Carmaniac, if you can provide your own chair/seat you can get the steel folding stand I bought for $149 shipped to your house. I was about to build a PVC rig until I found this one built and sold by DXRACER http://www.dxracer.com/art47_dxracer-gt-ps-1000l-n.html

I bought mine from Amazon, but you can order right from the manufacturers website for the same price shipped I belive. I love how this folds flat and is VERY sturdy too. I posted a full review on Amazon.

Australia. I knew I had seen this type of rig before.

Hey guys, Im new to sim racing and am looking for a really good rig to start off with that i can keep for a long time and continually add upgrades to. I will only be playing pc based games like Rfactor and iracing. DIY is out of the option for me. I dont think im a fan of the center post like in the playseat but please put in your input on it for me. Im looking for something very nice that has great durability and is very sturdy and won't move/have limited movement. Im spending most of my budget on a nice rig so i dont have to upgrade to a better one in a year or twos time, plus i want to be highly competitive. My budget is around $800 US for the works; including the cockpit, gaming seat, shifter holder, and hopefully a triple screen setup. W/o the triple screen holder about $500-$600 then. Mostly looking for sturdiness for the wheel and shifter as i will likely be driving hard. Ive been looking at the gt omega supreme seats for about $750-$800 with everything included. Anyone have any experience with it and how sturdy it is? Also if you have any other ideas please shout them out :D

@Zim92 I highly recommend the GranStand cockpit, you can get the whole thing for $425 + a $30 shifter holder.

And yes, it is quite sturdy once you have all of the allen-head bolts tightened down.

Did you have to bolt it to the floor? It looks fairly nice but the supports look like really cheap aluminum. It's really sturdy on its own? If it is you cant beat that price

No, you don't have to bolt it down.

It is made entirely from 80/20 aluminum extrusion tubing, and it is quite strong.

I own one of these, and I can say that it is strong and stable. I don't think you can beat it on price to get the same level of stability.

Hey guys. Ive been racing with a wheel stand for a couple years now and with my recent purchase of Thrustmaster TX makes me want to get out of my fold up chair and into a decent rig. I have been looking at the Playseats and I think this is the route I want to go. Does anybody own a Playseat or Open Wheeler rigs and give your review on it??...Keep in mind Im full grown man that needs a full grown place to put my butt. I was looking at the above Granstand Cockpit but the rig is too wide for what I need. If the rig doesnt have caster wheels on one end I will mount some because I will be moving this from one room to the other when I want to race until one day I will have my own man cave. Also a gearshifter place is a must. My budget is $400 to $500...Thank you for any advice.

I may have overlooked the list, but I didn't see the cockpit/stand that I am using.

Rosso Modello GTD-RS

Used a Playseat previously and it is of no comparison in my opinion. Swapped out the seat that came with the setup for a full bucket instead.

updated with Rosso Modello and MS4R.

The MS4R has a 3 monitor rig at an attractive price.

The Rosso has three different rigs all with unique features.

"of no comparison in my opinion" ? Which one do you like better, Playseat or Rosso ?

Hey SGETI, LOADS of thanks for this thread. I got bitten by the SIM bug about 2 months ago and just came across this, it has opened a huge window for my SIM hardware purchase experience. One question sorry in advance if this isn't the correct forum but I'm not a pc SIM racer (YET) but can you tell me what wheels & pedals are compatible with the Xbox One & which one should I get (new/used) that has a good bang for the buck!!! Thanks SGETI & FELLOW SIM RACERS

thanks for visiting, this sim bug is a long term illness, the remedy is nonexistent , you may need counseling.

As for the xbox one , i do not have a clue which is compatible. i would suggest asking the members here and maybe someone with knowledge would be more thank glad to help you.

Looking to buy a Wheel stand for my new TM T300rs anybody in United States got one kicking around in their corner collecting dust after a upgrade you want to get rid of one ?

sorry if it is the wrong thread or if the site does'nt allow buy and sell

I've been trying to find a better racing seat than my Playseat Evo, and there just isn't one. None of them offer the bottom foot-rest plate and most don't allow you to independently adjust the seat, wheelbase and pedal base. But I'll be keeping tabs on the OP tho, thanks @SGETI . Oh, and the url for the 4play seat is wrong, you have an extra 4 in the URL 👍

Jerome

hello jump i was just updating the list and you found the mistake. 4play looks rigid and expensive. I recently saw this rig http://www.racingsimulatorseats.com/ the only item missing is the adjustable seat base. I am sure you could find some side rails for adjustment. How often do you adjust your seat? More than one user in the house? I will keep an eye out for your specs. thanks for dropping by and helping me me with any updates needed.

Yea, making a racing seat isn't easy I know, but one of the top priorities must be full customization since everyone is different in size and preference. Apparently everyone doesn't mind holding their feet up in place against the pedal base I sure can't do that, nor can I race in socks as I get cold feet really fast. Maybe one day, until then my playseat will have to do the job :)

I am looking to get a full setup here soon, and the center post mounting style for the steering wheel concerns me. Can anyone that has a rig like this comment? Do you even notice the post being between your legs? Does it impede left foot braking at all? It just seems somewhat uncomfortable to me, and I have no way of testing out a rig before purchasing one.

Thanks

I don't know why everyone is so against having a center post. There is no 'perfect' way to do it, you either swing one leg in front of the center post (which by the way NEVER gets in the way, 2 or 3 pedal setup - see my sig) or you have to walk around your rig and get in it only one way and trust the rig to hold the weight of the wheel and your usage (which, unless its welded together and/or reinforced well, I wouldn't trust the rig to do it).

The problem with cockpits today is they haven't gotten any better than the Playseat Evolution because they are usually
A) Far too expensive
B) Not sturdy enough
C) Not fully customizable; where you can independently adjust the seat, wheel and pedals.

For the money, the Playseat Evolution is the best bang for the buck, especially if you are taller, or shorter than most.

I beg to differ, the best bang for your buck would have to be Obutto oZone, way more cost effective than most, fully customizable (comes with monitor stand, and keyboard tray as standard), and is rock solid all for $364 US while a Playseat Evolution is $399 on their webshop, and you get no keyboard tray, monitor stand, and you have the dreaded centre post. My point is just shop around, even the Fanatec CSL or the Volair would be good alternatives also.

Ok, so you don't notice the post being between your legs? I'm just concered with left foot braking, and also the times I decide to drive like a normal car and be able to heel-toe without the post being in the way.

Also, is the seat able to recline on the playseat evolution? From what I can tell it is not.

Ya I'm heavily leaning towards the obutto ozone.

$30 bucks when you are talking about hundreds, or even up to a grand for some seats, isn't much and I'd say they are the same price. You can't independently move the pedals in the Obutto either, the only thing you can do is slide the seat front/back which if you have long legs like me, means you have to stretch your arms out putting a strain on your shoulders. With that in mind, if you don't need the full customizable moving parts the Obutto would be a great choice 'cause as you said it's a great value in every other aspect.

The CSL's seat is a joke, it's so leaned forward that I feel like I'm hungover the toilet :yuck:

I never have any issues with the center post, ever. I may feel my jeans rub it sometimes but it's never been an issue. The seat doesn't recline, but I never needed it to, it was at the perfect angle for racing imo.

Wheel deck is adjustable, and the pedal plate isn't pre drilled, so in effect you can mount your pedals as far back or as forward as you wish, once you find your happy medium you drill and hard mount (Ihave long legs I am 6'2" and just shy of 300lbs and I fit fine, and shorter friends fit fine with seat adjustment). And for $30 bucks less with keyboard tray and monitor stand, if you price them alone with competitors come to a lot more than what you are saving straight up. Basically Obutto are giving you $30 bucks to take a stand and tray...

And if I'm not mistaken it's an extra $50 to get a shifter mount for the playseat, whereas that is included with the ozone.

For those that have the ozone, how sturdy is it?

I have one, and it is rock solid, I have also added an additional table top to it.

Ok, looks like you have the optional acrylic table top? Or did you find a table top on your own? Did you ever use it as is, with the regular mounting point for the wheel?
