Wow those pics look superb in my opinion.

I must confess that im embarassed to say that I didn't play GT4 very much due to living with a girlfriend that turned more into a prison sentence. I am tempted to pick up a second hand PS2 and play GT4 once again. After looking at those photos im even more tempted.:)

Call me crazy, but these look pretty darn photo real to me just in GT4.

Then I call you crazy I suppose, sure still they look nice but photo realistic?
Nope, it ain't 2005 anymore but I do believe they may look much better in GT5.

The crappy lighting and bad looking rims completely kill the realism, but GT4 is still good to look at, and even better to play. I have no doubt that GT5 improved lighting, upscaled models, tridimensional rims and beautiful scenery will turn those cars into something near realistic, also, you won't be able to notice the flaws in the models running at 160mph. If you're not a photomode addict or don't care about cockpit view, the standards will be pure win for you, and even if you care, the physics and variety of models will make them interesting to drive.

I believe they will look better in GT5 as well.

The PS3 has much more graphic rendering power, and I can't imagine PD not using it to improve the image of the standard cars.

I'm not a photomode addict nor care very much for the graphics being less than the Premium ones.
I do appreciate variety and the possible lack of cockpit view therefore doesn't make it a pure win for me......

No Dravonic, it will look EXACTLY like that.

God.

You do know that, unlike you, I'm not being sarcastic? That I truly hope it will look much better? That I'm scared since we found out standards will look a bit better at most? That I'm truly worried if I'll like their presence in GT5, not just trying to find something to complain about?

Right?

Moving on, I'm glad Tenacious D reminded me it's a mixed bag. There are cars that look acceptable and I hope they are the majority.

Man. How dare PD give us those crappy models.

I would imagine that PD will even further disgrace the GT brand by giving us the new phyiscs engine and tuning from the premium cars.

If there is a paint/livery system to be found in GT5, I am sure they'll throw that in for some of the cars too for good measure, just to make sure all of us GT5 fans are ticked off.

/sarcasm:dunce:

Excellent video. I agree with all the points made there, apart from "you can't really tell the difference [between Standard and Premium cars]." I'm sorry, but you just can. The difference is vast.

Here's a video I made that gives all the differences between standard and premium cars in GT5.

at 1:10 i like how you can see the driver and some of the interior. And that car pretty much look's premium.

i didn't see much of a difference between the gtr and the vette:sly: maybe when racing together they will run scaled down models:idea: either way i dont care too much. when i want my cockpit view fix i will hit up a premium car otherwise i will enjoy standards most of the time:tup:

You do know Standard cars will have their own game mode, don't you?

Yamauchi confirmed the separation of Standard and Premium vehicles into separate game modes way back at the 2006 Tokyo Game Show. Unless major changes have been made since then, this still stands.

Take two blurry images in a paused video, one of a premium car and one of a 'tard car... No **** it's hard to tell the difference.

Rubbish... So we had this news of premium vs 'tard cars split for almost four years now... Whatever...

That's the one time he mentioned it like 4 years ago?
He said a lot of things over the years which didn't actually materialize or were misunderstood at best.
As for major changes, I think a lot can change in 4 years of development.
Not saying it can't be true, but I won't take anything Kaz says for granted even what he said a few months ago, let alone 4 years.
Remember when he said they could release it at any time they wanted and it may be sooner than we think, last summer?

I don't think that would be rubbish, I think it's the only right thing to do. People like me who don't like the standard cars at all don't want to mix the two together in races.

I still don't get why people are excited about the standard cars, and I don't think I've received a good answear yet. What's so exciting about seeing the cars we saw five years ago in the previous title?

EDIT: And about that video, I don't know whether I should laugh or cry. The fella who did it, where have you meen the last month? Certainly not at this forum, that's for sure.

Well because they look way better than GT4 with new physicals and will be matched up with GT5 new features. I cannot wait to drive my Honda Integra type R 👍

Sure it does. Because "some features from our canceled game will be carried over to GT5" obviously means exactly the same thing as "Kaz absolutely confirmed that GT5 will split Premiums and Standards into different games." Of course. I can't imagine why I didn't see the iron clad evidence sooner.
Hey, does that mean GT5 going to be filled with microtransactions as well? Are we going to be able to pay extra for cars to have damage and better AI? Those were "features" from HD, and Kaz just confirmed right there that those would be carried over into GT5!

Sure, they may look better than in GT4, but they're not the least bit more detailed, and how can you be so sure they have new physics? I won't be the least bit surprised if the Volvo 240 Estate will behave just as ridiculous as in GT4. Actually, I would be surprised if it didn't.

Also, except for scratches and dents, what new features?

Think about it for a second. What makes more sense to you: Polyphony are directly mixing car models ported straight from a six year old PlayStation 2 game with their shiny new models of exceptionally high polygon counts, in order to do nothing but artificially bolster the game's car list; or they are including the last generation 'tard cars in a separate game mode as something of a bonus fan service?

So all cars being able to roll over doesn't make you think all cars will run on the same physics system? Day to night, New photo mode, roll over, damage and more to come at GC. Seems to me you are just angry so everything dealing with standard cars you hate  Like I said I get to take my Integra Type R with GT5 new physics drive on the 24 Hour Nur track with day to night transitions I will take that all day man. 👍
