I think it would be awesome if they had the X-Games rally track in the games. Of course point to point is neccesary, but having the X-Games track would add a lot to the game.
50 foot jump, in and out of the stadium, side by side finishes...

In my opinion colin mcrae rally is a arcade rally series wich recuire almost no braking. I also still play RBR once in a while but only on ps2, and even the console version is among the best out there. Petter and Henning Solberg play this sim to and they say its top notch, they are pretty good at it too.

Sorry to be little OT, but wonder if anyone have heard more of Petter Solberg rally game? He said he is going to make it more realistic then RBR, guess they cancled it when Petter Solberg lost his job in Subaru..

I'd agree if you were talking about DiRT, but CMR is definitely not an arcade game. I admit it's a bit unrealistic by today's standards, but you're exaggerating things when you say it requires "almost no braking."

The possibility to buy a Peugeot 205 and prepare it for rally and get a rally look with a livery editor. It would be great.

I really hope that something like that turns out to be the case, that really would be amazing!
Especially if the regulations allow you to enter some 'odd' cars into it as well

The most important thing to me is that a) its not raced on circuits (the super special stages which plague modern rallying are bad enough!)
b) has full pace notes
c) only has one car on the track

If it could be something like RBR I will be very happy, wish I could play that game on my ps3 (but sadly mine is one of the more recent systems after they cut out the backward compatibility)

I have CMR3 & 4 and tried CMR3 a few months ago.. there was so much grip and turns I thought I have to brake I could take with just little lift of throttle.. felt totaly unrealistic to me. Even the original WRC series feel more sim like then CMR. Thats just my opinion.

I have big hope for rally part of gt5 and if they get it right I will probaly play it more then the racing part of gt5

I hope they put point to point official wrc rallys but i dont think they did it (for what i saw in e3 trailer)

Im getting Dirt 2 for sure and thats where Ill probably get my rally enjoyment... I really do hope they use the WRC license well, but with all the other parts of GT i REALLY doubt it, they have got to think about SuperGT, LMP, GT, Touring Cars, NASCAR and all the stock cars... so I doubt they are going to spend as much time as Codemasters are going to on Rallying.

Unless another dev helps them out.

This being Kaz and PD, I doubt they would give anyone else control over GT5. That said, I wouldn't be worried. The fact that Sony went out of it's way to grab the WRC license means that rallying has been given the attention it deserves.

I guess I was the only one that liked Rally in GT4...
No, I thoroughly enjoyed rally racing in all the GTs, especially GT4. I get the feeling that this is another one of those cases where some people assume things will never change in Gran Turismo 5, in spite of what happened in Prologue. ;)

PD should have left WRC to Codemasters... there is going to be nothing about WRC but the cars... driven round race trackss.... :( how sad...

As I said in another thread, I believe damage to be only in rally on the final version, where you would be racing against the clock and only one car has damage/is on track. WRC logo kind of implies that. Rally racing.

How do you know that? I highly doubt PD will bring WRC without having point to point races.

Because PD is in now way going to have 12 rallyes with multiple stages, dirt, proper damage, good sounds with co-drivers, long stages where you can go off track.. and so many more features..

Tyres bursting, over heating engines, steering problems and so on..

By all means I hope I am wrong, but iI expect nothing more than GT4, maybe 2 new tracks.

We never had news about the WRC & Nascar section Balang_479 so all of us here can't comment on a part of the game that isn't finished yet.

How many different events could you go into in GT3 a lot from what i remember so that could happen here for WRC, Nascar and the regular GT races.Back on topic.

I love the WRC, but I'll do my best to avoid the abomination that is the newest generation Impreza =[

Other than that, I love it.

You're way off the ball...

Codemasters has never EVER held the WRC license, but besides, their new games (DiRT and DiRT 2) are nothing to do with pure rally any more anyway; they're the last people I would trust with a WRC license ;)

Colin Mcrae Rally

Colin Mcrae Rally

*sighs*

Repeat after me: They never had the WRC license!

The Colin McRae Rally games were all unofficial...

They were good games, the two new games are not (purely from a rallying perspective), they're going their own annoying direction and we can't stop them, believe me, a lot of us over at the Codemasters forums have tried and failed...

The WRC license has always been within Sony Computer Entertainment. I don't know exactly what I wanted to say with that though.

You and me both. I feel like a sailboat in the middle of the Atlantic without a sail or rudder. Drifting aimlessly without my beloved WRC coverage.

;)

This could be another hint to PD, put live WRC events on GTTV!💡

Whilst browsing today, I found an article on the official WRC website that may give an insight about how the WRC may work in GT5.

The article talks about "groundbreaking gaming technology" that will allow players to play for a "virtual world title" during the same time that rallies are being held in real life!

If anyone is interested, the article is at http://www.wrc.com/jsp/index.jsp?lnk=101&id=5820&desc=The World Rally Championship is ready for you

Apparently an extended interview is being posted on their website tomorrow with "Chairman of International Sportsworld Communicators - the global promoter of the WRC - Neil Duncanson".

Sounds exciting!

P.S I assume that the article refers to GT5, as they now have the WRC licences rather than any other game!

Yeah I think WRC and Nascar will be nice surprises to be honest. Im a big Formula 1 fan so ive been following very closely the issueing of the F1 licence to a games company and they are very particular about who they give it to and what must be included.

They dont just give out the licences willy nilly i have a feeling we'll get a fairly good WRC and Nascar experience.
