Where do I stand in terms of driving ability?

I raced three laps of Midfield Raceway (forewords) with a Toyota Supra RZ 97', manual tranny, no aids, sport soft tires, an oil change, and a racing intake/exhaust. My best lap time was 1'25.619. Is this good? I have not been racing too consistently lately because of school work and such. I have had the game for about 4 months and had my dfp for about 3 months (and love it!!). I just started to attempt to gold licenses and in a couple hours I had no problem getting gold on most of the first license.

dangit, I was hoping this would be a racing question. Turns out it's about lap times.

...sorry, just talking to myself. I'm not a big lap time guy. I'm sure within short notice, somebody will tell you if it's good or not, or at least point you towards a local leaderboard (where they keep times and such).

You'll have to play with the query mechanism a bit to get something meaningful as it seems that many delight in submitting runs in the F1 car or similar and not all that many in 'proper' cars .

No lap times came up on the site sukerkin linked to, but I'm sure an "alien" driver with more laps could easily go into the 1'16s. This car is lovely to listen to with a racing exhaust!

You must be superman Austin. I was unable to do any better than 1'19.748 after over 80 laps using the identical car as you. It handles like a fecking pig.

Since the only things you can adjust is weight location or adding weight plus driving aids.

No, I'm not Superman, and I had no aids no ballast, and no add-ons besides the ones acedeuce802 mentioned. I just adapted my driving to the car's understeer. I play this game a lot, which certainly helps...

I kept tweeking the weight balance. I also tried varying the driving aids. Once I did hit that 1'19 lap I was never able to achieve a quicker sector time by more than .0xx

Did you note the power you started with? If you didn't refresh your oil change, the power may have dropped off a bit by now.

It's hard for me to tell whether you don't believe me or are just saying that you're at your personal limit. Would you like me to make a video of the lap (be warned, the quality would be awful)? I would first improve the lap so it would be worthwhile to watch.

Thanks for all your responses, I editted it to 97 (i thought 97, but wrote 93). You guys are fast, I need to practice more. Ill try that Circuit De La Sarthe race to see where I stand.

Down to 1'18.412, and that's about it for me. One or two tenths is all I can see getting, but I can never connect three good sectors.

Believe me, time trialing is the best way to get good quickly, as I learned from doing old WRS weeks. I highly recommend that, too - go to the Weekly Race Series, under Official GTP Competitions, and go to the archive. A couple pages back will be GT4 races. Practice definitely makes perfect in this game. Have fun!

Yes, unfortunately, because interest in GT4 had really plummeted before he posted his challenge. It's too bad, because it's really quite fun, and at this point it would not be difficult to beat most of those lap times because both of us only did a couple laps on each car we tested.

Ha, I wish! But I'm definitely not. For example, I get mid-17s on the slalom tests while he gets low 16s, and he's been multiple seconds faster every time we've both participated in the same competition. Closer to the truth would be to say that I'm one of the faster drivers that's still playing GT4, as most of the "aliens" have either given up GT until GT5, or have switched over to GT5P.

Yes he is for now the 1st to challenge my previous records and 1st to run almost all possible cars.

I did about 35% of the Sarthe times originally.
Austin holds currently most if not all of Sarthe records. 👍

As holl01 is defined as alien I can say that Austin343 is atleast 1/2 alien (semi alien?)

Are the discussed slaloms the GT4 licence test ones?

And what comes to top 100, I havent limited the list to top 100 ,
there has been just a round number of cars driven on the track sofar

holl01 has no entry at GTDB for IB9 , at all others he is #1
