Would you Buy a PS3 JUST for Gran Turismo 6?

I think if someone was going to buy a PS3 just for a single game (not just GT5) then they would have done so a long time ago. When PS4 is just around the corner, why bother?

The thing is gta 5 is coming on ps3 as well as gt6., and there will be other games as well, so there is still good reason to buy a ps3

The thread is talking about buying a PS3 just for a single game, namely GT6. While GT6 is turning out to be a hopefully decent game, if I didn't already have a PS3 then I wouldn't see myself buying a PS3 just for the single game. There are other good games coming out for the PS3 but in that case it would be purchasing a PS3 console for multiple games.

Whoops i sent it twice

I know what the thread is about, I was saying to the other person that the ps3 isn't completely obsolete yet cos that is what he was saying

Short answer, no. I already have a PS3 and I don't think I'm going to buy GT6. I really hope I see enough of an improvement to change my mind.

Well I already have a PS3 that is in good working order so I do not plan to buy one but if that were not the case then yes I probably would. I did buy a PS2 for GT4 and a PS3 or GT5 so why not.

I voted yes btw as I would buy a PS3 for it if I needed to

Yes. I'm going to buy another one as a package when GT6 drops. I'll get PS4 with a TV above 65" after New Years.

I bought my PS2 so I could play Tourist Trophy and i'd have no hesitation getting a PS3 either for TT2 or GT6 if it does include TT elements. The fact that the machine is near the end of its shelf life isn't a big deal for me.

It just means I get it cheaper. :)

I did for GT5 so I guess I would do it for GT6 if I didn't have one.

Now with the experience, not a chance, though it's nice not having to pay for Live.

I bought one just for GT5 and is do the same thing for the new title. I'm a sim racing fan. I have the wheel and all. Why not have the most current titles available.

I don't know in all honesty,

I have 2 PS3 systems, I bought the second one when I discovered the 60gb one was to be the only one of its sort, if they both died prior to its release I'd be seriously pissed! but I'd have to know how far away the PS4 is and be looking at one dirt cheap to consider replacing it,

If I had to buy a current gen console this late in their life cycles, I would get a XB360 because the equivalent game is just better. XB360 just for FM4 > PS3 just for GT5 AND GT6.

Now of course, buying one of these right now would be absurd because the next gen consoles are just around the corner and many big current gen multiplat titles are coming to the next gen anyway, some will be on PC as well so there's no point in wasting money on a current gen console. Even if you don't have one right now and you can't afford a PS4/XBONE either, the best you can do is wait.

I bought PS1 for GT
Bought PS2 for GT3
Bought PS3 for GT5 actually i bought it the minute i saw GTHD in the Sony Store.

NO, I have one and i won't be buying GT6. I bought my fat PS3 for GT5P & GT5. bought a xbox in January for Forza only and will be getting the xbox one also for Forza mainly

You can always get a used one for cheap. I think that would be a good way to go if you don't want to invest a lot in an old system.

Well I only really use one and that is the one in my room. I am going to 'upgrade' to the new slimmer model as it should run cooler and be more energy efficient. Shouldn't cost much to upgrade. I think it is likely before GT6 comes out, the new revision should be out.

It's cheaper but not necessarily better. The disk loading system is not as nice to use, and people are saying it's louder than the slim. If yours is working fine now it's a waste of money IMO.

If I can get one for $125 or less, then yeah. The PS4 will be out before Black Friday, so that should bring some good PS3 deals.

I recently bought a Super Slim due to my 1st gen YLOD'ing on me.
With no disc loaded it's definitely quiter, but the build quality and loading mechanism is inferior. Disc spinning is easily audible and spin-ups get rather noisy. That's why I keep it unloaded when watching Netflix.

Absolutely. GT6 probably will be the best game on PS3. Especailly if you like racing games.

Also there are lots of great games this year too like God of war, The last of us, Beyond 2 souls to name a few. Many more from past year. Multiplat game like GTA V is also one of the most popular games.

Having said that it is a shame that PS4 is not backward compatible :grumpy:

Just for GT6? Absolutely not. For the variety of other exclusive games (LBP series, Uncharted, Last Of Us, MGS4 [no longer exclusive], Infamous), in addition to GT? Yep.

Most of the other AAA titles will have a PC release as well, though. And, if you've got a decent rig, you'll get a far better gaming experience on it than a console. It's just annoying that PD didn't go ahead with their PC port of the original Gran Turismo or we'd likely still have the option of a PC version these days. As it stands, you've no choice. If you want to enjoy GT, then you have to invest in a PlayStation.
