What would YOU find dissapointing in GT5?

Anyone think the Top Gear test track will offer a "free roam" feature so that you can drive anywhere on the track without following the usual line?

It will be limited seeing as there are invisible walls just feet outside the designated track. I think that's what they said.

Actually I wont be disappointed at all. I just wont buy it, that way it will be SCE and PD's loss. Not mine. :)

Ya, but you are just a grain of sand on the beach of Gran Turismo sales. Not saying you aren't important though.

I'll be disappointed if Red Rock Valley is still absent :(

Yeah I really miss this circuit. :(

Mine:
-lack of cockpit view of some sort in all cars (please PD atleast make generic cockpits for standards)
-unimproved engine sound
-lack of backfire and flame comming from exhaust (makes the car feel more alive)

But looking at everything that we are getting totally overshadows my dissapointments. The features that are included will keep me occupied for years and years. 👍 This is one of the most content packed games that you can get for $60, especially in todays market when everyone is trying to pump out as little content as possible for the quick $$.

  • No Spa-Francorchamps
  • No Zolder
  • No multi monitor setup
  • No skidmarks :sly:
  • No sim physics in simulation/professional mode
  • No interactive dashboards (see NetKar Pro)
  • No anti skid park to practice car control
  • No horses (hello Danny!) insde joke
  • No realistic sand pit/grass/ off track physics
  • Invisible walls

Of course it's YOUR loss, because you will be missing the best racing game on PS3, maybe of all time.
But if you are stubborn enough to simply ignore the whole game because of the missing cockpits, no one will try to convince you.

I would add the lack of carbon-ceramic brake discs getting hot....especially if you're racing at night:yuck:

But I'm pretty sure backfire will be in GT5 since it was in GT4 and GTPSP ;).

If I had any complaints.....

I guess that compared to any other rally game the rally driving seems very sterile and boring. You bash into things at the side of the road and you just bouce off them, even if it's a picket fence.

And the sound of the cars. I don't understand how it can be so bad after all these years. If Kaz is a perfectionist, he must must be perhaps hard of hearing, cause to me, sound is 50% of being immersed in a game.

Apart from that, not many complaints, game looks amazing, can't wait until November!

I would think being the companies loss is not necessarily exclusive to being the consumers loss...

That said, if he is so unhappy as not to buy it, doesn't that mean he doesn't lose because he doesn't want it?

It's kind of like saying "I skipped dinner because I don't like porkchops or asparagus" and then someone coming back "well your loss because it is the best dinner ever"...

Ummm it's not the best dinner to someone who doesn't like porkchops and asparagus...

Id be disappointed if the standard cars didn't have interiors, and i know i'm going to be disappointed by the horrible menu music PD always has in their games... i mean who wants to listen to elevator music, really? no track editor would be disappointing, cars not getting dirty would be disappointing... and im gonna stop myself here because i sound like a total downer

I know what you want to say, but doesn't registering here and being an active part of the community express your love for GT? GT5 will be just as awesome as every other GT-Game and I think everyone in here loves the series ...so why ignoring GT5 because of a feature that wasn't even announced in the first place?

To me this doesn't make sense, I'm sure he enjoyed GT1/2/3/4 and the fact that GT5 will surpass them should be more than an argument to buy it - even if it has some flaws which all games have.

Not necessarily... being an active political member doesn't mean you necessarily love the government as it is and being an active member of say a corvette club doesn't mean you particullarly agree with the direction corvette is going (just a totally random example, I am not saying anythign about corvette really).

Basically being a member of the community means you are strongly interested in it, it does not necessarily mean you will love it or that you won't be significantly dissapointed with it.

I am an active member and you don't have to throw a dead cat to find someone who will tell you am not blindly in love with GT5... I have bee interested in what it was supposed to be, but if what it turns out to be ends up being signifincantly different, that all can change.

Just because something surpasses it's predacessors does not necessarily mean it's doing a good job. There are plenty of companies out there that continue to do better every year than they did the last, but the competition does better faster and the result is that while Company A's widgets may have gotten better every year and I liked Company A's previous widgets; Company B has improved faster than company A making Company A's widgets sub par in the overall market.

There have been many similar arguments around here about GT5, one being:

Previous GTs didn't have it and you loved them! (mostly about damage/cockpits) and the answer there is simialr - that was then, this is now. I think you can agree if they just re released GT2 exactly how it was, as much as one loved it then, no one really would be so happy now.

Remember, across the board improvement and competition is good for all of us in the end, while it may come at the cost of any particular company...

I personally hope FM and the other "semi" sim racers out there have lit a fire under PD to go in new directions and they do it really well... not only because then we will have an awesome GT5 to play, but then FM4 and all the NFS's and Dirts and what not out there will also have to work harder...

Peoples' tastes and requirements for the game change. Who cares if it surpasses the previous games; given the development time, it better.

Registering here doesn't announce some life-long allegiance to the games.

I will be upset if you cant flat shift gear changes (you can do this in real life, so a simulator you should be able to do it)

I hope you can turn of the steering wheel when incar, the wheel is in front of me, I don't need two wheels

tuning and customization will have to be improved otherwise very disappointed

paint shop as good as or better then Forza's

different brands of tires have different characteristics meaning advan AD07 road Tyre warms up quicker then the bridgestone RE01R Road Tyre but it doesn't last as long as the bridgestone etc etc.

I think you summed it up pretty well, Triple D.

BTW I was a little concerned there for a while you might be issued a temporary restraining order. Glad to see you are still with us.

I love that music! And calling it elevator music is an insult :yuck: But seriously I do think it adds a lot of class to the game, and that atmosphere is part of the reason I love Gran Turismo so much. But yeah, I do understand where you're coming from

Anyway, for me it would only be:

- 7 AI competitors maximum
- Lack of fictional circuits (Trial Mountain, Midfield, Grand Valley, Red Rock, etc.)

I've gotten used to the reality of not having interior view for 800 cars...I've been playing racing games long before interior view was a standard, I could certainly do without it now given the other amazing things Polyphony is doing to advance the genre forward. As they say, it's only a minor setback.

- brainless AI idiots despite PD's promise for major improvments
- only player cars suffer from random mechanical failure
- races are mostly 1-3 lap sprints
- a heavily Japanese-biased car selection
- the non Japanese cars are once again handicapped
- American cars still sound like electric drills and vaccum cleaners

Very nice way of explaining. If only more would express their views in that manner.

Do you go to McDonalds and say "Can't they just make a restaraunt for all you people who want burgers and fries"?
