Car count and the magic 4 digit number are the reason they are keeping standards to begin with. I highly doubt they will be looking at ways to cut the car count by eliminating duplicates. They counted cars with white paint (base models) as part of the new car count for GT6. The number is obviously very important to them, regardless of it's validity.
This is a disgraceful fact of PD. They set the bar so low and don't care that they've done it. They're reluctant to take out the axe no matter how badly stuff falls short of quality. They just want to boast big numbers, now matter how cheap those numbers are. They have no shame.
The fanboys are bad, too. Looking back to GT5 as an example, since that was the last GT I got around to playing so far, the fanboys loved to count those 800+ PS2 cars when boasting about how many cars GT5 had, but when we're talking about graphics and how pretty the game looks they like to forget that 80% of the content that looks like crap. You don't get to count them when it's a plus and disregard them when it's a minus. If you want to boast about how GT5 had over a thousand cars, you also have to criticize the game for looking like a steamy turd since most of the game looked right at home on PS2.
In all honesty, standards will bring down the overall quality of GT7 if you ask me. Didn't a wise man once say Quality over Quantity?
Model the standards that people want into Premium cars, 1 from each car's series or generation, chuck the rest, boom, the end and Everyone's happy.
Cry me a river. The series lost a great number of wonderful cars going from GT2 to GT3, never to be seen again in neither future Gran Turismo titles or elsewhere. But it felt like a natural step going into next-gen at the time and making the wise decision not to compromise the overall quality of the game. Do I miss them and want them back? I would be mad to say no. In retrospect though, I'm glad that they didn't go the ''standard'' route with GT3, because I do believe it made for a better game. But then I don't want to loose cars , I can't drive in any other game. Once those cars (that may not interest you and your friends ,but may interest me and my friends) are out of GT they will not come back and a that part of virtual automotive history will be lost, unless you think T10,SlightlyMad or any other dev out there is interested in making ie. SUZUKI ALTO or 60's Japanese cars ... hell yeah.

Because it's driving everything else backwardsBig reason why GT2 is a much better game than GT3. I don't know about you, but I want the option to drive every car in existence. The more cars, the better. Graphics and physics can't go backwards, so why should the car count?
Yh, we lost really great cars (Vector, Venturi, Lotus Elise GT1, etc), that should of make it till now. Atleast the car count increased considerably in GT4, returning with only some from GT2. It would be a great idea if they could make new "LM" cars like CR-X del sol LM or FTO LM (FTO STC is not that good, FTO LM was a blast in GT2 and GT3), S2000 LM( I won't consider the car we have now as LM. its a 300hp.. in GT3 it was a monster) etc. Some RM cars from GT5 look ok, but they kinda lost their magic from the race cars from previous Gran Turismo game..Big reason why GT2 is a much better game than GT3. -_-How is having more cars driving anything else backwards?
Because it clearly has a negative impact on the overall quality of the game, resulting a cringeworthy and inconsistent experience - as if other poor design decision weren't enough.Graphics and physics can't go backwards, so why should the car count?
I understand the fact that modelling the cars are taking much longer time than before. However, if PD didn't rely on the PS2 ports to begin with, perhaps we would have a far more varied line-up.GT would be too boring and won't feel as varied as before, as it doesn't have the perfect premium car list.. Gone with GROUP C cars, gone with all Group A Rally Cars, gone with all JGTC cars.. unless they make them premium obviously, but takes too long time to do it.
Why delete perfectly good cars? .
You truly aren't a car enthusiast if you think it's okay to get rid of 50% of the cars in the game.
For most people the deletion would be a blessing. Yes I'd lose 800 cars, but I couldn't be any happier if they announce the deletion of standards.I understand your frustration, but PD simply doesn't want to spend the time or money on turning every standard car into premium. Deleting standard cars isn't going to solve any problem, but it will create a new one, that being fewer cars to choose from.
But no other game comes close to 1200 cars. It's not like there won't be any cars without the standardsWith the exception of GT3, each new GT has increased the car count. I don't think they want to decrease the car count ever again, at least I hope they don't.
I really think you can't say that with any assurance whatsoever, considering the poll around here indicates that fully two-thirds of those voting are getting GT7 and don't care about the Standards issue. I also think it's quite dodgy to insist that the small car and track count in GT3 is what people wanted. Just look at Forza 4 and 5. A bunch of fans have served notice that they aren't interested in a drastic cutting back of the cars and tracks in F5, and MS had better keep those F4 servers running. And they are. Forza 6 may go back to the usual F4 levels and all will be hunky dory and F4 can be killed off, but that's a pretty significant indication that given a choice, gamers almost always choose more. For most people the (Standard) deletion would be a blessing.
Oh my god, not this againI really think you can't say that with any assurance whatsoever, considering the poll around here indicates that fully two-thirds of those voting are getting GT7 and don't care about the Standards issue.
First of all, the duplicates are the ones that need to go or if they dont atleast they all get a semi-premium improvement. Second of all, I was also thinking about the interior issue why not copy paste the duplicates and blur them out sorta like GRID has them. This is one thing some may not get in my posts. Standards have to go like I said, but, and I say BUT. PD should look at what standard cars are popular and chuck in the Premium basket. That way, everyone gets the cars they want and the standards can go. Out with the old, in with the new.
600

(Its better then having a black cockpit all the time if ya ask me)
And finally, the magic number is 600 premiums!
Deleting fictional duplicates is what should happen.First of all, the duplicates are the ones that need to go or if they dont atleast they all get a semi-premium improvement.
