Who else hates the Cape Ring?

As valid as the OP. Here, let me illustrate for you. Let's remove any track that someone complains about. How many tracks are left? Just because you can say anything on the net, doesn't mean you should.

Note that I'm asking this with a no experience in programming or the like. How much extra work is entailed in creating a real world track as apposed to something like Cape Ring? Obviously it would be more time intensive, having to actually work to a specific example, but how much so?

It's a discussion board where people share opinions... the OP's opinion is that he doesn't like Cape Ring.

I fail to see the problem with that.

I adore the Inside track. The full one... well it seems like the designer thought it was too short so made a u-turn to make it longer.

I love the inside track too, I scored 42 out of a possible 45 points there in the first 3 rounds of the TOCA Championship. :D

I like the cape ring for the simple fact that that it is not trial mt or grand valley or any of the other tracks that have been in the gt series from the beginning. There are also corners that can be taken flat out on the right line if u get to know the track. Everyone says this is too long, but they like the Nür Ring?? I don't get it. I like most tracks but just get bored of playing the same ones online all the time. The tracks that I don't like are the ones that I suck at but I don't blame the track for that ;) but what is with the special stage 11? I don't see the sense (except for weird glitches) but maybe that is another thread...

The difference is: Nurb is fun to drive. Cape Ring is dull.

Oh boy. The thought police are on patrol.

It looks like it was created by a nine year old with all the crazy turns and the huge jump. The "color coding" of the red and blue rumble strips adds to this effect as well. The biggest issue I have when I drive it is that the road feels too smooth. When you corner, the steering wheel just stays there, and doesn't bounce around like you would expect.

I like the outside one a lot, the full thing is too long though.

Agree with this statement.

In a series of races, forgot which, 5 laps here is too long, considering I think the same series had a 1 lap race at the Nurburgring Nordschlife.

Like what some of the other users say, I think it makes a good test track. I don't really enjoy racing slower cars here, but if it's an LMP or something, I find it quite fun.

Sorry, but I have to disagree.

The jump and the 'ring' I absolutely hate, totally ridiculous and stupid, but the rest of the track is superb.

Drive it in a lifeless low powered racecar on racing soft tyres and yes, it sucks, drive it in a roadcar on sports tyres that moves around and it's totally different.

The last series of corners after the ring are immense IN THE RIGHT CAR, as is the first half of the track.

It's a great test track and to nail consecutive laps where you're hitting every apex is a challenge, and a very satisfying one, especially in a fast road car on sports tyres.

The jump and ring, different story - they ruin it, get rid of them and the track would be awesome.

How people can say this track is worse than some of the others in GT5 is crazy, how bland Fuji, London is like driving round a car park, Madrid (WTF), High speed ring - pah, SS7, Tsukuba - they all suck.

Boring, lifeless, bland and just no satisfaction.

Cape ring is way better than them, even with the ridiculous jump and ring.

I absolutley think so, of course. If one rich ass dude wants a race car track to go through a mountain, he will. It is not any law of physics that says otherwise.

Midfield was a great circuit, but do you honestly think cutting a tunnel through a mountain to accommodate a race circuit is any more realistic than anything seen at Cape Ring?

If one rich ass dude wants a race car track to loop round over itself and finish in a jump, he will. It is not any law of physics that says otherwise.

It's no different. We're just talking about two similarly unlikely possibilities.

This attempt to play Devil's Advocate kinda smells of missing the actual point for the sake playing Devil's Advocate.

Well, it started with me saying that Cape Ring is no more unrealistic than many other 'original' GT circuits. Pointing out that Midfield, for example, has a tunnel cut through a mountain. He says that a rich dude could pay for that if he so wanted to. I pointed out that the same rich dude could build a track like Cape Ring if he also wanted to, making his point invalid.

It's one of the track that I rarely race in it but I don't hate it...I would say it's one of the least memorable track for me and I don't like the jump section...it's so unrealistic and I do admit...the full version is boring and tedious and yet, with Nurburgring it's totally the opposite...and the track (Cape Ring) wasn't hard to master (for casual racing) and after 2-5 laps, you'll be fine with it

I must admit that i've grown to like the Cape Ring Periphery since I last posted in this thread. I especially like the Reverse variant of it and I don't even give a hoot about the jump or the looped section either.

I still don't like the full version of the Cape Ring though and I don't think I ever will 👎

Yeah, its awful. Considering we lost tracks like Seattle and El Capitan its a real kick in the balls.

I dont mind the shortened variations as much as the full track. It feels like something a kid would dream up.

This!

My response:

It's my opinion. I don't like the circuit layouts, except for inside which is good for touring car racing.
