What would YOU find dissapointing in GT5?

If the damage sucks.

GT5 was touted by PD themselves to be a damage benchmark. I really hope it is. That's one lie I won't accept. I'll make sure PD never sees a single penny from me again.

The rest I can live with.

I just don't wanna see the return of GT4's moanful (is that even a word?) 24 hour races. And I'd be disappointed to see B-Spec go away, though I can live without it if I don't have to do really long races like the 24 hours on GT4.

But of course those are in.
No no no no no! If they're really in just gimme B-Spec and I'll accept em.

I never drove a full 24H race in GT4 (only took stints away from Bob when he'd be a moron and drop me a few laps down after I slept), but if there is fully dynamic weather to match a day/night cycle for a 24H Nurb or Sarthe race, I'm going to make sure to put the time in myself. I want to witness this.

"* Damage is not necessarily applied to all races in the game." Worries me on the main site, but I hope it's the same as stating "tire wear is not necessarily applied to all races in the game" for GT4. So it's probably nothing.

Day/Night cycles, if applied properly, really should be available for every track. Weather might not be due to different locales, but I see no reason time of day shouldn't be.

A livery editor mixed with photomode is probably the biggest threat to my free time...

1 - GT5 is a video game. It is not real. If it is to you, that is your bed to lay in. Gran Turismo is by far my favorite video game series out there. But in the end of the day, my life doesn't revolve around to it a degree in which I need to "let go" in a public forum due to disappointments.

2 - Before you began to insinuate that I am posting a personal attack against your person, you must realize that I am only making an observation. I just question your emotional envolvement in a video game, and why you let it reach this point. Life presents many a circumstance that requires a daily emotional "investment", and in all reality, it should not involve video games. If you do not want people to question your emotions, keep them out of your posts.

3 - Are you searching for a congratulatory response from this community for highlighting problems in a video game? Sounds like it to me. Again, your emotional attachment to this title is puzzling.

4 - Of course the positives in GT5 have been discussed. And as I, and others have expected, they outweigh the problems. That is, unless it's people like you. GT5 will ultimately be a game that will supply hundreds of hours of entertainment over the course of a few years to me, and thousands like me. Why not just enjoy it? I know you have it in you, being how you play other "imperfect" racing titles.

5 - Once again, I agree with you. Kaz, PD, and the GTP community have set expectations for GT5. If what we have seen of GT5 troubles you, then isn't it obvious that your expectations were to high? If your state of mind is at a such a level, you best move on.

6 - With Forza Motorsports, I understand you now. Your pre-concieved notions of what Turn 10 and Forza 3 were low enough, so when the game finally came out, it was the level of quality you were expecting. With me, it was the complete opposite. I expected much more in the driving gameplay and track layouts (for example). I even put another 360 in my house (with Forza 3). Needless to say, I do not own the game anymore. Oh well. Such is life. Hopefully Forza 4 will be better.

7 - So yes, you have a deep rooted emotional attachment to a video game that led to some level of emotional distress. You now feel the need to post all your issues in a forum. If that's what you need for "closure", so be it. Just don't expect people such as myself to be quiet in the matter as you heal yourself.

8 - Ironically, I do have one concern when it comes to GT5. It's my ability to wait another 4 months. But if you want me to take an objective viewpoint in the matter, let me say this. While in GT Mode, I do not want the game to throw money at me (IE Forza 3, and GTPSP). I want to earn my credits the hard way, so I can finally purchase those racing brakes. But you know something? If it doesn't work out that way, you won't see me in these forums getting all emotional about it.

So what you are saying is, no you don't have anything to contribute to the thread...

i would find it disappointing to see that the stig talks during the game ... or even leaves the car

i would find it disappointing to see that the airplanes dont have physical and mechanical damage

i would find it disappointing to see that gtplanet isn't mentioned for our great feedback and advice :)

Gran Turismo was the reason I ever bought a Playstation since the PS1/2/3. Like most, I have been waiting for GT5 to come out and in the mean time have been getting into other games such as first person shooters. I was a big fan of the COD series until the multiplayer boards were hacked, hacked and then repeatedly hacked over again but children and pretty much now all of these online games are hacked so hopefully this doesn't happen in the leader boards or Time Trials in Gran Turismo 5. That is what I will find disappointing if this problem occurs. The sad part is that they neglect the leader board problems and its all a big joke, so whats the point of even playing anymore.

That's my 2 cents.

Since we'll get private lobbies, just play with friends/GTP members? I don't own GT5P so I've never had to deal with the leaderboards, but it doesn't bother me because I get a lot more pleasure from a having a good, fun race with people I know :)

Cockpit views is obvious.
But aside from that, the main thing that I worry about is the tracks. To me, alot of cars is awesome but if you race on the same tracks over and over, then I'm afraid the cars will get boring.
Also, AI is pretty high on my list as well. I hope taut the AI is more closely packed instead of having the same two cars in the lead and the same five cars getting lapped. It would be cool if a car that mightve started off say,12th winds up fighting for the lead.
I would also be disappointed if the game is set up completely different than the past GT series. New features is one thing but I enjoyed the license tests and winning alot of prize cars.
But most of all, I will be disappointed if the game is not out on Nov 2nd!

In answer to the OP... Absolutely NOTHING... I just want to play the damn game already... All the fuss about standard vs. premium is getting old now and I personally dont give a crap... Cant wait for it to come out! 👍

Lack of a well thought out well implemented GT mode.....
And heaps of tracks
damage
tuning options like previous games

That is all...

I don't care if we have 300 or 1000 cars.... or how many people can play online together.... nor do i car about engine swaps or whatever they are..

All I really want done to the highest standard is... GT mode... something that takes hours to do.. somethingbig and massive, with endurance, WRC, NASCAR (i hate it.. but it should be included since its in teh game), short races, tuning options, heaps of cars and different types of racing...

Online, 2player mode etc.. all nice and good there.. but I don't want it to be something you turn the game on and play.. it should be a bit on teh side

But let's be logical here, no game is perfect, GT5 won't be perfect and we all know that. It's not even reasonable to expect a game to be perfect.
No, but when a game has taken this long to develop, you would reasonably expect no single element to stand out as a disappointment.

I want some proper tyre squeels when im pushign my car to the limits. I reckon the current noise sounds way too generic and fake.

I also want GT5 to have a rich online mode where communication with other players around the world is easy and fun, I do not want an online mode that only allows communication through a chat window.

Well I'd be lying to say that 800 missing cockpits isn't the first disappointment so far.

Biggies:

- Lack of livery editor. I want this so much! It would literally double my playtime.
- Weather + day/night missing for more than 1/2 the tracks (or gimped in some other way like disabled when racing more than 8 cars)
- Lack of "racing modification". I see this as a key feature of GT that's been missing for way too long, and with these premium cars it should be possible now.

Smaller but important to me:
- Weak engine sound (especially for race cars)
- Fixed tyre models, ie. if I put racing slicks on my car I want to see them, because they look awesome.

What would I find dissapointing in GT5?

Maybe that the Civic Sir 93-94 dont have cockpit, but, it never have before so i`ll pick up anyway.:grumpy:

You make a complaint post. He addresses it. And you say this?

Some people just... wow.

Well, I guess I'll say sayonara now. Forza seems to be the damage benchmark, and it's rough too.

Just one thing. Rewind... thats sucks pretty bad:tdown::yuck::ouch:

Impossible to rewind online.
Only in single player, would make a joke of the license tests wouldn't it.

I see where you coming from.
Must suck more not having the power to resist.

That we get it 3 weeks later in Europe, that pisses me really off... The most important market here but Sony still don´t understands this and treats the people in the EU like....

We get everything later, demos, games, psn games...

People whining about things which are either not confirmed or rumors, damn... what's up with GTP these days ~__~VV

Its a simple recipe;

Combine, next gen PS3 + GT + almost 6 yr wait.
Put in pot, turn on high heat of expectation, and cover.
Wait for steam to blow off.

EDIT: I forgot one ingredient. Throw in as many conflcting reports on features as possible.

The old GT were fantistic for me... But If in GT5 there will be only 20 tracks, no cockpit view for all cars, no Porsche and other manufactures, the same physic, no weather change, the same customization of gt4 and poor level of damage... What have they done in 5 years apart from the graphic and day-night for some tracks?

I still plan to buy this game no matter what but I will be disappointed if:
1. We cant swap engines
2. We cant swap drive trains
3. No vinyl editor
4. It doesnt show a better diagram for tire wear

Sayonara? Certainly not. I'll play it alright, but they are not getting my money.

And for damage benchmark I'd go with Dirt 2. It has deformation based on point of impact (what GT5 promised to take to the next level). Forza 3 has baked deformation.

As much as I love Forza 3 I would not agree at all with it being the "damage benchmark".

Forza 3 damage is decent. These games have amazing damage modeling.
Dirt 2
Burnout Paradise
NFS Pro Street
NFS Shift
GRID
