I'm one of those that like Tenacious D want the whole experience.

Damage, night and day cycle, weather, customization, pit stops, lot of cars, endurance...

But if damage isn't included then I'll buy the game anyway, because of the reasons stated above. GT5P is the best car game/sim for console. It's the "sim" that comes closest to all the other "real" sims on PC (Yes, I've tested Forza 2 and FC), besides Race Pro on the 360.

Did you see your own contradiction? You say you don't buy labels, yet you "know it is going to be a great game"....and it hasn't even been released.

Do I need it to be released to know it is going to be great? No. I already took a look at Prologue, and to be honest, I consider it a great game, for a "prologue" that is. With that said, if I can, I will buy it because I know the minimum quality it will have, and I'm pretty fond of it = great game to me.

Besides: you keep complaining of the game apparent future lack of damage, yet it hasn't been released yet. Look who contradicts himself :dunce:

Prologue is NOT GT5. At minimum GT5 will be the exact same thing as Prologue, because no one knows what else is gonna make it in the final cut and how good those additions will be. But you've already made up your mind that it's gonna be great, even when no-one has a final copy of the game. Again, GT5 is NOT Prologue.

Wooosh! Now where did I say GT5 is not gonna have damage?

I'll assume English is not your first language since you're from Argentina. Look at the OP's question:

Would you buy GT5 if it was released without damage?

Keyword: IF

That's the license to set up a hypothetical circumstance where KY backs out from his promise and doesn't deliver damage modeling as he said he would, and react accordingly.

Are you seriously trying to crack my nerve, brother? Did you took a good look at what you just read? About the many things we have heard already? I'm sorry, but the game being exactly, and I mean exactly, because you say "the exact same thing as Prologue", it's something utterly stupid to think.

Wooosh! Now where did I say GT5 is not gonna have damage?

You are right about that, though. My mind must have been during one of its vacations.

One final thing to note: Am I the only one who feels stupid for arguing with someone I can't see? Or you feel stupid too? We should end this :indiff:

This poll makes me laugh, if them 9% or whatever wont buy gt5 if it doesnt have damage then why the hell did they join gtp, we are all clearly fans of the series to some extent otherwise we wouldn't be here speculating all these things so i don't know why anyone would refuse to buy the game. My a** they wont, otherwise they have nothing better to do then speculate on forums about a game they aren't greatly interested in.

Maybe because we've waited for too long for this feature not to show up at this point?

(Been a GTP member since 2003....Welcome to the forums.)

Being a fan doesn't preclude criticizing the franchise when it goes wrong. Plenty of games/movies have started on the right foot and fell flat on the sequels. I don't have a contract with PD to buy all their games.

And no one said they weren't gonna buy GT5 (see my previous post for explanation)...

I think a fair few people are of the opinion that if they make enough noise PD will hear them and act, but even if they didn't get what they want they would end up buying the game anyway. So I think a good portion of those (5 are infact empty threats.

With that said, I can fully understand where Supernumber is coming from, in my situation, given how much I have played and enjoyed GT5P, GT5 would have to be a real turd for me not to buy it, even then, I will be buying it on the first day of release so I wont know whether its going to be any good or not.

People who are more on the fence about the series may struggle to understand my viewpoint, but I have been with the series a long time, I know what to expect and not to expect from GT5, even now before we have any concrete info I am fairly certain that GT5 will be worth the money I spend on it, and that I will be investing many hours of gameplay into it.

The poll should really say stuff like if GT5 does not have damage will you a) consider other "sim" based console games b) buy a 360 and Forza 3 c) be very very very upset but still get GT5 because you know besides damage it will be awesome. d) not be upset and still get GT5 e) I have so much money and love for sim racing I intend to buy every single sim game for every single console because I love sim games.

Does it really make a difference? Think for one second, please. All you are doing is speculating. KY could have said "GT5 will have damage. Definitely". Then release it without it. It doesn't matter what they say. It matters what does the game come out with. They can lie. They shall lie if they need to. You say you and others have waited for too long for the feature not to show up at this point. If it showed up, would you be playing the game right now? No. You would continue waiting until the game's release. It doesn't make a difference, only that you will know the feature is there, and therefore, will likely buy it. Or, KY could have busted you into buying a game without damage.

Being a fan doesn't preclude criticizing the franchise when it goes wrong.

A wise man by the nickname of mafia_boy once said that, if it's not broken, don't fix it. GT didn't go wrong at any time. It would go wrong if it had eliminated a gameplay characteristic of it. GT5 would go wrong if it came out without Photomode. It won't go wrong if it comes out without damage, because it didn't had it before.

And no one said they weren't gonna buy GT5 (see my previous post for explanation)...

Basically, the poll is very simple. Would you buy it if doesn't come out with damage? Many said yes. It means that they won't buy it. If you come up with something like "oh, i think that i will buy it if it doesn't come out with damage but it has new gameplay characteristics" crap. It's simple. Imagine the game full, perfect. Damage or not damage. What's it gonna be?

Damage is no concern to me.Ive played all previous releases and will continue buy then till I die.
I play Forza 2 and alot of guys dont play with damage anyway due to the idiots that can be in your room. The other thing though the host can kick any player they want if they're not behaving in a proper racing manner.

The Damage in Forza you have three types:Ghost(so no running into each other at all.),Cosemtic(where only your downforce is really hindered.),then full on fatal(Where you can totally write the car off.).

While not strictly a gameplay feature, I do think Kaz dropped a ball in GT4 by leaving out Racing Modification. Maybe it was a matter of just having most of the race cars available at the start and winnable, and with more skins appearing through the course of beating races, along with the wealth of tuners. That was cool, but I was really looking forward to race modding a Mustang or Sileighty. Other than this, spot on post. 👍

GT3 also didnt have racing mods.

I missed them in both games. lol

Yeah, and also racing mods in the game would give one great championship to return...

THE SUPER TOURING TROPHY!

If you remember, it was a set of races with race modded (but I don't believe modded otherwise) sedans.

And of course, they were mainly based around touring cars. Then again, it would offer less chance FOR touring cars themselves...so if race mods appear, I wouldn't expect to be seeing any touring cars. And for someone like you, that would be TERRIBLE (Germany has a great championship for tourers, after all).

Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft FTW 👍 (I know nothing about it, only the cars present in GT4, which are actually cool, unlike JGTC cars :yuck:).

Racing modification is something that I really don't miss. I mean, some cars had good paint schemes. Others, however, simply sucked. :grumpy:

@C-ZETA: Everyone says that except the guys promoting it.
The brits got the BTCC, that one owns (WTCC is also cool but has some serious flaws in its rules).

EDIT: LOL its "Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters" since a couple of years which sounds so stupid.
And yes, the OLD DTM owns, Mercedes 190, Opel Calibra, Alfa 155, BMW M3 E30 etc. but thats gone.

I'd personally have actual Touring Car championships in the next game as well as the Super Touring Trophy back. DTM only just isn't, and never will be, enough.

I'm sorry, I meant that the old DTM stood for "Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft. Which is the one who owned 👍
