It is kinda fun in a real pick up and play kind of way. Also its absurdly easy to 100% the achievement list.

I'm in my fourth career season, won the JWRC first time of asking and the WRC-2 title with Skoda but only managed runner up in my first WRC season with Hyubdai, switched to M-Sport for my second crack at WRC.

Its is amazing how easy it is. Just starting my first WRC season, however every one of the WRC2 events I took part in I won. Nothing odd about that, until I add that I won outright (as in easily at the top of the times for that event overall), so technically I won the WRC Championship in a WRC 2 car!

It is quite annoying in that regard. It could be done with JWRC cars on the tarmac events as well. Looking forward to Rally Evo, seems like it will be an actual challenge.

I only clicked on this thread out of random curiosity since I picked up a copy of CMR3 for PS2 recently...I had no clue this was made available in North America, or even that there's an XB360 version! I had dismissed this series as EU-only a long time ago.

Would anyone happen to be able to tell me if the XB360 version is worth it? I see it's not a Milestone game anymore; based on my experience with RIDE, that's a good thing.

It's not a good thing. Avoid it and get SLRE.

If I get a PS4 or XBone, I'll probably collect SLRE, Dirt Rally, and this game all together, unless I end up trying this one on XB360. My motto is you can never have too many rally games, because the stages are what it's all about and no rally game ever has enough of them.

Anyway, thanks @Scaff. Sounds like a typical rally game. I was able to find XB360 gameplay on YouTube; maybe not as polished as Dirt 3, but the stages certainly look more interesting to drive and it doesn't appear to be a forgotten stepchild like the XB360 version of Forza Horizon 2.

No problem.

It been a good one to keep me occupied until SLRE arrives tomorrow (also have Dirt Rally on order, as you say you can't have enough) and the stages have a good length to them, are interesting enough with night stages and some basic weather as well.

The only downsides for me are (as the arcade bias of the title I don't class as a downside - it is what it is) the very slow AI and the fact that the cars are limited to J-WRC, WRC 2 and WRC. However SLRE and Dirt will fix both of those.

Not to be harsh, but why did they release a broken demo on PS4.

I was looking forward to it (as no demo for Loeb has been released for NA region), then the game bugged, some textures look weird, gameplay is fine but the sound is all glitched up (all white noise audio after adjusting the sound settings, which are not saved after you change them, each time you start a new course you need to change the sound settings), co pilot also stops working altogether in the middle of courses, and the sound design and menu design is mediocre at best.

It baffles me that they expect to compete with Loeb's rally thing (or take advantage of the spotlight for rally games) by releasing a demo that is essentially broken, which is a shame because the driving aspect of it is quite fun.

Odd, I've not had any of those issues with the PS4 demo?

Are we playing the same game then?

(sorry for the voice, it was really early in the morning, and I couldn't replicate the co-pilot voice failing)

The whole point of a demo is to show off decent content to convince me to purchase the game, if even the Demo has bugs then I cannot convince myself of purchasing a full release that will have about the same problems.

Very odd.

I don't recall the demo doing that at all, and certainly I've not come across any of that in the full game.

The co-pilot will fall silent if you have too many collisions with objects - he has basically been knocked out; all you will hear after then is the occasional static crackle. At least, that's how it is in the full game.

Yeah, if the car electronics get damaged too much then then you can't hear the co-driver any more. On the damage HUD icon the electronics is that little bit at the centre console of the car. This game is really heavily affected by damage. It's really important to try not to crash as if you do it will really adversely affects your cars performance. And if you do it on the first stage of a three stage day it's a real problem as you have to cope with it for two further complete stages and then chances are you won't have enough time to repair all damage at service. Stop crashing ;)

The thing that stopped me crashing was having the co-driver randomly shouting 'Aaargh...' right before the electrics died, which I found very, very disconcerting and annoying

Thanks @PzR Slim I didn't think about the electronics aspect (I've been running the game mostly HUD free, so never saw that.)

It's actually a pretty cool thing to happen that I can't remember too many games implementing in the past. It does't happen so much now but I can remember watching rallying when I was younger and the communication between driver and co-driver would quite often be a problem resulting in co drivers wildly gesticulating with their arms to try and help the driver out!

Yeah, but is hard to tell given that all sounds in the game are essentially bugged (even co-pilot's voice).

Is a cool design decision, if the game worked properly.

I'm on PC and have not experienced your particular issues so can't really comment. Is it worth deleting and then downloading the demo again just in case some sounds files got messed up?

Already did, that recording corresponds to the second time I downloaded the demo, could be just a ****** PS4 port because of how the system struggles to cope with the game.

Damn that's a shame because it's actually a pretty fun game. Not too serious but some pretty cool elements as has already been discussed. You can really throw the cars around and whilst it's not a particularly realistic handling model it's one of those simcade games that really capture the essence of what they are trying to portray. It makes you feel like a rally God at times and for me that is a whole lot of fun.

Played the demo for the first time tonight, and I didn't know the sound was glitches, played the same stage a few times and then wondered why I never heard any co-pilot, so I went to the top toons menu and adjusted some volumes and the game came alive! I have to say, this game is pretty damn sweet. The echo of the engine sounds through the environment is epic.

I might pick this one up to add to the collection.

Now that Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo is out I doubt you'd find anyone who would recommend buying WRC5 over it.....

How do you survive day 1 of the german rally and win in a WRC-2 car? I always retire from that rally but just thought I was unlucky. Then I really tried to make it through the 3 stages and not lose to much time but I can't do it. Every time there is a bump in the road the suspension gets a little damage and on the last stage all 4 dampers are blinkning red and the car is impossible to drive. If I slow down I lose to much time and can't win the rally. I have played around with setups and making the suspension ride higher helps a bit but not much. In WRC and J-WRC cars I do not have this problem only WRC-2.

Edit. Max ride height in the front solved this for me.

If anyone is interested, there is a ESL event going right now on WRC 5 on Twitch.

Saw the demo for this on PS Store and decided to give it a try. Drove the Hyundai at the Australian stage and quite like it. Really fun game, might actually get the full game at some point.
