Got up to 44th in the SE by shaving off .2 at Rome. :D

Congrats! I spent too many hours of my day off on Rome and managed to improve my time by a whopping 0.02 or something like that. I'm at 50 for SE now.

Thanks, I noticed you improved just a little. I worked on the same track again and managed to knock off another .1 and now im up to 40th for the SE. I think im going to go back to the Cape next weekend (the final weekend for round 1). I will continue on Rome til the weekend come or i somehow break into the 21's

I've had GT5 and a DFGT for about a week now. Wish I had more seat time. I'm currently 716 in SE but trying my damnedest to get under the bubble. Looks like Cape is the key here.

I have a buiseness trip fri-sat. Dangit!!!!

My best is 651st in West Region Tsukuba, mid 1Ks for the rest, I don't know my overall but they can't be pretty.
I'm pretty proud of myself using a DS3 :)

Top 16 would be a worthy goal, since that's the cutoff for round 3.

I started yesterday with all the confidence in the world that I could get close, but Rome kicked my butt. 10-15 clean laps close to my best time, followed by 10-15 laps where I can't hit my marks. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I hope to get some more time in before this round ends, but if I do it won't be much.

Top 16 is the cutoff for round 2.
Top 8 is the cutoff for round 3.

From the rules (looks like a lawyer didn't write these...):

Contest race round 2...The 16 contestants with the highest scores from each Region will move on to Round 3.

Contest race round 3...The eight contestants with the highest scores in Round 3 from each Region will move on to Round 4 Final Round.

Well, right, that's what I meant. Top 16 to get into round 3. My fingers don't always type what my brain is dictating.

Yeah Id love to get the top 16. Its going to be hard to get top 16 though. There is kind of a jump in times once you get into the top 30. 16th place is ALLOT faster than 30th. Its all going to depend on the car and track combination for round 2. As far as rankings go my ranking for the Cape is my best out of the 3. Im 37th on the Cape. It just seems like im further behind the leader on that track because im still 2.4 behind the SE leader on that track and Im 3.0 behind Choate. Edit: make that 3.1 behind blindsidefive0 (congrats on that insaine lap)

Gotcha 👍 Top 16 is a great goal for the first round.

I just didn't want any mean surprises if you settle for top 16 in round 3 because you didn't know the cutoff...just to find out you didn't make it to Orlando.

I'm currently sitting 29th overall and 7th in the west. Tough spot for me because I'd really like to sit back and chill for the rest of the week being locked into rd 2...save for some sort of christmas miracle :dunce: But I'd really like to see a 2:45 at the Cape. And as it sits now I'm just out of the cutoff for the week 5 prizes so it looks like I'm gonna be putting in a bit more wheel time this week.

I have got pushed bake a little looks like I'm 10 overall in the SE but I couldn't be happier. I have not played that much as I'm saving my self for round 2-3, I can only piss the girlfriend off so much Hahahaha

Good luck to everybody in round 2 I think that's when it will start to get really fun.

+1.

I haven't turned a single lap in GT Academy in....two weeks? Pretty happy where I'm at since the prizes don't mean much to me. It's the grand prize I am after. :dopey:👍

That's not right, it's 128 move to round 2, and 32 move to round 3. the top 8 move to the finals after round 3.

Top 128 in each region go on to round 2, then top 16 in each region go on to round 3. Top 8 in each region go to the finals. Those 32 compete for the 16 spots at Silverstone.

stoked! played for a short while today and got my ranking up to 35th in the west. after a few weeks of not playing, getting back into the swing of school, it felt good to play for a few hours.

I'm also really looking forward to the next round. I think everybody is going to step up their game. Best of luck!

I'm #51 in West right now and #2 with the controller. I'm challenging myself to have the fastest controller time by the end of round1, since advancing past round 2 will probably be out of the question for me : )

I have clawed my way through the bodies up to position 100 in the west, and 246 overall, I feel west coast is stacked with some good racers, since were all stuck indoors up here in the north haha.

This is a stiff competition but round 2 should be interesting... maybe it will be Indy in an oval, with nascar HA!

1st.

Although Dr_3wide_skills has moved up a lot, and might pass me. Annoyingly I need to keep working at this...it might take a 5:10 to win the last effing Playseat.

I see him ahead of you by .017. :P

...and 2nd. 👎

That didn't last long.

I hate-hate-hate Rome, but looks like more laps are needed. This weekend I'll have to get myself a 1:21.1 (easier said than done), and probably get into the 1:04 club at Tsukuba - both will require squeaky clean laps. :nervous:

I warned u guys about 3wide...the kid is nasty. What makes it even crazier is if you ask him how long he has spent playing GT Academy and GT5 in general he will say, "5 hours".

Ha - I actually remember you saying that.

It looks like he put in about 5 hours at Rome alone last night. We traded 1st overall a couple times. He posted new laps at like 9:30, 11, and 1:30 - he went from a .262 to a .128 (when I went to bed at midnight he was still at a .16x and I was in first...woke up to see he passed me 👎). It seems like he wants to take down round 1. Right now that 0.017 gap between us seems like an eternity, probably because I know he's not done yet.

My Cape Ring lap is keeping me alive...for now. If he posts something much below a 2:45-flat I'm in deep trouble. "Ideal" laps for me at Tsukuba and Rome could get me down to a 5:11.000 overall...but those are hard to come by. I have a bad feeling he will post a 2:44.7 or .8 and it'll be over.

My wife is working this weekend, and another storm is coming through - so I'll have plenty of time to center my Qi and put down some laps. I'll be looking for .950-.975 at Tsukuba, .100-.150 at Rome. If I hit those, and still don't get it - back to Cape Hell :yuck: to try for a .8 (or faster?).

Heh funny u said that because I just sent a msg to 3wide earlier telling him that if he put down a 44.8 on cape it would be game over. blindside, honestly I think you will need to take another .200 off rome and .100 off cape and you will be in good shape.

Battling 3wide for a prize...boy, do I feel for you.

I'm in my own battle for the last round of DFGT's. Me and about 5 others are vieing for it, but I think I will hold on, and still very pleased for my limited (though not low) amount of seat time in round 1 (Round 2 will be a different story.) I threw away three 2'45.5's last night on cape ring, so it's coming tonight. But I have to say, that not playing Tsukuba and Rome after 2.5 weeks was a BIG mistake. I'll need to spend a little more time than I thought to get back in to the right zone and be in a position to lay down laps in the .1-.2 range.

I'm not overly thrilled on how this competition is going. There is far too much time in each round so for those of us that also want to finish the game and have other things to do in our life, get passed up because someone can spend 20 hours on it. I would have liked to see a 100 lap limit, the best you can do in 100 laps. In addition to basically having to cheat to even have a chance at being fast at Cape Ring...*sigh* It's so odd because at the beginning of the lap, if you get 2 tires off, you are DQ'd but at the fast section after T1 all four wheels can be off and it counts 👎 Needless to say, everyone is passing me by because of those :( O well, hope my time is good enough for Round 2.

If your sig is referring to your completion of GT5 it would appear to me that you have had more than enough seat time, you just chose to spend it elsewhere.
