Thanks but, I think the whole "vacuum" thing is also a gross exaggeration. I mean has anybody ever played GT5 and then used a vacuum?
I did yesterday, you should try it out

I honestly can't think of any other word to describe this noise:Thanks but, I think the whole "vacuum" thing is also a gross exaggeration. I mean has anybody ever played GT5 and then used a vacuum?
The stock 2011 STi sounds... not like the 2011 STi...
Especially noticeable when my ringtone is... the 2011 STi in real life...
All of the Subarus in the game have horrible sounds... there's no boxer rumble or anything remotely close to the real sound in the game.
Jaguar XFR '10 & XKR '10 (stock); always sound like a cruising barge![]()
Watch TOPGEAR the XFR actually sounds like that.
If you knew as much as you imply, then you'd know that the two engines sound almost identical. One of the big differences is that the 2.0L engine revs 1000 rpm higher. How are you going to call your self an impreza addict if you didn't know the 2 premium(JDM) sti imprezas use an entirely different engine? a extremely higher reving spirited 2.0 twin scroll turbo charged engine, rather then the 2.5 liter in the eu and us spec models.
Also the spec C standard imprezas use the 2.0 twin scroll turbo engine.
It's spot on to the real sound.👍
It's hard to beileve how people do know about the 2.0 unit in newer jdm spec subarus, as for "All" no. alot of standard models have the boxer rumble in low revs, just dont rev to high.

Why should I have to get a decent sound system just so I can hear good engine sounds when engine sounds coming from TV shows (namely Top Gear) are pretty close to real life? Not to mention other games sound good on the same set of speakers. If you want realism, get a decent sound system (most TV speakers are pretty appalling) and turn the volume up loud, and GT5 will give you that bassy rumble.

GT5's car sounds are bad. Period.

Because poor sound systems lack low-end (bass) response and therefore will sound raspy and unrealistic. TV shows, like the unrealistic games I mentioned before, are rather like radio in that they flatten out the sound and accentuate the lower end range unrealistically. They work within a limited range, whereas sitting in a real car you get a far greater dynamic range, which can be almost deafening when pushing high-performance cars, yet you can still hear the engine of a 500cc car burble away too.
I see your points, but, why do cars sound good in, say NFS Shift or rFactor using speakers? Doesn't this mean that there is something PD can do to improve the engine sounds, rather than have their customers purchase an expensive sound system?Eh, the (stock) twin-scroll doesn't have that boxer exhaust rumble. Everything else sounds the same, though.
The 22B in GT5 has the right exhaust sound, but unfortunately it's masked by the "engine" whirring noises that PD love so much.
Also, you won't get real bass from GT5 without the right hardware. It doesn't use phantom techniques.
C6 ZR1 and Z06 along with the new SS Camaro, it breaks my Chevy heart!!
I do watch Top Gear, but why talk about Top Gear if you've heard one in real life? One passed me a few weeks ago and it sounded pretty much like a V8 should...

I had a vacuum cleaner ten feet from my PS3 and TV when I wrote that and I stand by it. Even after the horrible, sound ruining titanium exaust and transmission upgrades, it still doesn't sound like any vacuum cleaner I've heard. Not even close.

With the stock exhaust? Because I swear they're pretty much bang on in that respect (for the Z06 at least)
i think most of them sound bad but the cars with the titanium exhaust are the worst sounding cars in the game
crdhockey24I agree! Any car in the game, even the ones that sound great get ruined by a titanium race exaust sounds like a lawnmower. Its not worth the added horsepower on some cars. I didn't want to ruin the beautiful sound of the Lexus LFA so i didn't even put one on.
Daverytimesi-MIEV takes the cake. the engine sound on that thing is horrible.
