And look at that player who forced the guy off at 5:20, that was under green flags, yet he didn't return position? I think that breaks OLR rules, does it not?

Annihilation of a Minolta might breach those rules, possibly.. đź’ˇ

Any who.. Stop crying.. I won't reply again to your garbage spamming threads. If you want to talk, do it through PM. No more Spamming.

Your download is ok... not great.
Your upload is poor and would most likely be causing your problems.

Really... :embarrassed:

When i got broadband i was told that i needed at minimum of 4Mbps download so i got 6. Should be more than enough. You're telling me i'll need to upgrade now??
:ouch:

And they did ask me if i played games online but because i wasn't back then, i said i never do. I just need to be able to stream videos etc.

Thanks for letting me know. It's always the way... what is more than adequate 1 year can be inadequate the next!?

So what download/upload speeds would be sufficient?

I guess i'll have to speak with my ISP about an upgrade. Cheers.

After watching the video, it looks like Skilla causes an accident @ 3:30 that was easily avoidable by braking earlier lol. While Mitch tries to annoy him during cautions and then continues to race dirty under green flag....Video is depressing to me.

This is why I hate cautions too, you spend 30 minutes under caution because a couple drivers don't know how to race in traffic.

What a dirty rotten ***hole!! I get that all the time while racing online...

BUMP! BUMP! BUMP! Edge off track! BUMP! RAM! BUMP! RAM!! BUMP! BUMP! Edge off track! No apology. No yielding position if accidental. DO YOU ****ING MIND!!!

...Bad sportsmanship like that drives me insane!

Don't names go against the AUP too? ie a video publicly naming.

More Infractions? :P

Stupid rule if you ask me. You should be able to help those struggling to find decent drivers by letting them know who to avoid.

If you don't wanna get named & shamed, race cleanly. Simple.

Thanks. At least there's someone who understands where i'm coming from.

I'm not a fan of shuffle races tho. I prefer certain cars for certain tracks, & i like to adjust customizable transmission & the brake controller. The last time i was in a shuffle race with 2 others, they got an Audi & a BMW, while i got a stupid RUT! Hardly fair when they mix drivetrains!? E.g. those copping 4WDs are put at a severe disadvantage to those with FRs.

But anyhow, on the provisor that you're a clean driver, i just sent you a friend request. Cheers.

Cool. :) Accepted, but we may have time issues. I'm in Cape Town, SA.

Looks like it hasn't set in yet so once again, i'll repeat myself when i shouldn't have to.
"ALL OF YOU!"
Even those with the elitist "GTP" tag are part of this problem.
Just because you have said tag means F all because YOU perpetuate said problem.
I've gotten to the point where i quit hosting online and only ran in the RCS league stuff as they are the only group that raced fair and clean with GT's version of full sim settings.
There is another group on here, but they also do this by giving themselves a high and mighty attitude of not racing with others who also do so, like they are somehow superior.
I tried so hard the first year of GT5 to find good, clean racers that run without aids, full damage, tire wear ON, but after 2 years of the garbage that is the GT community as a whole i can say this for everyone who's been wanting to and are to nice to do so.
"Your all ***holes!"
Learn to F'ing drive/race properly you useless breeders/eaters!
Fine me if you want, i no longer care as i haven't even touched this game in weeks now, and it's because of the game itself and the community of go fasters.
You want to race arcade, i'm fine with that.
That's what the race for fun section is for.
Don't jump in race for real and not use full sim settings.
Which wouldn't have been a problem anyway if PD would have implemented this as such.
And naming and shaming should be allowed to help weed out bad driving and promote clean driving, period.
It should even have a registered forum for it where every name is put up.
You don't like it, tough.
All the potential of this game series doesn't mean a thing when the overall community attitude is "you ain't my momma!,I'll drive how i want!"
Thank you for reading and have a nice day! :)

Nice blanket statement there dr_slump.
Ever think it's not about passing the time and maybe it's about competition?
Which is serioulsy lacking if form and quality, which also wouldn't be a problem if the game taught and punished drivers for their underhanded tactics and gave them the "thumbs up" for correct drive/racing?
My post still stands and i still stand by it.
Good job though, all i needed this whole time was just one group of guys to race with.....these whole 2 years wasted.....

Agree'd with Barn. If we actually got respected for cleaner driving then maybe this series would be getting somewhere. It only makes me wonder why they pulled back from the penalty system they were once running. I don't clearly remember where l seen it but there was once a video yellow flagging and red flagging this guys clearly bad driving capabilities. Why not keep a spreadsheet of your dnf % to races ratio? Its not even the crappy driving that erks me. lts the people who do stupid actions and then give a piss poor excuse to further prove thier bad actions necessary. From the useless rage quitters who "dine and dash" the first turn of every race then quit the room, to the ignorant room hosts kicking you out for THEIR incapabilities to handle their own car, to the patch to fix patches from patch 1.10, or the "oh l've been playing too much NFS" bs. Even to the deteriorating room server quality.

However, l find it VERY interesting onto what PD's next move is for their next GT release. Lets just hope SONY and PD can learn from this and improve...

Do you have the same problems if you host a room?

You know, with a propper title, reglementations and kicking of dirty drivers. Yes, it can be a annoying, but it usually works great for me.

Exactly! And the fact that we clean drivers are not allowed to 'disparage' dirty rascals just gives them a license to run riot. They have a sense of entitlement in driving as dirtily as they like simply because PD allows it.

In regards to using 'race for real'... A simple solution would be for the realistic options to be mandatory when a lobby is setup under this category. That way people who want to switch off damage, driver aids, etc, would have to setup their lobbies under the 'race for fun' category. I reckon that would help solve a lot of your frustration in finding a decent room, would it not... Surely that wouldn't be too hard for PD/PSN to implement!?

Makes perfect sense to me. I should work on their problem-solving team!? hahaa xD Yeah right!?

Firstly, I'm so sorry for exploding at you the way i did when you suggested a bad internet connection. My previous statements about my technical issues were in a different thread, so there's no way you would have known. I got the 2 threads i was replying in mixed-up. I felt terrible when i realized. :( Apologies.

With that out of the way, i do have a major problem when i setup my own lobby... No-one ever joins. What do you mean by a proper title?? Maybe that's what it is...

The only worst thing I have to deal with is dirty drivers in a clean race because the room title might say something like "NASCAR clean or drag race clean bs or kik" and I come in and some of the people keep hitting me and the host kick the dirty driver or not.lag,oh lag is really bad in gt5 because if people lag, they would definitely hit you as hard as a dirty driver

Agreed. That's what makes it so frustrating. Most of the rooms that claim to be clean are actually not clean at all. And the hosts do nothing about it. And if you continue to complain, the may even kick you! ...Even if you're the only clean driver there!! It's outrageous what PD/PSN is allowing to take place. And we can't even say jack-s*** about them!

Storytime, kids!
Around 5 months ago, I went online for the first time. I had no idea what I was doing, and I brought an X2011 into a room. I had an FGT for about 5 minutes and I kept getting rammed by some guy with an X2011, so I brought one out myself. I rightfully got rejected from the room shortly thereafter. Not because the host was being shallow and not using common sense, but because I wasn't.:guilty:

I, fortunately, have learned very quickly from my mistake and I try not to do anything relatively stupid.

And I think this has already been mentioned earlier; but every once in a while, someone would join in a room wherever I was, pick a vehicle, tune it a little, and enter the course with it. Then when the race starts, they're just sitting there. I can understand if they had to do something else probably work-related and forgot to exit the track, but when they just sit there just because they like to sit there, I guess it starts to annoy some people.

I guess another quip I have is the "COUNTRY X ONLY" rooms I see in the lobby. For those in the dark; I like racing with people outside North America and the U.K. I've even raced in all-Japanese rooms a couple times. Unfortunately, I never get the opportunity to enter into a room with almost no American, Canadian, or English folk because the room description implies that only, for example, Greek players are allowed in the room. Especially if the main language of said country isn't English. Probably because 1) I'll probably get kicked out of the room if I even try to enter because I'm not from the same country as they are, 2) I would never make a room like this because I really don't care about what country you're from, or 3) the host could have some sort of a personal bias for his home country. That, I can understand because you grew up there...wherever you're from.

These reasons are why I have not been Online for a while. I might start going online again, because 1) I have about 8-10 friends on PSN that are actually pretty good drivers to me, so I can definitely trust them on and off the track and 2) I love to race with other fast, aggressive, clean drivers like myself, even if it's just against 1 or 15 racers.

And I'm with you guys on the rooms that claim to be clean, but really aren't. Especially if at least half of the drivers are maniacal by nature. Seriously, those kinds of rooms are starting to become commonplace.

But I guess we can't ridicule them for driving dirty if the races aren't taken seriously...unless the room is labelled for dirty Motorstorm-like racing. It's how they choose to drive, and it's up to them whether or not they want to change their driving style.

That said, I'd like to stress that there are so many troublemakers out there in the lobbies. The next person/group of people you run into could be one of them.

It is so hard to find or create a decent room nowadays...

:(

EDIT: I use the "GTP_" tag, and I'm not elitist. At all.

Well, I don't know why you quoted that post, because it was an answer to the member "barn one". Perhaps just to show that you mean me.

I checked some of your previous posts about this topic.
Firstly, your internet connection is fast enough. When the PS3 came out I had only a 2mbit connection. To be fair, it was quite a good connection, cause it used the fiberglass network of my ISP (fiberglass cable till 10m to my house and then a coaxialcable). I know it sounds weird, but this ISP offers also cable TV so..... Oh and ping was only 10ms to the next server
Problems only appeared when other devices were connected to the internet. With the PS3 alone, absolutely no issues.

However, when GT5 came out I already had a 5mbit connection and this stayed for more than one year. I couldn't really see a difference though. Now I have 10mbit and I feel no difference at all. It's not your bandwith.
And the other guy who said the upload speed is very low: 1/10 = up/down is normal for assymmetrical connections. And it is enough.

I saw in one of your previous posts that your PS3 is wired. Do you have a firewall in between or does it look like this: modem - cable router - ps3? Or is there anything else in between like dlan adapters or similar?

I think that your router settings may be the issue. I don't know why, but the PS3 seems to have a little comunication problem with routers.

Firstly, have a look at this guide about how to give your PS3 a static IP-adress: http://portforward.com/networking/staticip-ps3-playstation-3.htm
Then go to your router settings, usually with typing in 192.168.1.1 (or maybe with 2 at the end) as adress in your browser (use a PC for this).

Now you have two options, one is port forwarding and the other one is to put the PS3 into a DMZ. You can only do one of them.

  • Put your PS3, and only your PS3, in a DMZ. If you wanna put it into a DMZ take sure that it's really only your PS3 and no other device! The PS3 is a closed system, but PC and co aren't.

  • Use port forwarding for the given IP-adress (of your PS3 of course), and open following ports:
TCP: 80-81, 443, 3074, 5223
UDP: 2005, 3074-3075, 3478-3479, 3658, 5223, 5658

Another guy mentioned before that your DNS servers might be the problem, but that would be strange, since they aren't really needed in ptp networks.

Ahh, but I'm no expert in this and I can only reommend to try it.
Good luck!

Well dr_slump, to be honest, i've literally hosted every concievable race type.
For about a year off and on.
Everything from 350PP to 700+PP, supergt 300/500, muscle cars,LeMan Prototypes, (except nascar as i hate nascar)
When i hosted i booted bad drivers, but of course that ruins my race.
I also did the big no no of longer lap races.
Another problem solver would be in race kick without having to exit race, (STILL waiting on that AND split times).
The fact is, it IS the vast mojority of drivers, period but it's only allowed because the lack of proper online options implemented by PD.
I'm tired of GT5, i fired it up yesterday to do the seasonal stuff i missed and turned it back off, no interest in fighting the crowd or this game to get a "arrive and drive" race/s.
Just look at the crap going on in the GT-Academy and you'll have seen exactly what i and others mean.
No full sim setup, no proper penalties, aids on, tire wear off etc,etc
Of COURSE it's going to breed a bunch of go fasters.
I'll just be killing time now until another Project releases as i have little hope in PD being able to build a proper sim style racer.
The kind of driving/racing depicted in here is why alot of guys/girls turn towards PC sims for proper sim racing is because it's not taught in GT5 and the bad drivers are not penalized/condemned for their lack of.

Don't lose hope, there are still good community here that race like you do, clean, fair and full of respect. Try here :
http://www.gtdata.net/events.php

I have some races with them - Driversports, the host was Forgetful, he is a member here, they are all bunch of great drivers. I can vouch for them, or you can add me, sometimes I have a race with some other members here who are serious, clean, fair, and most of all for good ol' fun. I can also suggest other members here that I know are clean good drivers, PM me if you want to know.

Thanks so much for helping me to understand the technical side of things. My FOXTEL/PayTV goes through an adapter of some kind, but my ps3 is connected directly to the router, as is my VOIP phone. My Dell laptop is wireless. The ps3 is the only device having difficulties getting disconnected from lobby servers & the like.

Anyhow, the reason i replied to that post was because you implied you have no problems in setting up your own lobby providing you have this, this, & this, etc. After my apology, i then asked you what you mean by that because every time i create my own room, nobody joins.

So i'm asking you, how do you attract people (and for that matter, the RIGHT people) to join your room so easily??

I usually show my main expectations in the title. You don't really have to be creative, be factual.

If I only wanna drive on one track then I write that. If I only wanna drive cars in the 550pp range then I write that too. Or if maybe you want to mention that race cars aren't allowed, etc.
I then often add basic things like "clean or kick", "clean and fair", "no bs", "pro/clean" (the pro thing probably won't attract that many people) and so on. I think you see the direction.
Example: NĂĽrburgring 500-550pp fair & clean (just an example)
Just avoid random titles like "fun, fun, fun" or "race and chill".

But much more important is how you set up your room. I think it's self-explanatory that allowing all aids, not seting-up of reglementations, boost on, etc. is not going to work.
I personally would never allow active steering nor srf. I usually only allow abs. Physic real, boost off, draft weak, pp or power/weight limit (use round numbers or people start thinking you wanna use it to your advantage  )

The number of laps is also quite important, I often set it so that the race is 10-15min long.
And very important: Be determined as host! Don't even let the problems come up.

But I must also agree with you, it's not always easy to find decent people. Especially for you as australian, because I suppose the ping bar won't look that attractive for us europeans.

I must clearly say that if you want very competitive and clean races on a high level, then you almost have to join racing leages or organisated events. We have lots of them here on GTP and many of them don't require that you participate in every single event. Check this: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=89
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=77
Oh and don't be too shy to send FR if you meet a good/clean driver, you can't lose anything.

If you need tips for drift and/or drag rooms, then I could definitely help. It's much easier there.

Friends, friends, friends.
I host a room every night. I send invitations out to my friends that are playing GT5. Once a few join the room quickly begins to fill up. If you maintain a large list of clean, fun racing friends chances are some will be playing when you want to start a room.
My friends also help me keep the room clean, I cant see everything that goes on in the field, but chances are if there is a crasher one of them will see and let me know.

I donÂ’t think how you set up a room has much to do with the quality of drivers or how fun it is.
I run with boost off and draft weak, but other than that our rooms couldnÂ’t be more different. I give the drivers total freedom to use whatever aids they like, most of them just slow you down anyway. I donÂ’t use penalties or damage, again friends help keep people honest.
My room is for lower powered street cars but I allow racing softs. In fact that is the reason I started hosting. I paid 36,000cr for those tires dammit and IÂ’m gonna use them.

Just to let people know, stuff like this is why you have such a high amount of bad rooms. You don't let people use their preferred driving setup. I'm not gonna go any more in depth of it, but I will say just this. Make your view the same as others, and see how you like it.

Today I had the worst experience In a shuffle room. Once the original host left all hell broke loose. People were targeting the people in first and slamming into them. Nobody in that room knew how to use the brakes. That is the last time I join a shuffle room.

When I host rooms, usually I kick everyone that (a) doesn't have the GTP tag, or (b) isn't on my friend roster.

I do have TCS enabled most of the time, some of the cars just CANNOT drive without it. No other driving aids except ABS, one of my drift cars had that turned off for the longest time and I had no idea why it would lock up when braking from any spot...

There are some good people that race without the GTP tag on psn. Pretty bad to kick someone just because of their gamertag. You should give everybody a chance before they get the boot.

Just to let people know, stuff like this is why you have such a high amount of bad rooms. You don't let people use their preferred driving setup. I'm not gonna go any more in depth of it, but I will say just this. Make your view the same as others, and see how you like it.

EXCUSE ME??
You're saying that clean drivers not allowing people who can't drive properly to race in their room actually makes this problem worse...
Sorry, that makes no sense!!

...Like if you can't drive in a clean/pro room with aids, you'll create/join a room where everyone plays dirty... And if you're 1 of those rascals, then you wouldn't be welcome in a clean/pro room anyway.

If you don't play dirty, again, your statement makes no sense. I don't know, maybe you didn't explain yourself properly...
