1990's Performance SUVsThe Typhoon is the best looking and easily the most iconic of the four so that it is.

1999 Mercedes-Benz ML 55 AMG
Fixed. I assumed the Grand Cherokee was a performance SUV due to the fact that it was an extremely powerful SUV for the time and some people have cited it as a precursor to the SRT8.ML55.
The Grand Cherokee 5.9 is not a performance SUV by any stretch of the imagination.
245hp out of a big V8 wasn't anything impressive, even at that time. The Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade (of the late 90s) used a smaller V8 which made more power, and so did the Expedition/Navigator of that time.Fixed. I completely forgot about that car. Thanks for reminding me.245hp out of a big V8 wasn't anything impressive, even at that time. The Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade (of the late 90s) used a smaller V8 which made more power, and so did the Expedition/Navigator of that time.
A better performance SUV that you could've added in your "would you rather" would be the 1999 Shelby Durango SP360, which used the same 5.9L as the Jeep but made 360hp.

What's the story on that Mustang's spoiler? Never cared much for Mustangs--or spoilers for that me--but I'm intrigued.
If you disregard the Oldsmobile F-85 Jetfire from some 20 years earlier, right?Early days of forced induction for American made cars.
Compare it to what, since "would you rather?" is the title of this thread......?If you disregard the Oldsmobile F-85 Jetfire from some 20 years earlier, right?
Appreciate the Mustang info, though.
Oldsmobiles that broke new ground for production automobiles.
So there.
Who said vehicles one prefers need to be comparable? I seem to recall an earlier proffer pitted a Jetta against an M3--the only similarities I'm aware of are country of origin and number of wheels.Breaking new ground for production automobiles does not mean they are comparable.

Hope this helps.
It was a 325i, not an M3. Also, it was a GLI, not just a run-of-the-mill Jetta. Those two cars are similar in size, performance, value now, etc. Stop fabricating my comparison in an attempt to prove a point.Who said vehicles one prefers need to be comparable?
