Its not that Go-Karts are a bad inclusion, its great,
The point is (assuming Kaz wasn't bull****ing again) that the karts were being worked on for GT6,

Who said they were? Are you just assuming that since the track creator was meant for GT6?

and no the picture in question was not photoshopped, PD do not photoshop anything. The reason why the official premium screenshots look the way they do it because they are taken using GT5's photomode.

Besides why would they photoshop anything to make it look worse!

Robin.

Which photo are you talking about exactly?
Either way, yes they have altered pictures, yes they have them on their site. You'd have to be blind to not see it.

I am so sad and so glad to have found this post, sad because every driving game I have ever played I go straight to the cockpit view, its the only way to drive, I dont think I have ever driven in a different view in gt5P, and this news is crushing. The good news is I get to save 60 bucks now. Honestly what have they been doing this whole time, smoking weed up until the last six months before someone said hey shouldnt we be working then someone responds with, ah its ok we will just pump a couple more pixels into gt4 and re release it as gt5 but we wont have time to provide the most realistic driving view for the most realist driving game. This game officially sucks and no fan boy can deny that. Why spend so much time make "photo mode" and all of the videos in that stupid tv section instead having employees of the game make the most used camera angle for the game, you know something that has to do with driving, this should have been more a lot important than making the trees and dirt look pretty. This game is supposed to be a driving simulator yet it can not provide a proper simulation view for 800 out of 1000 cars, to me that is just mind boggling, how could that decision have been made, how, that is just ludicrous. I would think you would have to be poop throwing mel gibson crazy to actually think that was a good decision. This game is not done, this game will fail because of this, maybe not right away but a few days after its release it will be filling the pre used section of games stores across the world. I really hope regular folks start hearing about this, because I for one have just gone from counting the days down to well, not counting the days, this game means nothing to me now. **** you PD. Years of waiting, wasted.

It was mentioned by Kaz himself in recent interviews that those karts were meant for GT6 but since they were mentioned by that Sony-guy they were "forced" to implement them earlier.

This game may suck to you but I think I'm right when I say that this game will have 10 million sales and that officially makes it a very good game. :)

Standard vehicles are by no means a substantial part of the game. For a start, they're simply vehicles ported from Gran Turismo 4 in order that fans are given the opportunity to experience cars from past titles in the series with the brand-new physics engine, and will presumably be the centrepiece of a separate game mode to other vehicles in the game. What's really ironic is the fact that if Polyphony hadn't taken the care to provide this fan service, and released the game with the 200 new cars only, no one would be making any complaints whatsoever.

Very good point but still pathetic on pd's part, to me the 800 other cars might as well not be in the game, for me they would be 100% useless and wouldnt be used, until they have a proper driving view but that probably wouldnt happen even if they have dlc for them its not like they will have a bunch of staff working on it, the game would be out and their obligation to everyone over, they might release a few cars a year, whoopidy do, they should have spent the time to make 300 or 400 premium cars initially. With gt games I want quality and realism over everything else. Not providing a cockpit view, the only view that could fall under the category "driving simulator" is the worst idea I have every heard, providing a proper driving view should have been in the top 3 things to do, it should not have been the least important part of the game, which it clearly has been.

If PD wanted to offer the old cars with the new physics engine, it would have been wiser to release that game on PSN.

If these two types of cars are allowed on the same track, the crazy detail of the premiums will make the standards look way worse than they possibly are.

I know a lot of people still think GT4's cars look realistic, but they aren't. Yes, their details happen to be in the same shape as the car they're trying to be, but you'll never fool anyone with an ounce of understanding that they're real. The premiums would do so quite easily, imo.

Couldn't agree more, which is why I'll hate if we'll be able to mix the two in races. 👎

The Premiums, sorry to say, are not crazy in detail if you chose any view other than 3rd person while racing. They sport some details (braking lights of the Lamborghini for instance) that are stunning, but that's about all you notice.

If you chose 3rd person view, the driver is fully animated and even the aircon outlets in the dash of a SLS AMG are modelled in 3D.

In the opening scene of a rolling start, the driver of an M5 had a BMW badge on his helmet.

Those are nice details, but I seriously doubt there is that much difference in race mode other than blacked out windscreens and missing cockpit.

Which is a shame, but I'm happy happy about number of Premium cars and the selection they made. The Gamescom demo looked very promising in that respect.

If PD can fix what I call a poor 3rd person/Chase camera, then maybe I won't be so disappointed with the lack of 800 whatsoever interior views.

Of course, the hotshots like to criticize those who race with the chase camera view, and call it unrealistic, but then again, racing without seeing an ounce of car components isn't so real either, so it's nice to be able to identify with at least a little bit of what your driving in. I was planning on using cockpit only, but now that that's only devoted to 200+, there better be a good Chase camera. Not some camera that's all far away from the car. At least 2 chase cameras.

Think I'll have to agree with you as I start to hope they will be divided in-game.
One thing I do wonder about is the future ( GT6 ) as I can't see them having the time to model an extra 800 Premium cars ( most of the Standard selection with a few models axed and new additions to the series included ) to add up to the somehow magic 1000 number especially with GT6 expected to arrive sooner than GT5.
If they just had 200 ( and I'm sure most would have accepted it as some accept almost anything by PD;) and we wouldn't be having this debate ), and some extra apparantly, Premium cars only in GT5 they could just model perhaps an extra 200 for GT6.
Now GT6 is expected to include at least a 1000 cars or even more, so those Standard are most likely making a second appearance in GT6 which at least makes the inconsistency consistent.:)

That logic suffers a pretty serious flaw:

Britney Spears sells gagilions of albums =/= she is a talented vocalist.

If GT6 is to be for the ps3 it will need to be out in the next 2 years. I think there are around 40 car modelers on the team. With each new car taking about 6 months to complete, and the external portion of standard cars only needing a touch-up, they could convert about 300 standards to premium (assuming they do not include any newly released cars which of course they will)

Okay I was wrong about that but my point was that the game doesn't have to suck if he doesn't like it.

Sucking is a very subjective term. Nothing actually sucks... it's just a matter of how many people feel it sucks for them vs how many don't.

Somebody out there probably liked ET on the Atari 2600.

Does anyone have a picture of a standard car, I remember seeing one, I thought of an old camaro? I'm wondering how the standard cars will fare in photomode compared to premiums. Are the standard cars made of less polygons and less detail on the bodies? I know they are ports of GT4's models but surely they have been upscaled to match pretty close to the premiums. Hoping it wont be like 2 separate games graphically speaking from premium to standard. Either way, I'm pumped.

`People are too concerned about this. Kaz would NOT release a game that took over 5 years, with 20 % good cars, and the rest 80% looking like something from GT2 or something. They are all gonna be extremely well made and beautiful, the only difference between the cars will be that 800+ cars will look minblowinlgy good, and the other 200+ being unbelievably mindblovingly brilliantly good (As Jeremy Clarkson would`ve expressed it). In addition not all of the 800 + cars will not hace interior, yet.

Glad we got that squared away with solid fact and logic... I was afraid we were going to have to rely on hope, wishes and hyperbolie to assure ourselves standard cars aren't a bad thing. ;)

BTW it would be truly interesting if they made the cars look like something out of GT2... they would actually have to severly downgrade them.

Reminds me of that thing I said where if you have to rely on massive exageration for your argument, maybe it's not a very good argument.

That's exactly what I think!! 👍

I think Jeremy Clarkson would be much more blunt about this issue ( if he even cared for it that is ) and probably expressed his opinion in a way that got him banned immediately.

Hmm, I wonder if anyone has thought that the reason standard cars don't have interiors, or look as amazingly beautiful as preiums, is because the Blu-Ray disc was already filled. Sure it has an incredible amount of space, but it can only hold so much.

While space could be a factor, it's unlikely... if it was that bad, they could just compress and install to the HDD.

It's literally down to time, Polyphony Digital are future proofing the cars now. The Photo mode and rendered versions of the cars are absolutely insane, PS4 maybe, but way beyond what the PS3 can do... but, when GTPS4 comes out they already have a platform of 200+ (probably a ton more) amazingly recreated cars which will be, likely, usable before they even begin to build cars for it.

No, for the 5647th time, it's because they're carried over directly from GT4. Now please realize this fact folks, because it's been proven over and over again since E3.
