Well, I FINALLY got my new DF Pro, and am getting reacquainted with GT4. Which you have to do if you've been away from it for months like I have, sigh. :indiff:

But it's been great relearning how the game behaves when I'm behind the wheel. I have a new "driving station" made from an unused keyboard stand and a piece of shelving, and it's terrific! I'm hoping to rejoin the WRS this weekend.

welcome to the world of high class racing Tenacious D!!!

hope you enjoy your stay with us and that its not a short one!!!!

Do any of you DFP'ers use 200degree mode?

Didn't think so, just thought I'd ask. A very fast driver that I know swears by it :indiff:

Spotted this statement in one of the wikipedia's

"Speaking at a recent Japanese event, Polyphony Digital head-honcho Kazunori Yamauchi confirmed that he expects to see real-time damage in the next installment of Vision Gran Turismo (official name) on the PlayStation 3.

Talking with Eurogamer a while back, Yamauchi briefly mentioned that GT4 will be the last Gran Turismo game on the PlayStation 2, and he has now made it fairly clear that a next-gen version of GT5 is on the boards.

Vision Gran Turismo as suggested from the official PS2-engine created video material and also and visible in the Vision Gran Turismo picture featured at Wikipedia, will feature more than the previously limit of 6 cars in one race at one time. Enthusiast have counted around 20 cars in one race at one time. There has been no evidence of fuel control as of yet, as in pit-stops and such. Though the pit-stops now are much more realistic."

Plus this is a screenshot!

Thought I'd tell a little story today.

Was bored today, so I had a crack at mission 34, the only mission I have to complete.

After 2 failed attempts, I just went stupid and stuck it in Manual. 'You should be in manual all the time' I hear you cry. But I race in auto 95% of the time, I only change when I'm doing burnouts, or dragging.

Well, my best time with auto I got within 10 seconds of it. Boy was I in for a shock, on my first try in manual, I was clearly faster then I have ever been with auto. I passed the 5th placed car at the end of Kesselchen, where in auto I usually pass it into the Karussell.

Anyway, long story short, I lost out by 1.2 seconds. Only because I had a mad moment and went completely insane after the long straight because I could see that stupid SL, went straight off into the wall, and got a 5 second penalty...Maybe if I had have cheated and wall ride'ed the Karussell I'd be sitting with a wide grin on my face.

Also, I didn't know manual was soooo much faster, when I've used it in the past I thought, 'At best, I'm matching my times in auto, and I'm lazy', but now maybe I'll have to think it over again....

I tried that race in auto, nearly impossible. I have far far, far less control over cars in auto compared to manual, but maybe thats just me. If you can hold the l2 and r2 buttons to "limit" gear changes then you can use manual.

I agree totally, I switched to manual gears in GT3.

Now i can't get my breaking points right in auto, you can 'back' the cars in whilst using manual( if the game will let you change down fast enough, that is), use more engine braking, and with practice keep the revs in the power-band more.

Manual is definately the way to go!

Manual all the way chap.

Simple as.

I used auto until i got a DFP, then i had to learn to use a wheel, so i thought, what the hell, i'll learn to use the gears too, and im much faster for it.

The only advantage to using auto transmission is that there is less to think about if you're a noob, and you can concentrate on turning round corners and other such difficult tasks as that.

Please bear in mind that this is only my opinion.

Stick with manual, and if you havent yet, then make the change.

It is a driving simulator, and how many race series do you watch where the drivers stick it in "drive" on the grid, and then never touch the Schtick til they've finished?

Gears for me :irked:👍

alright, good thing... i had some things to do at work and now CFM is already creating a thread... didn´t had to wait this week...

An announcement for week 27, we will be using the Polyphony Formula 1 car. So get one on your memory card by hook or by crook. We'll use it in simulation mode so it won't need to be unlocked in arcade mode. Hopefully this won't be too big of a problem for most of you at this point. If you don't have it yet, get B-spec Bob out to the 24H Nurb enduro sometime over the next 2 weeks.:)

Hmmmm!

Which one do i pick???????

Only got 13 of them to choose from.... :sly:

must be the black one, i think!

Giddy up!!! I haven't driven my baby for ages, infact I haven't driven it since I learnt how to drive manual...gear changing in that is gonna be a bee-atch

Speaking of Auto vs Manual though, I finished GT4 as an Auto driver and I found Mission 34 not too hard after a bit of practice but as a manual driver I am heaps faster than I was, that's how I got 80 Gold. But Casio is super fast as an auto driver, if/when he turns to manual he is not only gonna beat me but destroy me :(

There are also going to be several other vehicles in it (not just cars):

...just kidding...

I hope they put Decepticons in too :sly:

so i have the uber save, but i must admit i havent looked that well thro whats there.....

is the polyphony f1 car in it???

Thanks for the tip off CFM.

What's a good car for winning the 24hr?

Any LM or JGTC will do, just put medium or hard slicks on it and give Bob the job!

Tell you what, the scariest, fastest, most mind boggling drive i have ever witnessed was a poly round deep forest in GT3.
The tunnels in the forest section were amazing!

Performed surgery on my DFP pedals today to fix the problem of jumpy accerleration and 98 - 99% gas. Even though pedal was flat gas wasnt :indiff:. and it was very jumpy :indiff:.

Anyway i did something very easy and simple, and its all good now!, back to being smooth and 100% when gas pedal is flat.
Here is what i did Here!

Thanks to Arwin for finding this solution. 👍

It looks like BC6 will be in approx 6mths or so, march ish 2006.

So if anyone would want to race for GTP in that BC, you've got 6mths to "train". With the talent ive seen in WRS, and if you guys do end up choosing GTP to race with, we will have a strong team for sure!. But remeber, if you choose to be part of the BC, you choose to race in a team not just as an individual. A team effort is required to perform well in a BC, helping each other out to get the best from everybody 👍. I would not like a selfish driver who only cares about his/her race on the same team as me, no matter how fast they are. There are 10 races not 1. Also you have to have a desire to do the best you possibly can!

You can bet everyone in GTIRN and in GTWeb helped their fellow racers out a lot to maximise their talent and get the best possible finishes for every race.

Well said Fryz and "hi" to r0gu3.

I've siced Bspec Bob in a Minolta on the 24hr Nurburgring ... if he screws this up, his a$$ is toast :grumpy:

me too, it will be tough to get a spot for gtplanet, but i´m looking foward to! can´t miss another BC

I was on the BC3 team in GT3, but I'm not up to par in GT4. If somehow I finally get a good flow going with the weekly combos, maybe I'll tryout for the BC6 team, but it's really doubtful at this time. Was a good experience in the past though.

ARGHGHHHGHHHHHHHH The power just flickerer out after 14 hrs of running this damned thing!!!! Now I have to start all over again. Sunnvagun. :grumpy:
