That's one fine looking car. Looks like a muscle version of one of my favourite cars the Ferrari 275 GTB/4.

-> I just saw this cute little thing last Saturday:

Ford Fiesta [Mk.6] Sedan

^ The car that I saw had Mexican plates and obviously this car was primarily marketed exclusively at Central and South America, even it was designed and engineered in Euroland. A rare sight in Las Vegas indeed! :)

Wow, never seen one of those before, I kinda like it.

Isn't that somewhat of an oxymoron, if you're considering the saloon-style boot?

That's what i'm saying, why would you want a 'boot' on such a small car. Isn't the flexibility of a proper hatchback one of the big selling points?

Yeah, the Fabia's had me perplexed for a while, I've only just got over the idea of a Focus saloon.

Another issue that causes me sleepless nights and cold sweats is the precise advantage of a saloon over a hatchback. I see that the boot intrudes less into passanger space, but the very nature of the saloon's boot impedes the space to get into it, if that makes sense to anyone other than me. Basically I mean the hatchback's boot opens wider giving you a much lager loading space. So more practicality in loading things, but less physical room to put them in. I'm going to stop typing things now, because I'm starting to ramble incoherently.

On the subject of estates, get this! Austrian S500 estate conversion. Never seen this before but I sure as heck want one... base mine on a S65 AMG please with everything in black!

And something else I never knew existed. The coachbuilt MGB Berlinette Coune (named after coachbuilder Jaques Coune). I've never been a fan of the older MG's, but I really like how this car looks.

The overall impression is of a 'poor-man's' Aston DB5.

And I don't know what this is (I just came across the pic), but the back reminds me somewhat of the Alfa 8C

looks like some sort of Lancia, maybe an Aurelia? the image has Giulietta in the name but I don't think it's an alfa

^ The Saab-Lancia 600 reminds me of a wimpy version of a Delta Integrale. Just look at the shape of it, it definitely resembles the Delta:

-> And the Saab EV1's rear reminds me it this car:

No more than a re-badged Delta actually. They only had the 1.5 version, never did a Integrale version.

Sweet looking car. But how'd you see the plate when the lights are up?

Looks like a Lamborghini concept, got any info?

I really can't see the point of a booted hatchback.

The second- and third-world markets go nuts for them because saloons are seen as prestigious across most of the world (in fact, Europe is really the only place that goes mad for hatches). People can't afford BMWs and Mercedes, but they can afford Fiestas and the like with boots grafted on. Even though they look hopeless they're still more appealing to markets like Brazil. For example, there you can get a Polo sedan still:

We got one in the UK for a while but it proved pretty unpopular. Unsurprisingly I don't see too many Fabia saloons either, but they don't actually look too bad. Ford do a Fiesta saloon in South Africa called the Ikon.

Saab-Lancia 600

Could have been worse, they could have called it the Laabia :sly: (To be fair, there have been cars with worse names than even that...)

On the subject of unusual cars from markets like Brazil or Mexico, how about...

The VW Gol?
vw_Gol.jpeg

As far as I'm aware it's roughly between a Golf and a Polo in size but much more basic, designed as cheap family transport. I love the idea actually, VW quality but a bit more rough-and-ready and without the excess flab and excess price that modern VWs have. The VW Brazil site advertises that a new Gol is available too. Called the Pointer in Mexico.

The VW Saveiro?

Basically a Ute version of the Gol. Great successor to the old Caddy!

The Ford Courier (BR)/Bantam (ZA)?

Fiesta Ute. I want one!
