What's your ranking?

For me, the game is undriveable with a DS3. I would recomended buying a wheel and then from there it's practice, practice and more practice. You need to have precise control over steering, throttle and brake input in order to squeeze the last second or two out of a car. Some cars, it's much more time than that because of how "easy" or "hard" they are to drive. Good luck man:tup:

I have no doubts your assesment is 100% correct.

My play of the game with the DS3 gave me this impression early on and the Academy TT leaderboards prove it out.

The game is optimized for this method of play control.

The game is playable with the DS3 but only up to a point, which is short of where the wheel/pedal setup can go.

I might add, the DS3 being IMO a poor design to start with doesn't help the situation any.

Definitely. Have you ever tried or heard feedback from the HKS racing controllers? (Or other "specially modified" controls made specifically for sim racing with modulate-able throttle and braking buttons?

Not to sound mean or anything, but, I bought my DFGT before GT5 came out ...before I had my PS3! So no prob's here.

/ducks.

...Just to be on topic, I am currently in the top 128. ; D

I'm ranked 733 currently...which kinda sucks...but im not gonna cry about it...hahaha...i can't get out of the 7 seconds range on tsukuba for the life of me...but then again i do still use the controller and using the x and square buttons...hahahha...no excuses since im doing around the same times with a wheel...the gt3 wheel...hahaha

Yes I know about it, and many that have bought it say you can definitely improve your times with it.

A week ago, I wasn't to concerned hanging in the Top 60 Northeast, to make the 2nd round.
Now having slipped to 104 I'm not so sure.

While I have no illusions about surviving round 2, especially without a wheel and pedal setup, I wouldn't mind being able to run the 2nd round, if nothing else just for ****s and giggles I guess.

Being pretty disappointed with this game, and having almost finished what there is of it, I'm not too inclined to go out and spend another $50 on a controller just to make the 2nd round of the Academy.

There's some time in Tsukuba and the Cape if I can squeeze it out.
With just two days left I'll probably go back and see if I can improve a little with the DS3, and let the chips fall.

581 in my region (southeast). I didn't register until yesterday. I wasn't interested in this before and now I'm upset that I waited so long.

Currently sitting at 172 on West Region although I just started up again since GT Academy. I hopefully i'll have enough time to break into the top 128 for round 2 đź‘Ť How are others holding up?

I was at 33rd in the SE on Thursday then I dropped all the way to 40th this morning since i hadnt been playing so this morning i knocked off another .2xx at the Cape and im back to 33rd. I think im satisfied for round 1. Now to prepare for round 2. I still need to improve a bit if i want to compete for the 16th spot in the next round.

Currently 174th in the Midwest. Don't know if I'll make the cut or not but, I'll give 'er a dirty one for sure.

Well now looks like I've slipped down to 9th West, 35th Nationally. I haven't put any time in for the last couple of weeks though, I really dislike these combos. I thought I might battle for a DFGT, but it would just sit in my closet with my old DFGT and G25. Heck I still have the wireless wheel I won in the Logitech Challenge two years ago in there. So I'm just glad to be through to Round 2, hopefully we get some better combos.

I've been spending my gaming time working on the GTP WRS registry, at the REAL Ring, now that's a fun time! I hope that many of y'all will step up to the challenge and get into the Weekly Race Series, there's still over a week to submit and it fits nicely into the gap between rounds.

Also I want to congratulate GTP_potatochip for ranking the highest amongst GTP tagged racers.:gtpflag:

Staying at 27th currently. I don't know if I'll try too much more this round being that tomorrow is the last day for the round. I'll be keeping an eye on my placement though. I doubt, although possible, I'll drop 101 places by round end.

Yeah, not gonna happen. But if by some very small chance it did, it would suck.

119th in the southeast..If the top guys stay on the track i whould be a lot lower on the cape and rome.46th on tsukuba.

Hey everyone. First off congrats to the people in the top. Mad crazy times! Y'all are machines or aliens, maybe even alien machines. Lol.
2nd, good luck to the people trying to make 128 for the 2nd round. Times ticking. :). I'm currently 73rd in SE. Hope it sticks for 2nd round. Either way 1st round was a blast. I'm now a fan of some of you top guys. Hope y'all make it all the way.

Just lopped off almost 8 tenths off my Cape time, with a 1:48.216.
Brings me back to 83rd Northeast. 403 nationally.
I'm pretty happy with that time, being set with a DS3.
I'm top ten against the stick players at the Cape.
There might be a sub 48 there, but I think it would take me longer than the time left to do it.

I was 33rd in the SE yesterday then dropped to 35th this morning and im now back to 33rd once again after dropping another .3 at the Cape. I seem to be hitting a wall at 33rd place. I have been at that position 3 times and my overall time is almost a full second faster now than it was the first time i was 33rd just a few days ago.

If the competition ended at 12 noon eastern time, why is my ranking dropping almost 6 hours later?
Not that it's going to put me out of contention, I wasn't in it anyway. But was feeling good about being in the top 300 in the NE, and 1300 nationally. I'm still in that range but not by much.

I think it ends at Midnight est tonight. 11:59pm

Finally qualified for top 128 in West after 2 days of intense sessions. Still need to shave a few seconds to secure my slot. See you guys in Round 2.

I just broke through the rank I've been stuck in for like three days. I was hovering around 100 in the West and after I did a long race online with the GT Spec Miata guys I felt sort of charged up.

I was almost gonna give in and ride out my 100th spot and hope it stuck but like I said, I felt good from the race and decided to give it a go.

I broke into 1:05.743 at Tsukuba first. Then I concentrated on Rome. I couldn't get through turn 9 well enough on my fast laps but I knew I could bring it together to hit a 1:21.XXX. I was stuck on 22 for a long time.
So I tried my hardest and after ten laps I hit 1:21.808 after a pretty clean run through T9.

I really didn't like doing Cape that much. I sort of neglected it for a while, which isn't recommended. I went back today knowing I could best my long standing 2:48 flat. I just made it to 2:47.658 so I backed out satisfied. I was happy seeing myself in 55th spot in the West overall. Yay.

Total time:
5:15.209

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone in this forum for helping each other out and throwing ideas and tips around. It made every one of us better drivers.

Hopefully I can get to round 2, just a few hours left so I'm hoping we don't get a tsunami of new people that decided to post times in the last second. Which is unlikely.

Should be awesome!
