Ok thats good to hear, I hopped on for 30 min tonight to give the tracks a once over and it looks like they are pretty straight forward so I think im gonna procrastinate on this one.

On another note, does anyone else feel like there is a boat load of time left in each track? seems like the fastest guys are low balling the scoreboard.

I seriously don't think any of the top guys are sandbagging, if that's what you are referring to. There are quite a few cheating bastards on Madrid right now using the wall to get a better time though.

If we had another 5 weeks for these combos you would see a 2:43.0 or so combined. There's SOME time out there, but not a ton.

I haven't tried Madrid yet but I'd say that achieving anything below a 1:04.9xx (current record being a 1:05.095 IIRC) @ Rome would be pretty damn tough, or near impossible (with a clean lap & no ebrake). In my session @ Rome I had gone .050 ahead of 3wides ghost @ T2 (T1 was a hair slower than his on that lap) on one of my laps (not my PB), but ended up falling asleep getting on the throttle exiting the last corner (where I then lost over 2 tenths). I also had several T1's that were roughly .050 up on 3wide - so there is a guaranteed tenth or more just in T1 & 2 alone and then probably another tenth in the last sector if you can really utilize all the road and clip the inner wall and straddle the curbing at the last turn with extreme precision.

But I think for the most part splitting hairs trying to find that extra tenth or two @ Rome just isn't worth it, as Madrid is the longer, more important combo with seemingly much more disparity in times. And as usual, hitting the kink @ Rome perfectly is like playing Russian Roulette so it takes a bit more luck than with most tracks to hit that ideal lap and tie strong sectors together (something I wasn't having much luck with the other night). And in typical GT fashion, you end up stretching the boundaries of the track to an unrealistic extent, in which case you end up straddling and driving over curbs during acceleration, braking, and turn-in so things are a bit more unpredictable in this area (particularly @ the hairpin after the kink).

Anyways, I'm going to hop on Madrid after I'm done watching UFC 126 tonight. Hopefully I can put these damn bumper car drivers in their place :dopey: Sorry for rambling on...

Think I'm going to sit back and watch from here on out, unless something crazy happens...

Madrid =1:38.795
Rome = 1:05.179
Total = 2:43.974

Rankings = 2nd (West) 7th (Overall)

The SE doesnt have any 2.43s but there are 10 guys between 44.1xx - 44.2xx

I'll probably need to find more time, currently 10th SE with a 2.44.273

I think I could take away another .1 on each track, hopefully

I suck, so I'm way down in the 50's, but I won't tag a wall just to get higher on the boards. Honestly though, I know I can take .5 out of rome. It's just a toss of the kinked dice.

I don't know about the other top guys, but I've gone about as fast as I can see myself going this round. I'll put in a few more hours tomorrow but I'm not sure if I'll improve at all. I've been as far as a tenth up on my ghost at rome so there's a little time there, but I feel like it's going to be really tough for me to replicate, let alone beat, my lap at madrid haha.

1:05.119 @ Rome
1:38.637 @ Madrid
2:43.756 Total

I'm sitting at 27th in the west. I assume my talent is as much as those folks hitting the wall, but I won't do it for posterity sake. Maybe next year I'll be competitive.

I was in an R1600 and Cheef sandwich with the Eifel and Toscana tracks, but now I'm sitting badly in 29th in the West with the current crop of tracks.

I have a 1:39.2xx at Madrid and a 1:05.5xx at Rome, I know I can gain another .4 combined from both tracks on clean runs. Unfortunately, .4 will only get me 17th overall. I would give it another go if I knew SCEA would do something about the wall bouncers, but my pessimism gives me no motivation to even get the bubble spots.

I'm right behind you in 30th and I'm know I can do it, but I'm tired from trying desperately to keep out without cheating....

i need to know if there is a page with general ranking... cause in the granturismo.com page the ranking is by region not overall and not by tsukuba and rome... thanx :)

It's all on the official gt-academy site, if you aren't finding it you aren't reading the interface and there isn't really much people can do to help you with that.

True... so they must have removed that feature from the round 1 rankings, you best bet is to take the 128 and make a spreadsheet yourself, pretty simple really as you can sort by time. It will just be hard to pick the names out with ease.

Looks like everyone wins loses.

I'm pretty sure I was 5th nationally before they cancelled the round.

I know how you feel :( I was 4th nationally just before the shutdown with clean laps. Sent a text to my brother with the link to the rankings for a little gloating ;) I didn't see it was cancelled until he responded back saying the page was gone - lol. I was piiiiiised.

Nice work...another fast guy in the Northeast 👍

hehehe, i feel for you guys. I feel pretty comfortable in the South, I can just figure out the track, sandbag a bit, focus on work/school and finally put in a time at the end of the week, but you guys have to stay focused and run as much as possible right when the week starts and you still won't have any idea if your times are quite good enough.

I'd be disappointed not to get a chance to meet you guys, but i feel pretty good about your chances.

At least Orlando will be a breeze compared to making the top 8 NE.

Best of Luck!

sucks to be the the 1/3rd bloke that has to complete as a torso. ;)

or as in the case in the SE...has p0rn star qualities

LOL

<sigh> lol

Thanks for the G/L Glenn:tup:

I don't think anybody in the NE will have a better chance than any other player going into the final. I few tenths in a TT is not a big deal when it comes to actually racing other people.

I'm just pissed a didn't start sooner, gt academy is my first time playing a sim racer with a wheel, I played gt3 and have had some seat time in real life but that was years and years ago. I would love to make it but I can tell it will be really hard for me. I can get into the top ten but the top five is another story. All I can hope for is a long track.....or three : ).
