And i'm on the fastest available broadband in the country where i live. (512 kbps)
I find that hard to believe. No ISP in Australia is offering faster than 512kbps internet? These days, 512Kpbs is consider slow for DSL and is usually the cheap entry level deal offered by the ISPs.

By "in the country", i meant out on a farm sort of, not in this country. Also we pay AU$40 a month for this speed so any higher would be too expensive.

Oh god. My speed is slooow. With my old router which has now died, I got an average of 20megabits/sec. Hopefully will be getting a better router tomorrow or so.

Better than mine...

A bit slower than last time, but still pretty good. I'm happy with this. :) I'm about 90km across the Gulf from Adelaide.

Don't worry, I got slower than that for around 5 years. Do you guys have TPG in South Aus? It's in NSW but not sure. Their net speed is pretty reliable and fast for a small amount of money. I got ADSL2+ for $10 than ADSL. Try them.

We're paying $40 p/month for 512k, we used to be on NetYP dialup until a year or so ago.

^Wow, that's a bit pricey. I thought we were the only ones being robbed for internet access.

Anyway, just done this test here at work:

anybody having problem getting on gt5 cause i cant get in. the sever isn't workn for gt5. but for other games i can play on line. anybody with the some problem.

Too bad I’ll be on dial-up in five weeks, which tops out at about 3.2 KB/s (which is roughly 0.4% of this).

<3 the University internet.
My home connection is but a humble 1.5mbps ADSL line. :D

👎
I'm stuck here with a 512k modem. There is a faster line, but its only available as a wireless connection (aka 4G). But at least least we got 3G and 4G (but could never afford it :guilty:)

Internet has been lousy lately, took almost forever to see a single image.... :guilty:

and yesterday has been worse, can't even run Speedtest! Ping was well over 600 ms.

I'm a n00b, what is Ping? :guilty: Don't bother explaining in technical terms, I won't understand it.
If you're running Windows, click Start then run and type cmd.exe then click OK. Once the box comes up, type "ping gtplanet.net" (without the " ") and you'll receive a result like this:
Code:
ping gtplanet.net

Pinging gtplanet.net [208.122.38.66] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 208.122.38.66: bytes=32 time=72ms TTL=47
Reply from 208.122.38.66: bytes=32 time=79ms TTL=47
Reply from 208.122.38.66: bytes=32 time=74ms TTL=47
Reply from 208.122.38.66: bytes=32 time=73ms TTL=47

Ping statistics for 208.122.38.66:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 72ms, Maximum = 79ms, Average = 74ms
The ping time is how long it takes a request to go from your computer to, in this case, GTP's web server and back. Naturally, the lower the better.

Thanks for quick reply, I understand now. I'm getting an average time of 280ms. Yeah, I'm slow.
