Important news:

Due to qualifying times - grid position issues, we will do a test this evening:

- Qualifying starts 10 minutes before the races (with a countdown).
- Once qualifying started, nobody leaves the track (do not go to lounge or pits by exit button)
- If you leave the track, you loose your grid position: obligation to close up at the back of the field at exit of turn 1.

Seemed to work well last night, good racing too. I'm sure it's better for battles to have drivers of a similar speed start together.

Yes it worked good. On the other hand, our Monday test with the fastest drivers at the end of the grid worked very well too. And our Tuesday test, with a rolling start on one line, in "normal" grid order, giving the real start at the beginning of Hunaudières was also succesful

Today in the evening I will update the standings with results from race 2. Sorry for the delay guys :)

Tonight I will upload the replay of the GT500 on our youtube channel 👍

The SuperGT 300 race was the most fun I've ever had in an online race. 👍 I battled with sientex from lap eleven to the end of the race, we were nose to tail and side by side and exhanged places contless times. Our cars were so even that it was usually only a small mistake that gave either of us the chance to pass. I finally got around him on the last lap and just had enough lead that he couldn't draft pass me before the finish line. I tried to stay with turbogeit, but that RX7 was much faster on the long straight, I could run with him through the turns, but when we hit that straight he was gone. I'm not sure why the Celica was that slow on that long straight, I tested the night before and could consistantly turn laps 1sec faster in the RX7 than in the Celica, but on a track like Suzuka without the extra long straight, they both turned matching times.

I completely bombed in the GT 500 race, not sure exactly why. I really don't like that track and have to force myself to even practice on it. Maybe it's something to do with how my car was setup, or I'm just plain bad on that track. I was amazed at how well some of you guys did up front in this race, especially Atlas, an amazing drive. 👍

Did you lower back downforce in order to have a high topspeed?
In GT330, I took some ballast in order to be able to put in some more poneys.

Yes, I had very little rear downforce on that car, it sticks so well that I never have a problem with the rear getting loose. I really think the RX7 and some of the others are just faster on the straights, it seemed that sientex's car was about the same as mine and we both run the Celica. I could only stay up with you when I was in your draft, there was no way I could draft past you, but I could with sientex. It could just be in some gearing settings, I'll do some testing this week.

What you write suggests strongly that on other tracks, it could be completely different. We will have the occasion to verify that on Laguna Seca next week, where there is no long straight and where a car that turns better could be advantaged. Sounds interesting...

Race 2 results and standings updated on the main thread page. The GT-500 movie will come tomorrow :)

GT500 Indy Road Course videos from our Youtube channel!!! :)

Great fights guys!!

:cheers:

Great replays!

As concerned to me, it was the best battle I ever had. Watched it again this weekend: incredible, how we struggled during 40 minutes, Cobrius and I, without there ever being a gap of more than 2 seconds between us.

@gippone, joao71.

Someone asked on the inside space how you can create youtube videos out of replays.
Might be a good idea, if you have time, to put a little "turorial" in the club space.

I'd be interested in your method of creating youtube videos also. I'm assuming you are using a video capture card.

If anyone is interested in an alternate method, I'm working on making one using a stand-alone DVD recorder. I can get a great replay on DVD that will play on any player or PC, but have some work to do on converting it to a format for uploading on youtube. Once I get that worked out to my satisfaction I can put a tutorial for that method in the club space if anyone is interested.

@boshuter
I'll put together a video tutorial in the beginning of July. I really can't do it now because of my Master Degree thesis. (Yeah, I'll be a master Jedi ;) ).

Sorry about the late notice but i'm not going to be able to make either race this week. Sucks because I was looking forward to 'La Sarthe'

I'll be back for both races next week!

I also won't make it to the race. I'll have to work on my project but I'll join as spectator so I can record the replay at least ;).

are you going to participate tonight? Or only the 23rd of June?

I will, as said before, be in GT500. I will race on the 23rd, but couldn't make it this last race. Also, for the 2nd season (if you have one), I will race most of the races. But due to my back-and-forth schedule, I can't make every one.

Did not have the impression these last days that voice chat increases the lag. So, mics will be on again.

Lounge open.

Bad news, something came up that I have to do and I'm going to miss the GT300 race. I'm going to try to make it to the GT500 though. Sorry for short notice. :(
