Ditch 2 player for sure. None of my friends are a match for me. If there was one, he/she 'd own a PS3.
Why taking away split screen? "Free memory, CPU resources?" That doesn't make sense at all 
Two player mode, friends in the same room, two wheels, one track, is funny as hell. I used it intensively in GT4 and Prologue and, as far as I know, was on that GamesCom list on Gran Turismo website that disappeared soon, so, I'll use it likewise on GT5.
If you don't like that, just don't use it.

I love 2 player. You're getting your precious damage, leave 2-player alone!
I also enjoy split screen racing. I miss the AI cars though. I have been trying to find more racing games with 2 player local split screen racing. Anyone know of anymore racing games with this feature? I used to play the easports nascar racing games with my uncle at my house every week. It was a blast but now that feature is gone and we have been trying to find a new game. GT5P is nice but we really miss AI cars.
