Worst you've dealt with online...

There some ridiculous thing where hosts say that you have to go a certain speed limit or else a cop will chase you and give you a ticket. You get 3 tickets and have to switch to a different car or else kicked from lobby. I normally use these lobbies as an excuse to cruise around in one of my cars for fun.

It'll never catch on...

Basically, the host sets a speed limit for the whole track, which is typically 60-75 MPH. There are players driving around as cops. If you are not playing the cop role, you are either a street racer or civilian. Civilians typically follow the rules, while street racers do not. If you are seen speeding, a cop has to pull you over and issue you a ticket. After you get 3 tickets, you have to change your car. If you don't change your car, you'll most likely get kicked.

Well this thread took off in the half-hour I went afk.
I absolutely despise cops/crooks lobbies. To those who like them, more power to ya. Personally I don't care for them. I joined one and got rammed by a blacked out M5 flashing his lights (failed attempt at unmarked police car?). I pulled over, then the M5 driver said in the mic: Kick Jeep he's in a hacked M3. I was booted (this was back when 2.11 was the latest update). I wrote him a nice love letter and added him to block list. I wasn't even driving my hacked M3, just a regular one. Idiots. :grumpy:
I would recommend GTA TBoGT online free mode for cops/crooks lobbies, but then again there's APCs and helicopters and...ah forget it.

Could backfire if good players are punted off by bad players

Yes, there would be times when the wrong driver would get burned by the system somewhat, but I don't think many people would endorse a system where one automatically-detected incident would immediately get you kicked out of a race(or room) -- unless maybe it involves driving backwards for an extended period or intentionally parking on the racing surface. And yes if you're having an unlucky day you could conceivably end with a "worse" rating than you started with.

Over time however, the clean drivers will invariably tend to be in less incidents than the rammers. The cleaner drivers will have contact and cut corners when they make mistakes or when they are dealing with jerks or lousy drivers, while the others will tend to have those issues in nearly every race. There is also a certain logic to suggest that even if you are a fairly clean and competent driver(or at least legitimately attempting to be), yet you are repeatedly getting involved in such incidents(even if rarely your fault), there is probably something about your driving that you could be doing differently that would help.

The biggest hangup is with the automatic detection systems assigning blame or declaring an unfair advantage(or other rule violation like overtaking under yellow). I'm not sure if any game has really gotten it right, and most get it very very wrong in at least certain cases. GT5 certainly has a way to go to make it work right, that's for sure. It is quite complex to work out how to detect fault and cheating automatically in all but a few obvious cases if you really stop and think about it. And even if you can make it accurate, you have to balance how much time the computer is thinking about analyzing people's behavior with thinking about other things like physics and player inputs and graphics and collecting data they have no business collecting to send off to marketers and maintaining that all-important real-time connection to Faceb00k.

Slight tangent: It would be really nice if when implementing such systems we were given control of specifically when cars are allowed to automatically turn to ghosts. GT5's penalty system gets more than a bit silly with the ghosting sometimes, and lappers(particularly in races 15 minutes or more in length) should only be ghosted if the host deems it necessary due to prior problems or suspect drivers.

I suppose there is probably a thread already dedicated to this discussion somewhere on the Planet.

I noticed something stupid today while i was in a dirty shuffle room.Everyone is in a car that is in the 360-400 range(normal street cars)but the host is in a car that would be in the 500 pp range(aka the supercars).I though he was lucky when i saw him get a supercar and we was in normal street cars. But,he did the same thing three times in a row.then i thought he must be hacking. So,i reported him in playstation network's grief reporting site.

Modding truly does bring out the best and worst in players.

Thanks guys :)👍

People laughing at others for being such a shat driver.

People laughing at others for not being as fast, have had words with a few people about that, we all started slow!

I have an idea....!

I've noticed when in a room for a nice race or drift, some hormonal muppet will come the other way or intentionall ram you at every given opportunity, as many of you have already pointed out. My solution is this:

The PS4 should come complete with a small device to which a small calibre hand gun can be attached. This could be in place of the PS camera thingy....... Once moron-ish behaviour is detected, the guilty user is shot - problem solved and we can all enjoy the game for what it is!

They could even have room areas just for people who want to ram each other (erm, ya know what I mean...) and use of these rooms for said behaviour would mean their otherwise normal lives could be spared! :) :)

Just my opinion you understand..... LoL

(P.s, for legal reasons it must be noted that the above point of view is meant as a joke and I will not be held responsible if Sony pick up on this and start popping people off in the future) he he!

Just last night I was in an endurance NASCAR lobby at daytona, 50 laps. Well my car was rather
"Loose" in its setup and thus was eating through tires much to quickly to be a front runner. Well just a few laps after my second pit I come up on this 14 year old leaving the pits, I had heard him talking earlier and he seemed alright (I try and give our younger players the benefit of the doubt anyway, most of us were young when we started)
Well I'm a lap down anyway and there nobody around, so I slow down to about 150mph so he can catch my draft and not have to be alone (two cars are faster than one anyway). Well he drafts me and manages to pass before I manage to hit top speed, but his car is about 15mph slower than mine on the straits, so I make a wide pass on the back strait so he can draft me again and we can haul some *ss. That lil schitt slams me into the wall! Luckily I hit pretty square and only lost 5-6 lengths. So I'm thinking maybe he was trying to move outta the way and zigged instead of zagged, so I catch up and try coming in low on turn 1, he's up high so I've got tons of room.
This kid decides to pit maneuver me! So I end up flying into the bank and 20ft in the air, luckily for me one if the cool adults in the room was in sight of it and he called the kid out. Of course he said I started it, but me not having a mic was like trying to mime my way through a high school debate. Long story long, he ended up in charge of the room so I left before he had the satisfaction on kicking me out.

Sorry it's so dang long, I just needed to rant at somebody!

BTW, is it just me or did the hacked car ban not really work? I've been in at least 5 rooms with hacked cars this week.

It only removed engine, chassis, drivetrain, and transmission swaps. The only thing left is horsepower multipliers and I think you can still remove spoilers and bumpers on some cars.

Spoilers, no. Bumpers, yes. The stupidest patch ever.

All the decent stuff we cant use, like engine and aspiration swaps, all the cheating multi million horsepower stuff we can... Agreed on the Stupidest patch ever bit...

Well, in fairness, the only real solution would be to limit HP for cars, because the HP multiplier is what "tunes" your engine... They couldn't get rid of it or else we couldn't add power to our cars.

Those hacking morons are lucky - If I were in charge they would have all been PSN banned and lost their entire garage and identity.

"oh but my realistic hybrid..."

Good grief.

Wrong, the horsepower, weight, and grip multipliers no longer work. The way they are getting horsepower

now is multiplying parts, also downforce can still be added or taken away from any car.

They must still work as they're cropping up online. The only aspect I was talking about was power, not downforce or weight or any other measurement. They're still online; so the HP multiplier must be working still.

HP multiplication is done another way now.

Oh the irony.

All of the stuff that people were complaining about us still able to be done, but everything else that wasn't cheating is gone. You can thank PD for their half 🤬 update.

Yep seems that way. I never used it. All I have ever done is test the hidden comfort hard tires, realistic engine swaps, paint the cars that couldn't be painted before, and that's it.

Never did chassis swaps or anything.
