RedWolfRacerIt takes a long time to make games! I just hope it won't take TOO long with this new technology.
True, but I'd rather wait an extra year for an awesome game then put up with an inferior product in time for a holiday rush.

SONY COMPUTER Entertainment boss Ken Kutaragi has suggested the upcoming Playstation 3 will come equipped with a hard disk. And the hard disk may come with Linux pre-installed.
Kutaragi is miffed that the likes of Nintendo and Microsoft won't call their consoles computers. Nintendo, he complains to Japanese site Impress PC Watch, "keeps telling the world their consoles are 'toys'," while Microsoft keeps calling the Xbox a "game machine".
"We're positioning the PS3 as a supercomputer", he says, "But people won't recognize it as a computer unless we call it a computer, so we're going to run an OS on it. In fact, the Cell can run multiple OSes. In order to run the OSes, we need a hard disk. So in order to declare that the PS3 is a computer, I think we'll have [the hard disk] preinstalled with Linux as a bonus.
Kutaragi said the PS3 will run operating systems as applications. "The kernel will be running on the Cell, and multiple OSes will be running on top of that as applications. Of course, the PS3 can run Linux. If Linux can run, so can Lindows. Other PC Operating Systems can run too, such as Windows and (Mac OS) Tiger, if the publishers want to do so. Maybe a new OS might come out," he adds.
He says that providing hard disk with the PS3 will permit the, um, console, to be used as a computer - for applications beyond gaming. Video editing and photo retouching are examples of applications that could be run on a Linux-powered PS3, he suggests.
It is not yet clear whether a hard disk will ship with the PS3 as standard or whether it will be and optional extra. "There are still some issues if the machine doesn't come with a hard disk," said Kutaragi. "We've added a 2.5-inch HDD bay so that users can add hard disks, such as 80GB and 120GB," he said.
The Xbox 360 is expected to ship with a 20GB hard drive as standard. It is not expected to be running Linux. µ
Still the debate rages!!!

RedWolfRacerOMG, an Xbox running Linux would be a slap in the face to microsoft, wouldn't it?? LOL
ZeroXBox 360 will not have Linux, are you jokeing. It will run on some sort of windows software. Only Playstation has run anything Linux on a game console. Whoever said that is retarded, I'm sorry.

KolyanaKent, you always get me thinking about my bloody bottle of red wine ... stop that!!!
Hey, I've got a question for you guys that stems from a conversation Brad and I were having (my b/f). He's getting more into GT4 since building me the cockpit and is a little more inclined to take an active interest when I get behind the wheel. Well the other day I was throwing something around Citta Di Arria and he wondered if real cars race this track just as fast.
Now firstly, I don't even know if this is a real track or just a real city with a hyperthetical track taken out of it, so I guess the question is a little more generalized; are there any tracks like Citta di Arria (close houses, narrow streets) that are raced in and if so do the cars really tear-ass around like they would a regular track?
kennythebombThose are real streets to the best of my knowledge. In fact, to my observations, all the courses that appear to be in a city are real streets - you could do a search and find people have walked Tokyo R246, Seattle, etc etc.
I'm sure SOMEBODY (not the WRS racer haha) would go through there that fast, but I don't think any professional association would sponsor an event of drivers running through a course like that at breakneck speeds.

vexdI was always under the impression that citta di aria was a ficticious place.... i may be wrong....
I always play with the knobs! A habit I developed from radio controlled racing.villainplSomeone in here (not That Someone ) said that when he uses DS2 he drives with left analog stick. I use DS2 all the time (yeah i cant afford DFP) and since the beginning i use digital button o_O I just cant drive car in GT with that left stick its horrible, do u guys use stick or digital buttons ? (hmm they are analog after all i think ?...) I use left stick only for games lik DMC etc...
TeamLosiRacerMan Chicago is a wierd place!
