Pcars is a sim? Huh, I thought it was just NFS Shift with better graphics

EDIT: I mean I guess you could consider Shift a sim. It would be easy to call Shift a sim, until you start driving, that is. Then it just becomes your typical NFS game. Pcars is pretty much the same.
HUH? They have been tweaking the physics to make it more realistic with real race drivers employed to give feedback on the car physics. Its not just a NFS Shift rebuild.

It's really not that much better either.

GT6 so far is definitely more realistic physics wise. GT6 really is the only console came so far that can compete with PC sims, and it beats a few so far.

It reminds me a lot of netkar pro and assetto corsa which is a huge compliment. Those are the 2 most realistic sims out there.

I would, and it's for the same reason's as HuskyGT's. It may not be the perfect Gran Turismo Game I wanted, but it will still be a bit better then Gran Turismo 5.

I suppose you're right , because GT6's simcade physics is much better.

I will get it just because its GT and i have a serious mental disorder because i hold on to the hope that GT6 will be great.

But based on the demo it is exactly how i thought it would be - another case of PD not listening to anyone but themselves and Kaz caring more about his racing (non) carear than the game and the fans that got him into that position.

I will, definitely because this demo is just a placeholder so it has nothing to do with the final game and because in my twisted mind I see a perfect GT6 with perfect sounds, graphics and physics.

Just stoppin' in to let you know: I get it. I really do.

Why bother? Sarcasm that high can't be measured on a scale. :sly:

You're right...it goes off the sarcasm scale and onto the "Hysterical Hyperbole" scale...which of course no one listens to. :)

Had quit playing GT5 some time ago and the demo doesn't convince me that 6 will be that much different. I have other racing games to keep me busy, I will wait to see what GT on the PS4 will bring.

i might but the cars tires screech loudly from a simple turn and the home page looks wierd other than that yes
I'm just curious - how does GT Home look weird? I thought it looked quite elegant and all of the menus options certainly seem far more responsive.

I'm not going to buy GT6 based on the demo, nor am I going to be dissuaded from buying GT6 based on the demo - unless all of my friends refuse to buy it (like that's ever going to happen) I'm going to buy it, simply because the PS3 is on it's last legs and I might as well go out on this generation of consoles the same way I came in - playing an exclusive racing series that isn't Forza in an installment that happens to be a multiple of 3.

I'll buy it because of the new cars, events and tracks. It's basically identical to GT5 graphically so that doesn't really influence my decision at this point.

I buy all Gran Turismo. What else do we have on consoles???

I am very anxious to see how Project CARS will end up being though. it looks great

When is pCars coming out anyway?

It seems to have been "nearly ready" for years and still there is no mention of when we can expect it!

It started development in 2011. No release date confirmed yet but I think they're in the alpha phase right now.

I know, it looks flipping amazing!

GT better step up its game because its looking like what GT should have been and definitely looking forward to it.

I just want it now! :-D

For me yes. The physics make we want to try out all the cars in the full game, and feel more of a difference between the cars.

I think it looks weird my opinion though I didn't like how Sunday cup and clubman where mushed together it scares me if there's going to be more challenges in the small box and I'm really used to gt5 gtlife

It's probably just a rationalisation of the structure, so saving the amount of 'pages' we need to go through to get to a race. I don't know that of course but if all of the A-spec events are in the one box, so they won't be all squashed in there but likely be scrollable as the whole menu presently is.

In fact, there is no mention of license tests, arcade mode, course maker or online in the current GT6 menu, so these will presumably be added - okay, the Free Run sub heading under the My Home/Garage might link through to arcade, but you get what I'm saying.

In the end, each title has had it's own GT Home layout - so expect differences.

It does look amazing..it's also not on a PS3, an not video from a $499 computer from Best Buy. If it comes to PS3 and I don't think it will, it won't look that good, PS3 just doesn't have the legs for that. If it comes to PS4 and looks that good and the gameplay and physics are there, it'll be a reason for me to buy both.

Right, a game playing on a state of the art piece of equipment that costs many times more than a PS3 with 7 year old technology is what GT6 should look like. What colour is the sky in your world?💡

Just show me again where i said GT6, i think i have mislaid it!?

It will no doubt be competing with GT7 on PS4 though so PD need to up their game quick time!

MeanElf
You did say 'GT' phil...and even GT7 will be behind a gaming rig in specs - closer, true, but still behind.

Yes Gran Turismo as a brand/series, not GT6!

And since when did having powerful hardware automatically equal a good game?

But i'm on about both being on PS4 not one on PC and one on PS4 obviously thats not fair.

Many regard GT3 on PS2 as better than GT5 on PS3 and i would certainly say GT3 and 4 are better than every other PS3 racing game bar GT5 which i would say is about equal.

I was refering to the whole package though, the way the developers actually listen and communicate, the sounds, the look of a race track not a sterile, atmosphereless place like GT.
Thats what i meant by PD need to step up their game, especially the communication!

"What GT should have been" is past tense, therefore you can only be referring to GT5 or the GTA demo. Hence my more than valid comments. Any comparison between a pc sim and a console sim will always leave the console coming up short even with the most Herculean of efforts on the part of the console team. That may change at some point in the future, but it holds true for at least the next several years too.

As a fan of the series, if I was one of those who never played a GT game...I won´t buy GT6 after the demo.

Unplayable from cockpit view because of the frame drops, shadows and texture pop up everywhere, the horrible AI (which I know that it is just there to put some traffic in the game and it is not even close to the Arcade mode of GT5), those bugs at Silverstone ("invisible walls" in some curves) and the engine sounds...
I´ll probably get other game.

PD is publishing this game for the fans more than for the rest of possibly new customers.

Also I feel that the game is "starting to feel old" because of the content...they are using almost the same tracks for a decade and a half (there are new ones, great and with features as day/night cycles and weather, as it should be), the events are boring because of the bad AI and are almost exactly the same since the first game...so we are actually playing the same game over and over again if you think about it.

Playing GT5 was like playing GT4 but with less features and events, or "half made" ones like the 24hr races without AI´s to help us out at least as an option like in GT4.

Kaz is always talking about perfection or drama and such things, but he is improving in some areas...forgetting others and not adding too much to the fun and racing aspect of the game.

We now have online and that is good, and other cool things...but I always bought GT for the single player and it should be good and it should be changed just because of the sake of the game itself and the whole series.

This is not Fifa or PES which are about football that you know what is it going to be with its slight improvements each year...GT feels like that for me lately. (I´m 28 and play GT since the first one)
You can add new cars, new tracks and improve the graphics...that is cool but the content and the features should be good executed and at the same time varied.

There is not too much to add to a racing game but "we" (some) are always asking for what it is missing...and that is what can make the game not just better for us, but for others who never played a GT game.
If sounds don´t call your attention in a racing game you won´t buy it, if it comes without cool features (livery editors, customization overall...hell check the new GTA V trailer and watch how you can customize your cars, I was like O_O and it is not even a racing game...)...etc etc...

I´m going to buy it for sure because it is a GT game but the game need a complete overhaul in tons of areas...change names of the series for the sake of it and make proper "fake" leagues similar to the ones in real life with different names (FIA GT with the GT Cars in the game), put realistic engine sounds in the cars, the livery editor and freedom with colours, customization for the cars and for the parts (change size of wheels, spoilers, etc), features...better finished than half made ones, if we have weather and day/night cycles put that in all tracks, etc...

The game is huge, it has a lot of cars and content but some games with less cars (most of the simulators on PC) and less content make a more entertained experience and they give you just the proper features that you really need and not those that you won´t need in a racing game.

If one day GT changes something, it will still be Gran Turismo...shooters get boring, football games get boring...EVOLUTION is what makes them playable and enjoyable till these days.
Same needs to happen with GT...it needs to evolve into something more than 1000+ cars, and tons of features.

/Rant over...I know TL DR. At least you know I was really pissed with the demo now...(got all golds fast and I don´t want to touch it any more...)

It would end up like Forza's layout, hundreds of tiny squares as events, it actually works pretty good. It's a bit awkward in the beginning but after a few races you'll hate A-spec/B-spec layout.
