We all know there can be some bad people on the online trolling or generally being annoying and ruining the whole online experience, is there any way we can stop this i.e having a name and shame thread where we can identify bad racers/trolls and actively seek to avoid them?

Well I don't know about that... Seems like too much work for little in return. There are far more bad racers than we can name so really it's not very effective... My tip is to simply leave the lobby when that happens.

We used to be allowed to name and shame, just look at the first few posts of this thread, but that was stopped. Probably because naming and shaming caused a lot of arguments and because there isn't really any way to prove the claims. Not really worth the hassle to be honest.

Also is it just me or has there been a marked improvement in the standard of online lobbies recently compared to a few months ago ? I think out of about 10 lobbies I joined last week only 1 was bad and there were a lot of clean racing titled lobbies about.

Maybe they should update the online function whereby if you have a lot of reports against you pr are kicked out of a lot of lobbies then they are able to ban them off the online for a length of time. But seeing as this is PD we're talking about so this probably wont happen

No no. That could backfire to the honest racers...

I honestly don't see why everyone is so worked up about all of this, if you want the room to be a certain way then why not make it yourself and use the restrictions that you want, and you'll be able to kick people out whenever they do things like that

Because whenever i do create my own room, nobody ever joins. Or if they do, they leave straight-away. Creating my own room would work well if i already had a decent circle of friends, but i'm still in the process of trying to meet such quality drivers with good sportsmanship.

Also, a lot of rooms claim to be clean and fair, but in reality are far from it. I once came across a room titled "clean drivers please" only to find 2-3 losers who couldn't even drive properly. They just took pleasure in taking out clean drivers, while laughing at me like it's all just a big joke to them.

Another room titled "FAIR OR KICK !!!!" consisted of 2-3 respectfully clean drivers including the host and myself. The other 8-10 drivers were constantly taking me out & ramming me. The host just let it all go & refused to reply to my complaints. When a repeat offender pushed me off right in front of the host who was racing behind & saw it & still he did nothing about it... i said don't call a room fair if it's not. Then, I GOT KICKED!?

I read a reply ages ago (i can't find it now) saying "...it's not all that bad. Sure you have the 10% of losers, but the majority 90% make it all worth it." ...Or something along those lines.

Not that bad?? IT'S WORSE!! In my experience, it's more like 90% are dirty rascals & only the 10% are good quality drivers who respect other drivers enough to have an appreciation for when a fantastic-quality & clean pass is made on them.

I don't make it easy for other drivers to pass me. I don't just hand it to them on a silver platter. But if they're good enough to pick their moment & make the pass cleanly, i'll tip my hat & say "Well done!" Nothing wrong with blocking if i can see the driver in my rear-view mirror, but if he disappears, i look beside me. When i see him next to me, of course i'll leave sufficient room, whether it be the the inside/outside of a corner. But he's got to get alongside me first!

Most of the time tho, i just get pushed off the track or rammed into the wall. And if i do find a decent room, i get disconnected from PSN servers. That's also happening more and more frequently.

This has become so frustrating, & quite depressing actually, that i almost can't be bothered anymore. What's the point... :(

^This^ Exactly the same for me. 👎 I hardly ever go online anymore except for our weekly league races & the odd shuffle now & again. (SRF off)

While screaming "My ROFLTANK goes *crush crush crush crush*...

Nah, I prefer to use the ROFLCOPTER:

Anyways, a few days ago I encountered a guy who booted me from an FGT race at Indianapolis for no reason. Yes, no 🤬 reason whatsoever.

Thanks. At least there's someone who understands where i'm coming from.

I'm not a fan of shuffle races tho. I prefer certain cars for certain tracks, & i like to adjust customizable transmission & the brake controller. The last time i was in a shuffle race with 2 others, they got an Audi & a BMW, while i got a stupid RUT! Hardly fair when they mix drivetrains!? E.g. those copping 4WDs are put at a severe disadvantage to those with FRs.

But anyhow, on the provisor that you're a clean driver, i just sent you a friend request. Cheers.

There were a TON of noobs online last night. Is GT5 currently on sale, or offered in a bundle?

Ahh so i wasn't just imagining it.... iT seemed nearly every room full of these dirty rascals! The only decent room i could find, i couldn't seem to connect to.

And just on that note...
I tried that "Internet Connection Test" and for the 1st time today, i was able to join a room successfully & participate in a race without any issues. Unfortunately, this didn't last b because after the race & having been returned to the lounge as per normal, i was "disconnected from the lobby server."

ONE RACE!! That's how long it lasted. Since then i've tried joining 3 other lobbies to no avail. I keep getting disconnected from the lobby server. This is just unacceptable of PSN! SORT IT OUT!!

There's no point anymore... If PSN think i'm going to quit game, reboot my router, test my internet connection from the XMB, then re-sign-in to the PSN, then reload the game (which also takes forever-and-a-day), then reconnect to a lobby server while the networks synchronize; If PSN think i'm prepared to do all of that after every single 1-lap race of Nurburgring Nordshliffe... They're dismally mistaken! I'm done with it. :(

Go to hell PSN... I'm already there!?

Now resigned to playing offline.

I think your connection is the mainproblem here.

I had quite an entraining experience recently online. There was a 16yo kid who thought weed was 🤬 brilliant, and he 'claimed' to be able to beat up 35yo guys. :lol:

All this, of course, kicked off because he was being a ramming little 🤬

'We' also had a run-in with a kid who thought the DLC Car Packs were too expensive, but said shortly after that his dad was the owner of (*insert made up name*) Inc.

You can't win... :P

What were the results of your internet test?

The results were as follows.

Obtain IP Address: Succeeded;
Internet connection: Succeeded;
PlayStation@Network: Succeeded;
UPnP: Available;
NAT Type: Type 2;
Connection Speed (Download): 6.7Mbps;
Connection Speed (Upload): 651.4 kbps;

And my PS3 is also physically connected with the ethernet cable.
Also, i'm still able to use google chrome on my Dell laptop wirelessly with no problem while making these posts. Go Figure!?

I used to have lower download and upload rate, half of both that SunsetSailor have, no UPNP, NAT Type 2, Wired, very rarely I have disconnection or unstable connection issues. Did long races at Driversports organised by a fellow member here : Forgetful - great guy, never once I got disconnected or lag. I also often joined shuffle races hosted from the other side of the world, some lag on other cars, but I never got kicked due to my car's lagging. I have no issues with hosting my own room as well, always set on very high, 16 cars, no mics, non fixed. It might be ISP related problems or slow ping.

@ SunsetSailor : Check your PS3 DNS server address, slow DNS server could cause problems. I used Google DNS, sometimes my own ISP DNS.

No doubt! Last night was brutal. Trying to actually race and some goon in the Tank Car is going backwards and/or parked sideways in the middle of the track (London) while some other mook is chat, chat, chat asinine garbage...grrr. Am I the only one not able to just ignore it? Is it not possible to boot trolls when you assume host status in a room that is not fixed? I know...create your own room is a proposed solution--if you have a couple hours to sit around and wait for enough people to show up and use it. Still fun overall though.

This is in the race for real filtered races...

Curiously the guy in that video calls himself "ANONYMOUSMEMBERPROTECTEDNAME":ill:. Not that guy again lolololol.

Wait so you're telling me he has done this before? Oh no... and OP says "no names." So you might want to change the text...

:snicker:

Don't worry, it's not him. :lol:

MOTORTRENDMitch on GTP, he's Canadian.

And skilla, we're talking about a guy that didn't play nice with Blaze in the ALMS, and made like 3 different GTP accounts and skillfully getting perma-banned on all of them. :P

And look at that player who forced the guy off at 5:20, that was under green flags, yet he didn't return position? I think that breaks OLR rules, does it not?
