I may not post much , but I have been around these forums for a very long time, long enough to know that many people come from different walks of life. Teachers, students, husbands, wives , kids etc.đź‘Ť

I want to know! why do you play Gran Turismo? Is it relaxation? The adrenaline of playing or beating your best time?

This is NOT a thread to tell us about how great Gran Turismo is and bring fanboyism to.:grumpy:

I personally play Gran Turismo because of the excitement it brings me while I race. I feel completely engaged while I am racing. Whether I am driving a Ferrari at full throttle down the straights of Fuji or cutting a perfect line at Suzuka in a GTR, its nearly impossible for any other game to give me this feeling!

Please share with everyone here why you enjoy the Gran Turismo series and why you have waited (and continue to) for every game in the series!

I dont think theres a faster game than GT. tuning style is very cool and the missions are very hard. theres enough stuff in GT to keep you going.

A petrolheads dream ( me ) was to powerslide an AM DB7 around a bend at full throttle & GT allowed me to do it.It's just good fun.The trouble i have with racing simulators is, i find it difficult to relax after playing and i find playing GT for an hour or two too difficult.Always been the same since the first GT.

I just love the fact that there is such a wide array of cars to choose from. Even though when I was young I always raced the super cars, I still love having the choice of picking a slow beater or something that would rip the pants right off Chuck Norris.

My passion for cars made me play GT. I just love driving cars and this is what GT is about. But there's something about GT that I don't see in other games, something unique. I like the wide variety of cars, tracks and events.

so i can drive cars i will never have any chance of owning and the fact i can drive them fast. Also i find it an escape somewhere to dissapear from the madness of life.

As I first saw GT2 on PS1 i was addicted to it and to all other GT versions that came later on. I can´t describe why - i just love it. Physics, gameplay, fun, change, nice replays - infinite opportunities in infinite variations ( in vulcan words spoken ;-) ) and more to come in the near future (real online races with friends, amazing cockpit view, nice engine sounds, green hell (one of the most important reasons), and last but not least: the GT titles are the most bug-free games i know. all in all its entirely awsome...

I plat GT because it is the only racing/driving sim that i could actually learn from. GT has always been the driving game that had realistic driving along with realistic features. I don't like arcade racers much because I look for the realism in racing sims. Thats why I play GT!!!

Probably because I am able to drive such a broad spectrum of vehicles. Where else can you go from a 1885 Patent Wagon to a NIKE concept and drive a range of vehicles from in between. It is also one of the few games that stays fresh even 10 years after the series started.

The nearest and one of the most accurate ways to get close to one of my passions in life, cars in general and particularly, motorsport. Since im 16 i cant get a drivers license, but in GT i have a Super License. I dont have enough money to drive something better than mom's car, in GT i can drive even Formula 1 cars.

GT is for me how dreams come true :sly:.

I've always loved cars and racing and that's what this game is all about, with a huge amount of cars and tracks to have fun on. I keep playing Gran Turismo because I like the physics the best. Every time I play another racing game it just doesn't click or it doesn't last as long as Gran Turismo does. Graphics are the best in the industry as well which is a great thing for car fans. Mostly, it's just a fun series whether it's time trials, event races, long endurance races, online races, licence tests, or other challenges.

Because its a car game with nice graphics, and high car count.
Everything else i can look elsewhere.
I am a graphics whore though.

There's just this feeling when you play GT that's unique to this game. You can say this has better this, this has better that about any racing game but for me, GT has that special little place in my heart and the feeling you get when you drive is just perfect and is a formula PD invented and perfected.

But that's just me :P

simply because its the best racing sim and gives me the best graphics choice of cars and tracks in the video gaming industry.

I like playing GT, because I'm a huge car fan since I was 6, and starting to like Formula one and other types of motor sports when I was 8. My dad back then work at Mitsubishi Motors and sometimes he brings me to their car dealership and show me a lot of stuff like turbos, exhaust system, etc. And then one day my friend got a PSone for his birthday, and told me to come over and play, then he put on the demo disc to try out some games, he came over to this game called gran turismo and I don't know what the hell it was then suddenly it shows cars racing around track, so i told him to select that game to try it out. And man, the first game play blew my mind on how awesome, challenging, fun, and attention to detail had put into this game, so I've said to my self, "this is the game for me" and that same feeling keeps coming every time a new gran turismo comes out. I guess this is what happen when you've been a car nut all your life.

Because I dont have the chance to drive Ferraris,Corvettes,F1 cars etc in real life. Oh and its a whole lot safer and cheaper on the PS3. :)

Because GT allows me to race against my neighbours' and friends' real sensible cars without being fined :) Who would win: my Opel Corsa or his Renault Clio, her Fiat Punto, their Peugeot 206...? Now I have the answer ^_^

These games are authentics motoring libraries.

Cuz when i was a kid i loved those big old car books, even the "bluebook" style ones (we have some annuals ones in QC with full color pictures) and i just wished there was a way i could really explore them, until 1997 when GT came.

To race professionaly though that will always be a dream for me
To drive cars I will never set eyes or hands on.
And maybe one day, I will be brave enough to drive my car around the green hell. If I've got the money to drive all the way over there, and have a blast for 10 or so minutes.

I originally played GT because I enjoyed racing games, I wasn't nearly as interested in cars back then. The first GT just kind of exploded my interest in cars and though I still enjoy racing games but to a lesser degree, I'd say my primary reason for buying GT games these days is down to my interest in cars.

I play GT and have a sim racing cockpit to get women. The women love a good cockpit.

I play to get into the zone, those moments where i'm completely focused on the race and my senses are only focused on the game, it even feels like a 6th sense sometimes. My lap times get quicker, i see the whole track and car as if it was a part of myself, the game becomes an extension of my soul, i know what will happen at any given moment, i don't know if anybody else has those kind of moments, but i just love it when that happens, and after the race is over, it's just pure bliss, and the need to achieve that feeling again and again :)

i also love collecting cars and tuning them too, slow cars, fast cars, it's all about the Gran Turismo experience, no other game comes close to that for me.

Nope, you dont need a psychiatrist, i've felt that as well, and its utterly sublime. I cant believe how a mere game can transmit those feelings to me. I think that such feelings, blended with the hedonistic experience of owning hundreds of your dreamed machines, winning them with a certain effort, and the endless amount of opportunities you have to tune your cars (how can you explain that GT4 forums still have activity? especially in the tunning section?) is what makes GT unique.
