What's your ranking?

131st in Northeast region.

Bit disappointing that in the last hour I had a lap that would have put me in to round 2 if I hadn't messed up on one corner.

1246 overall and 319 in the southeast. I was way off the pace at Cape Ring and just couldn't get the feel of Rome reverse. In hindsight, I wish I'd spent more time practicing and improving my times.

I feel bad for you guys out west that barely didnt make it. The west is crazy fast. It has allot more depth than the other 3 regions. 128th in the west is over a full second faster than the other regions.

76th in West, 189th overall.

I was 51st in West on Friday night, and did not run again. Glad my time held up. :scared:

West Individual event rankings, I was 57th at Tsukuba, 115th at Rome and 88th at Cape Ring. I spent about 60% of my total time at Cape Ring, less than 10% at Tsukuba, and the rest at Rome. Hoping we have some tracks I know in round 2.

Congrats on winning the first round for your region!

I finished 33rd in the SE. I was 32nd with 30 minutes left then got passed by someone in the last 20 minutes. I need to find a way to improve just a little to get the top 16 next round.

Next round is only a week long. Got to come out the gate fast. We are not going to have allot of time to improve.

I'm actually looking forward to that format. No amount of grinding ever gets me to the car's limit (as illustrated by my anemic 5:14.02 in round1) but I can generally get near to my limit in the first 10-20 laps.

If I had stood on my previous runs, I wouldn't have made it.
I went from 62 in the Northeast to 104 during the last week.

Had to jump on the Cape yesterday and about 4pm finally bested my time by almost 8 tenths. That was good for 83rd.

By the time it closed at midnight I was 101st.

There is no way I would have made it without that last run.

EDIT: Congrats to everyone who made it.

Well I improved the entire month all the way down to the last day, although i didnt play all that much the first week. Im hoping i learned allot and will be much quicker out the gate this time.

115th in the West, 250th overall. I had to go back and trim .2 at Cape on the last day. I guess the best drivers are on the west coast since our top 128 drivers are about 1.5 seconds faster than the top 128 anywhere else :D But once people started lawn mowing to beat each others times, I pretty much stopped, cause that ain't racin' 👎

I'm pretty sure the top 3 guys would disagree with that statement.

I meant as a whole for round 1, not individually. Which is odd because I though for sure there would be more faster drivers from the East with the high population, but who knows. :)

The regions are a bit odd if you ask me, for instance: not sure how virginia is northeast...
I imagine that the top 32 in the nation who get through to the finals will be pretty much even when it comes down to it.

I agree. How did Kansas make it into the West region? Should have been midwest.

Yeah whoever set up the regions really didnt think it out at all. At least i hope not. The midwest really needed a few more states. Not sure how Texas is SE either.

If you add up the population of the west states, it's about 25% of the country. I didn't go past the west, but I suspect there was a method to their madness, and they did their best to evenly divide the population.

It was really no different in the Academy last year, some countries just had much faster drives, some was population based, but some was not. I remember UK, France, Spain and Germany having particularly fast drivers.

I feel like population alone is useless as more people does not necessarily mean more people buying GT5. If we could get the regional sales numbers then maybe we could figure out their method.

Of course this would all be moot if they just named them Region 1, Region 2 etc.

I'm still completely beguiled by the existence of the regions to begin with. I have no idea why an offline time-trial would need to be split into geographical divisions. It would be different if I had to travel to a central location to do round3 live... or compete wheel-to-wheel online in round 3 where ping would matter... but it's all off-line solo-play until the regions are consolidated in the national final.
Would have been best if they just ran it on the national table:
R1: top 512
R2: top 64
R3: top 32

Though I'm just preemptively sour since round 3 in the NE is going to be like round 1 in the west. With the top 5 in the NE being aliens it means me and 10 other fast bastards are going to be in a brutal fight for 3 spots.

I would bet that having regions was requested by the TV producers that will be making the show. That way they will end up having people from all over the country, and everybody watching can have someone relatively local to root for. I think that's why the regions are kept separate until the nationals. No one region can have more than 8 people in the top 16...

Dr. watson, I believe the reasoning for the geographical regions is for publicity. If there is at worst 8 from each region going to Orlando then the promotional reach will be further than just the top 32 nationwide. There is a greater chance of having the top 16 from all over the country versus a general region. This helps with promotion to speed for the reality show that will be coming to speed and I am sure that it will cover the hell week plus the chosen one's journey.

187 in the Midwest

887 overall

Not bad if you consider there was how many...? 50k or so? :sly:

Congrats to all that made it!

I guess we should hope for 4 DQ's as I'm 132. :mischievous:

Even though it's not official yet, congrats to those who made/make it.

A little late, but I just joined the forum just today. Never played GT5 or GT5P up until the weekend it came out. Placed 72nd in the West and 181st overall with a very old Logitech DFP. Getting more used to the wheel and game physics everyday.

And hello everyone. Congrats to everyone, including the West, so competitive for sure.

I'm surprised it's taken you this long to sign up here. :dopey:👍

I was hoping you would noticed eventually. Now, let's see if we can get a practice session going between you and I.

Using what? I've got a GT Academy 370Z if we want to use those. Still working on my licenses to get the GT-R. Been busy with my Spec Miata series and I just started another one as well.
