What's the worst engine sound in GT5?

It sounds pretty close to the real thing, judging from this video

I think the LFA in GT5 sounds very similar to the real car, although the engine note probably does sound a bit higher in the game. Also, it sound pretty bad with any exhaust modification added to it. The real thing sounds like a beast though.

The Starion rally car is horrible and so are a lot of others, too many to list. I would have to say I am more disappointed with the sound in the game than anything else.:indiff:

Several American muscle cars sound like crap...:nervous:

To name a few:

Ford GT '02, '05, '06, LM Race Car, LM Race Car Spec II, Viper GTS-R Team Oreca (both), GTSR Concept, Art Morrison Vette, Saleen S7... and the list may be even longer :dunce:

But for me the worst engine sound has to go for both the Sauber Merc C9 and the GT-One... I mean... WTF?!?!?! :ouch: They sound like blenders!!!

The Asparadrink RX-7 sounds like a duck when it's idling. Also the 330 P4's engine recording is really, really badly clipped.

Lol thats rotaries for you. I'm gonna have to get that car now so I hear it quack like a duck at my opponents!

My feeling of Sound in GT5 is that the cars have some piece of sound thats always the same on every car 👎

Dont know howto explain it better, but every car sounds the same in some piece of soundsystem, they all are doing the same noise in a different way, very disappointing...

dident found a car (having ~150 cars, driven every) that sounds very realistic in GT5, but the Soundengine was (sadly) never PD`s thing...

My two cent`s...

This thread has the potential for 100+ pages :sly:

These cars are "supposed" to have a big heavy v8 sound

Camaro Race Car - 5.7 liter v8
Corvette C5R - 7.0 liter v8
Corvette ZR1 RM - 6.2 liter v8
Corvette Z06 RM - 7.0 liter v8

They fail miserably. The Corvette C5R has been wrong since GT3...Is Kaz doing this on purpose?

It seems that he IS doing it on purpose. I´ve notived that they changed the sound, but to another generic non-V8 sound. And whats worst: The GTS-R Viper DID get a V8 sound, but it´s not even a V8!!

I don´t know how to explain it...The LFA´s sound in GT5 is terrible. I does sound like the real thing, it does sound like a V10, but somehow it sounds very, VERY artificial, to the point were its anoing, and it made me get rid of it. It even has a strange "cut" in the sound when reving up. I´m always concerned on how PD can make such a celestial piece of art like GT5, and then, small details ruin the whole expirience...

Following the OP, I got to say the Dodge Viper GTS. How come they got it right with the SRT10, and the ACR(although stock, strangely they don´t sound like a Viper, but when you change to the sport exhaust they do), and the old GTS has the same somewhat freaky sound it had since GT2? Its like they struggled to make it sound right, but that sound was as close as they could get back in the old GT2 days. Come on, PD! You got it right with the other Vipers, why not use that same sound? And old Viper doesn´t sound any different to a new one! Its the same basic big V10 sound!

Take the Minolta 88C-V and the '93 Calsonic Skyline for example. The engine startup sound on both cars are exactly the same, and I assume they sound exactly the same when racing as well.

All of the Subarus in the game have horrible sounds... there's no boxer rumble or anything remotely close to the real sound in the game.

Oh boy. There's a lot of cars in my garage that sound like crap.

Dodge Ram 1500 with race exhaust: Sounds like a Civic. How do you mess that up? :yuck:

Any Corvette or Camaro with race exhaust: It's like my ears are being raped. :guilty:

Any Subaru with a race exhaust: It sounds artificial and lifeless. :nervous:

Mitsubishi iMiev: I've heard babies with cries that aren't as high pitched as the noise that comes from this car. The CIA should classify this sound as a form of torture. :scared:

Ferrari 599 with race exhaust: Probably the most annoying exhaust note I have ever heard.

In general the race exhaust just screws up whatever good sound a car could have had. :guilty:

Have a stock exhaust paired with a racibg gearbox is terrible. The god damn gear box is so damn obnoxious, you can barely hear the exhaust over the excessive whining of the tranny.

The classic DTM's (alfa 155, calibra or 190), terrible coffeegrinder sound, exactly the same for all 3 also...

I nominate the C4 Corvette ZR1, in fact its one of the most dissapointing cars i've driven on GT5. Ironic that the C4 grandsport sounds far better, feels faster and handles better than the top model!!

I can't believe there's been no mention of this before - Toyota Prius TC. It just sounds like a dying cow!

McLaren MP4-12C. I have never heard such a pathetic twin-turbo V8 in my life. I cannot drive the car because of the engine note. The car is one of my last favourite despite the engine as it does not feel balanced. It is too unpredictable.

Give me a Ferrari 458 Italia or Lamborghini Gallardo any day over the McLaren.

For me its the Tesla roadster. Once i heard it i immediately turned the Tv to mute so i could hear my thoughts:tdown::indiff:

On the other hand, the ford gt lm race car sounds awesome:tup:

Tesla Roadster for me. I did a 25 lap time trial in one - I was glad it was raining and we had to use comfort tyres - the sound of oxygen dyhidride on the windscreen and the tyres struggling to grip on the cold tarmac took my mind away from the nerve stapling it was getting from the Electric motor.

...flashbacks... ouch

YUP!

I 2nd the PRIUS TC.

I nominate the 599 in replay, it has this exaggerated doppler WOOOSH when driving by but sounds ok in cockpit.

Any person that fits a Titanium Racing Exhaust to a Ferrari should be shot imo.
Jk, but the screech they make is mind-bogglingly bad.

The dodge ram truck sounds like a honda with the racing exhaust installed lol.

Dude all cars sound terrible with the racing exausts installed. They pretty much all sound indentical if I'm not mistaken. It's a shame but simulators are about physics, sound is just a bonus, and that's coming from an audio engineer. Don't really understand why people get so hung up on sound. Some cars in GT5 actually sound phenominal. Check out a stock lexus LFA and Zonda C12 7.3, they sound accurate and badass.

Jaguar XJ13 with no question or competition. What the bloody hell kind of sound byte did PD develop specifically for this point that sounds like someone scraping a chalkboard? Really, the Mark IV is the complete opposite with sound as that's a masterpiece no matter where you put it.

Haha so far we've had all sorts of electrical appliances passing the revenue already; Grinders, blenders, toothbrushers, vacuum cleaners...

(Even crying babies and dying cows... who says GT's sound is not diverse!)

'07 Mustang GT with stainless exhaust. Horrible. Just horrible. You apparently lose 4 cylinders during the upgrade.

Pmls.

Don't get me started,I love gt and hate it at the same time. KY can't call himself a petrol head letting V8s sound like a very poor intpretaion of a 4, and the rest. They have had 14 years and 5 games and barely an improvement other then Doppler.

This gentleman is correct. The cars he has used as example sound exquisite. As for the majority of the rest of them? Goodness knows what animals, boats or vacuum cleaners PD used for sound modelling

The worst sound in the game for me is "superchargers". I swear I just put a supercharger on this car.....why do I not hear even the slightest whine of a supercharger? At least all the cars in the game, no matter how far it sounds from real life, have a sound of some kind. Superchargers don't.

Thanks but, I think the whole "vacuum" thing is also a gross exaggeration. I mean has anybody ever played GT5 and then used a vacuum?
