That's an incredibly lazy view point. I love cockpit view and would love to see it spread throughout the game and I've been playing GT since '98.

Just because we didn't have something during the first game doesn't mean it should be acceptable to not include it for the rest of the series. A lot changes in 12 years.

But that's a Hell Of A Lot of work to have cockpit view for all 1000 cars. And Im familiar with 3D rendering. Its insane work! Im not saying they shouldn't strive for it. SURE, they're probly working on DLC as we write, but do you think it wise to remove 800 cars all in the name of next gen perfection? The amount of cars is one of the main reasons why GT stands apart from most racing games. Patience, C'mon we've waited long enough for GT5. Haven't you?

I'm not sure that is standard.
Look at the wheel arches, front lights or textures.
Too much detail in my opinion.

Maybe it's a "semi-premium" model, of which I speculated the existence some time ago?

Steph290 The majority of people who complain are those that have just picked up the game within the last two years or so. I say seniority wins over, the regular cams stay for standard cars, and if they don't like it then they can do one of two things: 1) Hope that PD releases DLC after the release and charge their butts off for pestering them.2) Don't buy the damn game!

Nice generalisation, and with no evidence to back it up, extra kudos for that,
Dynamic weather hasn't been in any other GT game, does that mean all in favour of that feature are bandwagon fans of the series to.....
didn't think so:rolleyes:

Standard or Premium?

Those seriously black tinted windows could only mean one thing. Standard -_-
Still the picture is low-res. Im sure PD didn't make the difference of standard vs premium THAT noticeable on the exterior.

If you're new to GT then of course you'd want the next generation cockpit view. If you are GT veteran, however, you are more than used to the bumper cam, so you wouldn't want that removed and you have no qualms at all using it.

So where do i fall in? I played each GT game past to present..

Personally I have embraced Yamaouchi's vision and switched to cockpit view as soon as he made it available. I guess in terms of your phrasing I myself am a veteran, but prologue came out more than 2 years ago! How can anyone still be used to bumper cam?

If Kazunouri didnt think you should be using it, why bother modelling over 200 custom built premium car interiors? Including.. working dials, guages, mirrors, arms to steer, wheel, window wipers, rain effects..... it makes no sense to go to so much effort.

Use bumper cam if you like, but dont pigeon hole us that wont as 'pestering newbies'. Kaz put them in the game, not us, so to take a backward step is quite confusing.

We could take a huge poll, but that where exactly would that get us? Also, I don't recall me ever mentioning withdrawing cockpit view from the series did I? So why are you inferring that I'm in disagreement with Dynamic Weather. In fact I love both, I've been waiting for it since '97. Im just being realistic with the amount of cockpit views. If they are working on GT6 right now, which they are, Im pretty sure they have a number of cockpit views in storage. Complete or not, idk. Why don't we just wait and see?

Everytime Polythony have a blowout of awesome information on GT5 this thread comes alive with hundreds of posts!. Hmm why would that be?.

Because we never get decent info on standards, seems PD will barely acknowledge their existence

Standard or Premium?

premium 100%, new nissan gtr that wasn't in gt4 or gtpsp, and there are plenty of it in gt5 with just different supergt livery. Just a bad quality image with some strange reflection angle that blacked out the window.

How can they be used to bumper cam you ask?! Check the majority of prologue videos online. There are plenty of people who still use bumper cam. It has a wider range of view and you're responses are sharper since, HEY, "It's on the bumper!" I still use both!

Your the one assuming that myself and a good few others here are bandwagon fans because we're 'complaining'.
I would be very confident many of the 'complainers' are GT's truest fans.

finally someone is on the same page with me.. YOU CANT HAVE 1000+ COCKPIT VIEWS! if they made all cars premium, they would have to delay the game even more, and then what..? MORE COMPLAINTS! if you dont like the standards, then go ahead and limit yourself to the premiums!

Fine then forgive the bandwagon quote. But I will ask this, why do you complain? I would think a real GT fan would "suggest" changes to the game rather than wine about it. I've seen plenty of other people make statements as to what can be improved upon in the game all the while being reasonable.

thought it was standard

It certainly looks standard, but that series of GTR wasnt available until way after GT4 was released. Either its a bad image of a premium car, or PD have been modelling more cars than they could actually bring to us as premium. If that is the case the 800+ standards could include more than just previously seen vehicles. Which is exciting!

Its more than likely premium though. Yes?

I prefer the immersion that cockpit view gives you. Also, those 'sharper respones and the wider range of view' make the game feel more on the arcade side. Cockpit cam feels more real.

Give Kazunori and the PD team some recognition for their accomplishments rather than bash them for spoiling you're unrealistic gaming fantasies!

Yeah, I can understand that, but just don't trample on others love of the bumper cam. Sometimes people want that brighter more arcade side to GT. Remember, there menu has Arcade AND Simulation!

Although its too late now, my suggestion would have been for PD or Kaz to clear up this issue from the beginning, but no.
Instead we get all these screens of premiums with barely a side mention towards standards, and what we do get makes the cars look and sound really bad, at least compared to the rest of the GT footage/screens.
I may seem obvious now that all cars cant have cockpits, but then we were led to believe they would,
Also I don't believe I am complaining, more discussing, maybe even arguing over something that I feel is a serious let down in an otherwise fantastic looking game,
I am a 'real' GT fan, I hav the games and time spent playing to prove it, not that its something you could quantify anyway.

I have, and will continue to do so, but likewise they have to take the bad with the good, no point in him having nothing but yes men by his side or as fans.

I'm wondering if the awesome rain effect we've seen on the windshields will translate to other views as well. I would hope so; I hope the screen doesn't stay clear if somebody is using, say, chase cam, since that'd give an unfair advantage over somebody dealing with lowered visibility in cockpit view.

Just put wipers on your TV screen!

That illustrates how silly it is to have weather effects with no cockpit view :sly:

Incidentally, I don't think that an option to enable / disable Standards (e.g. at install) is a bad idea. Keeps everyone "happy".

Perfect common sense. This would keep everyone happy and all that would be required is a message saying: Do you wish to install the Standard Cars? Yes or No.

*About picture of JGTC GT-R*

It's definately Premium. You can see details such as the little screws inside the headlights and the safety pins on the hood. If it were Standard, you wouldn't see those details and if you did, they would be just textured not modelled. Also, the fact that the windows are dark has to do with the lighting of the racetrack, not with them actually being darkened.

Because we never get decent info on standards, seems PD will barely acknowledge their existence

PD themselves think that they suck and therefore aren't good to show to the public. Otherwise they would do some showcasing of them, because there are several GT favorites among their ranks.

I don't get this. See what I heard and what was said makes it seem like all the cars were redone. maybe not piece by piece but that's what was said. Some say they were ported, then others say they just had a bit of a graphical upgrade. The pictures we see are from a video capture, not the best source if you ask me, especially if they're in motion. You'll get the blurred effect. I'm along the lines of the cars were redone, not piece by piece but brought up to look almost as good as Premiums. Shaded windows whatever, the new video on the homepage at 1:21 you'll see two Standards on Ice Ring. They don't look bad at all. In fact they look rather good, especially since they were looking like brand new cars, only a GT fanatic would know they weren't. Which is my point. Maybe some cars look better than others and they're all still standards, but we haven't seen much of them yet, so I guess maybe we still have some hope. Going by that video those Standards didn't look too far off. The only way I could tell they were was by tinted windows.

Dude, Im probly just as much a 'real' GT fan as you in terms of all games owned, all cars aquired, black, etc. And believe me, I put alot of hours in, the like of which no man can fathom!(GT3) What's unfair is that you guys are putting your own wishes upon the rest of the GT world. It's not enough that we got day/night, weather, cockpit, karting, 3DHD, motion dection, GPS mapping. No, you guys want EVERYTHING. Why not make your own game or contribute something of worth to Kaz and his team and stop being immature?

Havent they already said the standard cars wont have cockpit view?. I dont know what other information people would want.

How they look compared to premiums,
Will they race alongside premiums,
Will they look bad in photomode(if you can even use them in photomode),
Will they be as customisable as premiums,
Will they sound as bad as they did in that short trailer,
What will damage be like for them(visual and mechanical).

Those are a few questions that could do with clearing up,
and not just with specualtion but actual facts.

I hope I can get me a decent performing premium car from the used car list right from the beginning. I'm so used to cockpit view now that the bumper cam feels wierd to be in the center.

Oddly enough I am more comfortable being on the right side in cockpit view but IRL I would never drive a right hand drive car because of visibility issues. Unless of course I were some place where cars drove on the left side of the road, then it would be the other way around.
