Im in Japan at the moment for two weeks and the apartment/ mini house we are staying in clocks in at this:

Not bad compared to my usual 1mbs.

New interwebz is basically the same, we upgraded from 18/7gB to 70/60gB, running on the same ISP, servers and whatnot, for the same price.

Rawr, you took a step up I see. We could change to a 150gig plan now if we wanted but tbh I am over upgrading our internet unless it has ADSL2+, which it wont :/

I run my PS3 on a wired gigabit switch at home. I should always be the host for COD :sly:

Well this test is off of usb wireless on my NES-PC:

So my custom computer is up to par with my laptop. It very easy to see why I can steam videos very quickly. Though My upload speed is so-so but that's part of the internet plan.

...You have got to be kidding me right?

Last week I was getting ~30 ping, 5Mb/s download.

What happened? :grumpy:

Maybe we've hit our download limit for the first time, because that is horribly slow.

EDIT:

Slightly better, but still awful;

Different server may explain the ping improvement... but the download speed is still a mystery to me.

The way I understood it, the fair use policy in the contract only affects the download speed, not the upload speed or ping. I don't pay the bill, so I just need to pester my mam to ring up our ISP. If it was my choice, I would switch immediately, to O2 or BE-Unlimited (Although the latter is owned by O2 anyway).

Pingtest results:

Somehow the ping went down, it was the same Manchester server as the previous test. A packet loss of 96% though :irked:

EDIT:

Hold on... 2 minutes later I got this:

LMAO so true, Hear's to Gillards plans of a super fast internet nation. LOL we dont even have ADSL2+ is all areas let alone optic everywhere.
First I have heard of that! If she goes through with it I will be so glad but usually they just make crap up before an election to try and swing us over :/

This is my speed while running F@H in the background:

Shouldn't make a difference.

My town has been getting Broadband upgrades but it hasn't made much of a difference to me. Although I'm quite impressed with my upload speed.

So yeah thanks to the post by Famine below I checked the website and it seems my line can only support 6Mb max. Which is a shame. We're paying for an 8Mb service so I can't imagine it will go much higher though.

If you go here and tap in your phone number (more accurate) or postcode (less accurate), BT will tell you what the maximum speed they think your line can support is. We have an "up to 8Mb" package with PlusNet, BT rate our line to 1.5Mb, my router reports 1.56Mb and Speedtest.net give us 1.2Mb to Manchester.

I don't think I have ever seen that speed on the PS3 network test or on the screen that comes up when I type in my IP address. :indiff:
BT thing said that 2MB/s was all I could expect on our line on an "up to 8mb/s" package.
I hate how ISPs do that.

I understand that mate... My ISP said I can get up to 2mbps of download but all I get, hardly even reaching 1mpbs. Feels like we're being cheated honestly...

I wanted to try one more ISP here (I tried the rest, all bad), because my friend said it can reach a download rate of up to 10mbps with the use of optical fibre or something...

Yeah, the thing is my dad doesn't want to fork out to get fiber optics installed.
