Yeah it isn't that bad at all. The first Event was very entertaining and the Top Gear track is a pretty cool track and watching that Viper driven by Stig take it was heart stopping.

I don't like the big Flannel guy, he's kinda annoying but the younger one is a pretty good driver.

So far with this episode, the standard Top Gear segments was done really well. The biggest flaw has to be the host don't seem natural or have any good chemistry with each other. The part when they are in the Suzuki on the Top Gear track wasn't really funny but kind of annoying. It didn't seem natural at all. "Hey guys I brought my helmet. What you didn't get yours?" "Stop stop, lets eat a sandwich." Yeah that did seem scripted and a bad attempt to get the funny interactions the host have on the BBC Top Gear. But so far so good.

Next event.

The hosts aren't really all that into it. But it could be way worse.

Edit:
I just saw the commercial for the next Top Gear. And they were trying to teach a blind man to drift. That looks pretty good haha.

Adam's my favorite by far and the other two are pretty funny too. I was looking forward to the challange with the Caddy and stuff, but I can wait.

Well I liked it. It was fun and enjoyable! :D In actually, it seems like all three are funny and they actually do get along okay to me. Love the Cobra challenge. Was it reckless? Yes. Was it awesome? Yes. Buzz was cool talking about his old cars. I loved the Lambo battle royale! A simple race and Tanner lost to both of them! HAHA I hope they gloated for days about that because I would! :) --- Randy

It was meh. About a 6.5 out of 10, the BBC's being 10 out of 10. I'll probably watch the rest of the season.

I didn't find it terrible, I'll probably watch it next week, but there could have been room for improvement. The hosts were okay, getting a laugh out of me every now and again. I've never watched TGUK, and while most of you know it's just the best, I can't compare it, unfortunately.

Now I want to see that Top Gear Track in GT. :sly:

God I hate Adam, he tries too hard. Tanner seems to add the most to me, I really like hear his car comments.

Anyway, I suggest that everyone get over their initial bias and give it a shot, it's a really good Car show. So far atleast, some of the previews scare me. Anyway, wow I didn't know that Viper ACR was so much better than those Lambos. I still prefer Adam's Murcielago myself.

Well, we can look on the bright side, at least we know what they need to improve on. To be honest, that wasn't very good, but it can only get better. I'll stick in there and hope that it does.

Still better than American Pickers.

Loved the first episode, the American Track is amazing, the only thing missing from that is that dramatic bump that almost killed Tom Cruise in the UK version.
The hosts don't seem to work well together, but the show is new and that's something that doesn't just work well from the start. Can't wait to watch this series mature. I didn't start watching the UK version from the start, so this should make up for that.
The only thing I'm concerned about is the guy with the glasses, he looks as confused about his place on the show as everyone else is.

I'm watching it right now and I'm one of the haters but so far it's kinda interesting. I like this Dodge test but I'm sure they're going to kill someone soon....

How reckless? No wonder they couldn't get any other state to allow it. Still entertaining now though, but I think the danger and chase is why.

Umm, are you saying them being reckless is a bad thing?
You must REALLY hate TGUK. I don't think pushing an already dangerous camper off a cliff, or driving a reliant robin quickly around a corner is really considered responsible.
That's one of the reasons I love the original so much, and I'm glad that's one of the traits that was carried over in the US version.

It's ok. A lot of the challenges in the preview were ones I remember TG UK doing.

Liked the Lambo. challenge and the fact that 2 of the hosts are already picking shots at Foust for drifting.
2 things though:
1. After all the cars driven, Tanner pulls the "Anyone can drive AWD"? Ok, I know the UK guys do this, but it's funny because they're so sarcastic and actually bicker.
2. Really Tanner? How the hell would the SV not look aerodynamic enough?

I also noticed that Foust reviews the exact same way he did on Supercars Exposed.

Will watch the show for the cars primarily, but Foust needs to get off the drifting comments and the serious attitude when making comments.

I'm hoping that the presenters will start to do better as the show goes on. There sure is a lot of potential in the show, but I think all three of the presenters need to loosen up a bit and just have a good time. I'm sure they could pull something off almost as good as TGUK if they found their groove. Hopefully it's just something that will take time.

Also, I think the track is too tight for the sort of cars that they will be driving on there. The layout is sweet but I think they just need to scale it up a bit. Make the corners wider and less tight and make the straights longer. I feel like bit supercars like the Murcielago SV are at a disadvantage there.

For a pilot episode, it could have been far, far worse. Still, it's plainly obvious they need to walk away from so much scripting and just let the guys be guys and say what they're feeling. The show feels awkward, but if you go back to the early episodes of Top Gear UK, it was pretty similar.

I though the show was a completely awkward experience, the three commentators make it seem that way and the fat guy with the undershirt has to go to have a half decent show. It would've been nice if NBC or some big time television company would've done it and brought Travis Pastrana, Ken Block and some of their friends over to make the show instead of these three doofus. I guess I am too attached to the original UK Top Gear and I see Clarkson making fun of our American Top Gear in the new episodes.

I liked it. Cinematography nowhere near the british version but still considering it's the first episode it's good. They have some stuff to work out still but it looks to be a nice show. I did not like it so much at the start, but the end left me wanting more. Like I said, it's not as good as the original version of top gear but it's quite entertaining. I just hope people start watching it so they can acquire a better budget and put more into the show.

-> Now watching USTG on PST time. Comparing to all the 1st episodes of TGUK 2002, TGAU, & TGRS; USTG stands its own! I would say that TGRS was way worse, and I'm ranking USTG almost as good as TGUK and far above TGAU. Not bad for a 1st episode attempt! Far better than any US car show currently to date yes even Motorweek and Jay Leno's Garage.

#1 Top Gear UK 2002 version
Top Gear (US) - pending, show not over yet
#2 Top Gear Australia
#3 Top Gear Russia

;)

I find the hosts rather boring, but I'm sure as time goes on their personalities will improve. I just can't wait to see Clarkson make fun of these guys, especially the fat one.

mike46and2-> Wow, talk about cost cutting there then.

-> I rather not compare established episodes of Top Gear around the world to USTG. I would rather watch their 1st episodes of each version. TGUK 2002's 1st episode wasn't as good as the current season 15 either... :indiff:

-> Finished the 1st episode of US Top Gear. Now I have to watch the 1st episode of Top Gear UK 2002 next...

EDIT-> Just watched the very first episode (S1Ep1) of TGUK 2002. And if I compare it to the current Series 15 of TGUK, it sucked way way bad. Jason Dawe was a snoozer, Richard Hammond was still tied to his other TV show Brainiac and Clarkson was still stuck from the 1977 version (aka. Old Top Gear/current Fifth/5th Gear) commentary. But still, Clarkson was the only a one man show back then. And if I compare this to the 1st episode of Top Gear US, I should say they're just about equal. Top Gear US lacked the emphasis of real-world cars and tries to be TGUK Series 10 too hard. Other than that, TG USA is on a right track...just give these blokes some time. :)

I know theres a lot of comparison going on with this Top Gear and the BBC one but my comment on them being reckless was a standalone comment not a way to nit pick at the show because I'm a super faithful TopGear UK viewer. It was just a comment that them racing a Viper through an actual town was reckless.

They need better interior cameras. The picture quality drops dramatically on those shots.

Tanner is perhaps the most boring speaker I've ever seen on a car show. He knows what he's doing, he knows what he's talking about, but his attempts to be amusing, probably scripted, come off as very unnatural.

I very much enjoyed the Viper/Cobra sequence, was disappointed in the Buzz Aldrin spot ("You went to the moon, let's look at your lap!") and the Lambos was enjoyable, other than not having a clue where the end of the "standing mile" was.

The first few seasons of the UK Version sucked, too. But as the show progressed the hosts built up chemistry, and the show became less about cars and more about three friends hooning about in dream cars and beaters. Which makes it the great show it is today.

If the American version is given the gift of time, I'm sure we'll see it slowly improve.

They have always said on Top Gear that a race car driver never has anything interesting to say...

That thing I said about you hating TGUK was a joke, should have been more clear. After all, no one could really hate the original Top Gear.

And I was making a point that them being reckless is what makes the show so good.
