why do you want to do that jumpputt?

I want to get the cable off of the floor so my 18 month old daughter doesn't keep tripping over the cable, unpluging it, and ruining 9 perfect laps of a 10 lap race :)

Nevermind, got it all figured out :)

What did u do in the end?

Oh and Koly, can i come round and show you how to hotlap?

I'll bring EXelero with me.....

If you want..... you pay for the airfair yeah?

What did u do in the end?
I found a component video wire that was long enough. That's as far as I've gotten so far though. I have a short component video wire that I need to try to see if it will work with the L, R, Video before I spend the $ on the long one.

Why don't you use an S-video instead? Not longer, necessarily, but a LOT better looking and easier to use since it's got everything bundled into one head (as opposed to one for each audio channel and one video channel). Besides, it offers HD output for both audio and video devices! of course, the downside is having to have an S-video INPUT for your tv or whatever you use. :P

I'm just saying it seems like a lot of trouble to wired a standard A/V cable from one side of the house to the other. :D

EDIT: Oh! And as for component cables, like the Yg/Rb/blah blah, they don't work with standard AV inputs. You'll have to check your manual (yeah right) or play test it. :P Most TVs don't have them, and, in fact, I think the technology is outdated any more outside of computer video cards, some of which have outputs and inputs for component video mostly as a sort of novelty. LOL But feel free to try it out.

Does S-video have audio?

I'm 90% certain that it does! Of course, I could be very wrong. :P Most S-video cables I see don't have those extra audio heads, so I'm pretty sure. Though there some that have an S-video head and standard AV wires, too.

I'll do a quick search and find out via wikipedia and/or google.

EDIT: I was wrong. Sorry! I was trying to help and got carried away. lol

S-video and component video are ways of transmitting video in an analogue or psuedo-analogue signal. Most people would read "analogue" and say "eww..." but that's cause they don't know any better. The only reason digital technology is better, is because it is easier to wrap our heads around whole numbers rather than extremely long digits that are only representations of analogue signals.

Back to the point.
S-video and component video are better because TVs use analogue signals inside of them and so are more suited to a natural analogue input. This way they don't have to decode the digital signals into analogue and then create the display. This gives you a better image but note that resolution is entirely up to your TV and DVD player or whatever your are connecting. In this case it your PS2 and TV would decide your resolution. If you have an HDTV or whatever, you can't use the HD features with a standard A/V cables; make sure you read the packaging on the wires your are getting to be sure. Don't forget to set the resolution of your game to match your TV as well!

I was SURE though, that there was a component/all-inclusive set of wires.... Hmm.

I could use a regular cable (rg6?) but I'm not sure if there is a way to output the ps2 signal onto the cable.?

You know, I'm not sure.... I think it depends on your PS2, if it's PAL or NTSC or whatever, if it's the newer "slim" versions.... I dunno. :dopey:

heres pics of my set up, i only got the desk today, before this i was using the wheel on my lap with a lap mount, now its awsome!

You have a picture of a woman stuck over the top of a picture of a woman.

Why?

I like the graffiti on the tv though.

Nice williams too.

Have you told vtec_guy about that, i bet he cant fit his a$$ in that F1!!

lol, il be telling him soon as he gets his a$$ online :P

i stuck a poster over a poster because, erm, i dont actully know to tell you the truth.

and the graffiti on the Ps2 (behind the F1) is so much better than on the TV :P

wow!

i would play better with a setup like that... :dopey:

you are a lucky guy... just be careful to not  over the girl on the poster...
that might take of one of your hotlaps...

and i´m still trying to get my maxdrive and DFP... 👎 👎

nice setup gt_fan2005 👍

cheers dude, i found my max drive today thank god, lol, not that il need it for MY time

not sure if this is allowed to be in this forum

but because this is my favorite racing series of all of them out there, i wanted to see who else follows this great series

my other racing series i like are F1, ALMS, MotoGP, WRC

haha i dont think this is going to last very long in this forum, but champ cars 👍 though the only race i get to see is the Lexmark Indy 300 on the Gold Coast, though i only watch it for the v8's, the champ car race is very different from what where used to down under

Is that whats in your avatar?

I used to follow the cart series when it was broadcast on terrestrial tv here in the UK years ago, but i dont have digital, or cable, or satellite, so i dont see it anymore....

Was fun.... lots more walls to hit, but too many unser jr's and hart jnr's etc for my liking.

Still, i did watch Juan Pablo Monty come thru the ranx.... that was cool....

And no, i dont think this is allowed in here either.

since i´m from Brazil, i really like champ car... there´s a lot of brazilians like bruno junqueira and others...

but here, formula 1 is almost a religion for those who like races...

i also like the IRL... just think that CART was soo good... :dopey:

too bad they have to split up... 👎

one day, eventually, they will be reunited.... i hope so...

don´t know if we can talk about that here... i think its ok, but i don´t know...

Hey there hot,

It's certainly a very good series, the little that I have seen, b.t.w. does Honda still race in it ? If so I will start watching it more from now on ... much respect for those guys going on normal streets so close to those corners ...

F1 is boring ... sorry, but that's just that.

But for me MotoGP is the best series of all at the moment, except that Rossi is killing everyone again ... and as I am a Honda fan, that just sucks ... I vouch for anybody riding/driving a Honda ... be it cars or bikes or boats or lawnmowers :dopey:

kragbees, honda left for the irl but i cant rememeber when tho...

but guesss what!!! for 2007 im thinking honda is gonna leave the irl and come to Champ Cars...

they've been trying to re-unite the series, but Tony George is an ASS lol :D

im happy to see that there is atleast some champ car fans! i really want to see it become a great series again

I had this fun setup on Sunday. Too bad I had to return the beamer by the end of the day. But it was fun, fun, fun, even though I ended up driving on the Nordschleife all day long instead of improving my WRS time. ;)

Interesting how the spectators are leaning in to get a glimpse of you in your golf....

Everytime i went past, they leaned back out of the way!

Cheeky scrotes....

:grumpy:

IRL IRL IRL

Just kidding...we've been through that debate before.

Any open wheel racing is good racing, and Champ Car is certainly making a comeback. If you had asked me a year ago, I would have told you that the CCWS would be dead within 2 years. Now I think it can thrive.

It helps having bad boy Paul along with F1 rejects DaMatta and Wilson fighting it out. Oh yeah and some guy named Bourdais who can drive anything with four wheels on its limit. He's pretty good. Heard he drives for some movie star too. :dopey:

Also Champ Cars have interesting rules. I watched the Cleveland GP and learned about the red sticky tires vs. the normal white tires. That's an interesting catch. Also the push-to-pass, which has been around for several years, seems to work. If only F1 had something like that...

So, I've concluded that Champ Cars are back. I love all of these city courses and the temporary tracks. That can only help their struggle.

I like touring cars best, so WTCC and DTM it is for me most of the time.

Too bad we don't get any FIA GT, LMES, ALMS, V8 SuperCars and Super GT (JGTC) coverage on TV here. :(

For OWR I like GP2 best, followed by ChampCar and F1.

Folks, I'm looking for a teammate to join me in the JGTC series being run over in the long race series forum.

It's a sizeable commitment (each race is about 1hr) but you get to compete with the best in a GT500 class car (I'm signed up in GT300)

There's only one slot left in the series so if you're interested pm me with your details

EDIT: Sorry, I've joined another team, but there is still one slot left in GT300.

Ok, its official, it has happened: I ordered the DFP wheel today! $107 from buy.com. 👍
I hope i have it in a week, but what i REALLY hope is that I will be a touch faster (hollo1, here I come....-yeah I wish... )and will land these darn podest rankings at last :dopey: .....I hope I wont need too long to get used to the wheel...

Guys [& Gal] ... I just wanted to let you know that in a few weeks time I'm going to start a series honoring the spirit of The American Muscle Car (dubbed The American Muscle Championship).

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=67903

It was something Rob and I conceived some months ago and were going to suggest it as a possible WRS event, but the ideas behind it quickly outgrew a one week race.

There are 12 cars, all American Muscle, all equally matched, and eight tracks capturing the enjoyment of what these cars are all about. I'd love to see some of you in the series and would value your feedback even if you don't race.

~ Nat

Nat, have you checked the compatibility of those cars shown?

I believe some of them are impossibly faster than others?

I may be wrong, and i may be assuming you havent done your homework when you will have, but you asked for an opinion, or comment....

Im a bit busy with the board challenge, but some muscle driving wouldnt be too bad, provided the bugs were worked out.

Some *ARE* faster than others VexD and some are slower ... like gulfs apart ... but I'm hoping to be able to hit this from two angles.

For starters I've got them all within the same ballpark for power-weight ratio with HP$ upgrades. Now I know that this isn't everything, so what I then did was take all of them (modded) onto 3 different tracks (Jump_Ace was invaluable here, because he is able to run consistent times and gave me some good benchmarks).

With these 3 sets of times I can see which are too fast and which are too slow ... although perhaps surprisingly the power-weight ratio thing has brought most of the field (all bar maybe 4) into the same sort of vicinity.

The ones that are two fast (2 of them) will probably get less for HP upgrades and those that are too slow (2-3 of them) may get a little more.

On top of this, I'm handing out varying amounts of non-HP upgrade money, which I hope will bring the gaps even closer.

I share your concerns, but this is why I've spent the last month or so buying every car, figuring out the HP gained from every upgrade, and then taking them all to the track. I really think that while there will be some differences, I can get all the cars to be competitive and on a fairly even playing field.

*fingers crossed*
