I don't know about you but I am mildly disappointed with the way GT5 is turning out and I know of many people on these boards who are very disappointed. My question is, do you think PD could have avoided a lot of this disappointment by just keeping us in the loop and telling us what they were planning earlier? It seems like all of us got our hopes and expectations up so high and now when it turns out that GT5 isn't exactly what we all wanted it to be, we start to lose interest a bit. That's my opinion. Whats yours?

What disappointment?, they show arcade mode, who knows if the damanged cars can be killed in GT mode.. Stop whining!

But lets say Damage is only Visual.. You might be right why PD had hid the info for a long time, but at the same time, they never realease too much even with GT4 and even Prologue.

Sorry but some of us were expecting some really big things out of GT5 and so far PD has failed to live up to them IMO.

Why were you expecting these things though? Neither PD or Kaz has promised anyone anything, so 'some of us' have been building false hopes.

I don't know, there are so many mixed feelings in the air right now. I'm very confused. Even Amar admitted yesterday that he was confused as well!

Wow some people are really positive. We got a thousand cars and still some people are disappointed and they complain about damage.
BTW I didn't vote but anyway some persons would have been complaining even if they would have released the info sooner.

They haven't given us any info at all. People's current thinking - all of them - is generated from the vicarious experiences of IGN/Gamersyde playing a 3-minute single-car, single-track demo and their own imagination.

Anyone disappointed is crazy! This will be a whole different experience than GT4, and Forza... well, Forza has nothing on that gameplay footage!

I wouldn't go as far as saying that I'm disappointed at the way things have turned out. Because right now, even though information is slowly making its way it, it are still only moderately small pieces of information.

Disappointed is what I would be if I got the game and I didn't enjoy myself, and felt like I wasted my money. The chances of that happening are slim. Sure, there's always some misgivings you'd prefer to be otherwise, but for now all we have is second hand information. The best way to assess the game is to play it for yourself. In that way, it's perfectly possible that a lot of the mentioned features or absence of some of those won't really influence the fun I have with the game.

It's all a matter of perception really. In general, it takes a lot worse news than this to ruin my day and convince me not to buy GT5 :)

I don't see why people are so upset over this. It's damage. Yes it would be cool but we've all made it this far without it. I just want a racing game with good graphics, good physics, and a lot of cars. If they just gave us GT4 with a little more cars and better graphics I'd be happy. I guess I'm not going to criticize anything thing until I can play it for myself. Plus if there was damage on all the cars what would that bring. The first week it would be cool but then once you start getting into the game it would get annoying becuae you'd always have to fix it, it would slow you down and stuff. I haven't seen people get so worked up over one thing. Well, thats my rant I guess, and also why I voted no. I'm just glad the game is coming, sooner or later.

To be honest, as long as I can tune a car (Turbo kits, exhaust, suspension, etc...), I'll be perfectly content.

I've come to expect GT to be GT; it's always going to be good. If PD is kind enough to throw some goodies in; lovely.

can someone tell me please because i am confused with different answers. question is are we getting ONLY 170 cars with cockpit view and the rest of the 800 odd from gt4 or whatever are not i repeat NOT going to have cockpit views.

if this is the case then im deeply dissapointed

No-one. Knows.

However, there weren't "800 odd" cars in GT4 to transfer so however you look at it that part cannot be true.

I have mixed feelings, IGN will post a full inteview with KAZ, maybe then he will talk about something we don't know and clear some things up..

But, the TGS is big one to wait for.

I'm not dissapointed at all, 1000 cars, PSEye tracking and more! Plus much more to come.

^listen to this man, he hasn't been wrong since 1973.

no. because pessimists would have been whining just as much back then, and even more since they would need to wait longer until the next game event.

Porsches are not likely
No sign of weather or day/night cycles
Damage appears limited to certain cars.

Yeah, I'm disappointed so far, but then again, that's about par for the course when it comes to PD.

Yes I think they could have avoided some disappointment by giving more information, it would be certainly a lot nicer if there was a steady enough stream of official releases that the community were satisfied (rather than taking a small detail and extrapolating it into something big. While PD certainly cant be accused of getting our hopes up and then disappointing us, I do think its only natural that the community will be disappointed when a big event happens with little new information.

That said it does seem that there is a significant proportion of people on here who dont care what info is released, if its not a release date its dosnt matter. (And to be honest I suspect for the most part they are going to be the same people who will complain about the game once its released.....)

they made our emaginations run crazy, especially after the e309 trailer were they showed damage they should have told us right there that its only on 10% of the cars

Great, another "I'm so dissapointed because PD didn't give us any news" thread. Yet another example of something that was only hinted as "possibly" or "likely" yet people managed to somehow think it was "promised". As I said sometime ago, you set yourselfs up for failure when you set false expectations. PD nor Sony are to blame, only you and your overly hyped hopes are to blame.

Exactly. Just the little bit I saw there makes me feel as excited as I did when the E3 trailer was shown and I was excited to the point to where I have now watched it at least 54 timesI actually counted too). I might end up doing the same with the videos

I would be Hugely disappointed if most of the cars have no cockpit view.. grrrr.
I was expecting weather to show up at this time ..maybe in the TGS

I personally am a little disappointed. The E3 video made everybody expect damage, and since then people have either made up their minds that it'll be solely on race cars and others have made up their minds that it'll be on all cars.
So, the former can now sit smug with an I-told-you-so look on their faces :dopey:
Bt the latter will be disappointed. I know I am.
However, if PD had just given a little press release along with the video saying that at the moment it's looking likely that damage will only be modelled on racecars, it would've saved all that. Then, if they did get round to having damage on all cars, it'd be a massive bonus!
Just seems nicer to me :) But PD have never really been that good at the PR side of things! :P

i never said they were 800 odd cars if you read further on i say "or whatever" meaning "or whatever" is correct.

but thanks for the answer

This. Expect nothing, and whatever you get will be a bonus.

Playing devil's advocate, and along the lines of the thread's title, you have to wonder if such false hopes would have got as though if a constant stream of info was released regularly.
