Breaking online story! Don't you hate it when people come and play horrible music through their mics?
Bad music yes, good music no, you can't beat racing into the night with 70s rock alongside your NASCAR race, thanks OLDSKOOLZIN best mic DJ ever! :D

To revive this a bit. Went online in public lobbies again since 6 months ago.

1st race: got rear ended at the start of the race by a Ferrari moving at about 200mph blasting through the grid.
2nd race: full grid at Monza, no one made it out of the first corner alive.
3rd and 4th race: pitted before the first corner
5th race: black screen for 10 minutes. That's when I decided to just turn off the PS3.

When I get kicked, I'll usually send the host a message asking: "Why kick? :("

Sometimes, I get nice answers back (Thank you, there's hope out there) and sometimes I don't.

Example nice answer:
- "I wanted to change the host position to my friend to keep the room decent, sorry." 👍

Actual bad answer: (this after just entering the room :yuck: )
- "Your a ******* loser who likes your mother's d***, that's why." 👎

^ Right. I understand. *BLOCK* :sly:

... Are people really offended by mother references in insults these days? I've never seen anyone who's offended, but people still make insults containing it. :boggled:

Hate the childish people on online lobby's. When i'm sitting in the "garage" and I see someone start talking (mic), I will tell them I'm deaf and get kicked about 15 seconds later. Hence why when I start lobby's "NO MICS"

Oh that sucks. Are you really deaf? Sorry to "hear." :(

(No pun intended, I do that because technically I'm not hearing, I'm reading what you said ;))

Yet again i was called a "mentally retarded jew." These meddling kids these days.

^ sorry to hear (NOT INTENDED) you were kicked for being deaf.

I once told a british ---wipe to change his car - he was using an X1 - as it was a room dedicated to drifting and he was ruining it for the rest of us. He did change his car, but from there on he began insulting me with jokes regarding my mother and started to target me with his car.

This bloke was also supposed to be the host  👍

In reailty, I never felt insulted and was laughing my a-- off while he went completely nuts.

I disconnected pretty quickly though.

Funniest one i head was "bastard limey"... people assume im British/English just because theres a Union Jackass next to my PSN ID

Online is the only mode that coaxed me back to try playing GT5 again after many months of absence.

I tried to play this morning and wasted over 2 hours, with a single decent 15-lap NASCAR race as my reward.

- Joined 2 rooms which were different to the title (people racing in "free-run" room, people fighting and crashing in "clean or kick" etc..)
- Joined a JGTC room and waited patiently 10 mins whilst racing finished on Nurb, then all but 2 left when host changed to Indy road, then host quit.
- Decided to try NASCAR. Joined big room of 16 people, waited for race start: host crashed on lap 2/25 and then kicked everyone in the room. Tried another NASCAR room and got black screen at race start due to cars on track/language difficulties/the fundamental bug in the game.
- Deep breathing.
- Reboot PS3, get back into GT5, joined another NASCAR race and had a good time! 15 laps and it was fierce but clean. Many different nationalities, happy times. :) Some people left and host decided to leave too. Next host seemed to be afk and others left after 10 mins...
- Tried a race at Suzuka but found 7 french guys. No problem here, but I was kicked before race start, presumably because of my UK flag.
- Turned off PS3.

PD aren't directly to blame for this, but they need to come up with solutions, because this is a typical 'session' of GT5 online for me. Between the loading screens, racism, general douchery and game bugs, It's a MASSIVE waste of time!!

So, another update - I tried hosting my own room. Just wanted some company while driving so free run on Nurb 24hr.

Room filled up fast, and I made coffee etc. whilst people joined. Occasionally, I politely tell the "START THE RACE" people that it's just practice. I go to the track and immediately find an X1 parked in the racing-line, waiting to show me how slow my car is. I swerve to avoid him and am then hassled and re-overtaken etc.. I go back to the pits and kick him. I try again and two more people are ramming each other's cars at the 1st turn run-off. They both come after me as I drive past on the track, and try to overtake cleanly on their racing softs and maxed-out Lambo SV and GT-R. I'm nudged off the track again, but decide to carry on as they continue to prank around in my personal space, and then after two minutes: "Disconnected from lobby".

Seriously. I am trying to enjoy this game but it is a horrible, annoying experience. I have high bandwidth and I try to be fair and friendly in any room. Does anyone have any tips?

What kind of rooms do you join Gfx?

Try having the setting on "Race for real" with a PP restriction around the 500-600PP mark. That will filter out all the idiots and leave you with some good drivers. 90% of the time the person to join you will be clean. You will occassionally get the idiot who wants to ram but at least you wont have a room full. Hope this helps.

If I got paid $1 everytime I got kicked out due to my nationality/flag online, I'd be rich by now.

Use the search filters. Set Skid Recovery Force to "Off", and "Race For Real" (Unless you wanna Free Run or Drift, obviously). Search for rooms with over half full. That means people are sticking around (usually, they could also jus be hosts friends, but doesn't happen that often).

Alternatively, you could get some friends online, start a room with them. A lot more fun, even if it doesn't prevent the punters, if someone does start, it's a lot of fun punting them back, especially if it's a small/wideopen track like Autumn Ring Mini or TGTT.

If you want, add me on PSN. I host the occaisional lobby. It usually goes well (On the rare occasion that people actually join >.<)

Sorry I missed your invite today, mate. Family took over the TV, had to play my role as a good little boy and be around my relatives for 7 hours.

Title = clean or kick

I was 4th in the front, at Laguna's 1st double apex left hander, and the entire pack kept hitting me non stop.

I left on my own.

Same exact thing happened to me yesterday. Minding my own business, driving carefully.. just at the last turn I become 1st because the guy spun out... I get rammed off track by 3 people including the room host. The room host clearly said clean driving or kick.. and he was the one bumping into everyone.

Then in the lobby I got kicked out because I told him to driver better and not to bump into people. Some people..... :dunce:

Those are the rooms I get super bad luck in. I find all the bad drivers in those ones. 👎 Yes, I do put region on ALL and not just my own country.

I think I finally have an experience worth posting here. I was in a room just now that had quite a few dirty drivers, but I decided to just deal with it. I was just glad I found a room that was close to being full. But when the host switched to NASCAR, that's when the true stupidity reared its ugly head.

Just about everyone was spinning out during the race, most likely due to said dirty drivers. You couldn't even last 30 seconds without some idiot pitting you and causing you to spin like a 🤬 top. It got so bad that the host quit the race and she kicked everyone. That's the last time I stay in the room with people who can't race properly.

I got kicked for the first time ever yesterday, joined a shuffle race and surprised myself with three straight wins. Took third in the next and had a great battle for a full 5 laps of cape ring, room wasn't exactly clean due to a lack of ability, getting hit from behind while breaking mainly, so the host moves onto Eiffel random tracks, this removes any track knowledge from everyone. Turn 2 host breaks super early imo, and I there is contact. Instantly branded as dirty and kicked. I was annoyed, the racing was for the most part good fun. First 3 races I was P1 from turn 1 to end, not sure how I could be dirty. The guy parked across the racing line in race 1 wasn't kicked, guy doing doughnuts in High Speed Ring tunnel, not kicked.

I think I'll stick to the leagues unless anyone rules a good Shuffle lobby after 8pm est and has a free spot.

Worst thing I dealt with online was with these 2 guys from the same drift team called Slydwayz or what ever. These guys were like JDM cool dude wannabes, This one guy was the stupid one because he would just get mad for no reason. The other guy was cool until I entered his lounge and he was saying something about this Amemiya Green FD from Touge Grand Prix so I told him isn't that the one that went against the J's Racing S2000 from TAS 2009 and he starts giving all these made up facts with Amemiya parts and starts getting mad

worst i've dealt with was in a ferrari F1 race.

i had entered a almost empty F1 lobby. there was two other people and it was 2 laps around the nurb 24hr.

as soon as the race began me and the host took the lead. then it happened..... the dipstick behind us slammed me and the host at the first corner. i managed to regain control of my car and gain about a 15 second lead as the host and the noob struggled to get out of the grass. the loser left. so me and the host finished a lap before the host said "you win dude." so we left the ring and waited for more people. we went to deep forest with about 13 people and as soon as we made it to the first corner somebody clipped another driver and it quickly became a cloud of tire smoke and cursing. this time me and the host along with some awesome driver managed to get through unscathed. then we went to trial mountain and somebody wrecked AGAIN leaving about 5 of the 13 drivers on the track to battle it out. i quickly overtook the host's F10 with my F2007 and caught up to the awesome driver. thanks to my better tuned transmission i passed him before the big hill. i slowed down to corner and then he rammed me at full speed. i tried to regain control but instead went into the wall. afterwords we dueled for 1st place for 4 laps. and then on the last lap he tried to ram me off the track. i slammed on the brakes and clipped his rear end by accident while trying to avoid getting hit. he spun into the grass and i managed to claim the checkered flag. after that he cursed me out for about 10 minutes and then after a watcher told him that he spun himself he shut up.

then the idiot from the race on nurb showed back up.
this time we were racing at daytona. on the semi-final lap he slammed me into the pits. causing me to go all the way into last. i retired from the race and watched. after the race was over the host warned him that "if you cheat again i'll kick you" so then we raced on fuji GT. this time the pressure from both noob1 and noob2 was too much. i pulled over and let them pass. so what did they do after winning? they called me "loser" and "sissy"

we went to the high speed ring for the final race. everybody else spent about 8 minutes tuning their cars. and i left mine alone. since i had my tuning perfected for my driving style. the race began and mine was quicker off the line. the noobs worked together and spun most of the other drivers out of the race. i got the lead thanks to a higher top speed and won. they proceeded to call me a cheat and requested a rematch. the nice host allowed another race and noob2 managed to pull a nasty move and get the lead early. i maintained my cool and kept tailing him til' he screwed up and wrecked. allowing me to win... he cursed for about 5 minutes and got his buddies to kick me while the host was taking a break. and he started spamming my inbox with foul language and such. claiming that "its impossible for some dumb**** like you to constantly beat superior drivers, the only explanation is that you hacked." after that i sent him a message and blocked him

the message said:

dear moron. after seeing that you liked to ram i told the host and activated ASM and SRF. its a shame someone with skills like you resorts to cheating when faced with losing. ~CNSpots1
