Gt6 is almost definitely going to be on ps3. Kaz said so himself.

What Kaz says, and what Kaz can deliver in a given time frame, as is blatantly obvious at this point, are two different things.

Yes they already started to work on GT6 a it will be on PS3. How they can start to make game for PS4 when Sony still did not make PS4 prototype... :)

By the time they actually get to anywhere near 75% completion, the PS4 dev kit probably will be out.

Similar to the current scenario, it will be to late for the PS3 and will have to be converted to PS4. Good for a lengthy delay I'm sure.

Y'know, feeling prescient, considering the news that may or may not come to pass... I feel this might need a bump to keep the discussion contained in it's relevant thread ;).

But don't you know this is all irrelevant now with one article confirming the Standard cars look way better than the Prologue cars and therefore all other issues like cockpit view or damage are obsolete and pointless to discuss? ;)

Kaz did mention some features in GT5 would be better suited for the next generation console. Then he mentions how the wait for GT6 won't be very long.

I thought he only said the cars were "future proof"(gt4 ring a bell?) and were more suited for future consoles?

I usually race from the hood camera as opposed to the interior. The hood view allows me to see more around me and it's not too low to the ground like the bumper cam. The cockpit view kind of wastes screen real-estate. Just my opinion though.

That's actually the roof cam for your information.

Want to know where that camera is that you are looking through? Here ya go:

I wish I had seen that thread before posting...
Basically though, the premium vs. standard differences isn't too big of an issue for me, but.. It would have been more professional of Polyphony to give all cars cockpits... or not include the cars that are missing cockpits. Keeping things uniform would have given me the impression of better quality control on the content.

As long as the cars have differnt detail levels, why not include the cars that was dumped after GT2? :)

They are many generations behind, car models from GT1 & GT2 where composed with about 300 polygons. These cars would appear very wedged shaped under the new rendering engine. The standard cars that are being carried over from GT4 have anywhere from 3,000-5,000 polygons. Jump to GT5, including cars from GTP, the polygon count goes up to 200,000 to 500,000. So basically you have a increase in detail from the GT2 of about 667% in detail.

I don't know how you come to your increase of 667% of details, but I believe this is quite off. 667% increase means the amount of details is multiplied by 6.67 (from GT2 to GT5, I guess that's an underestimation). Anyway, you gave the poly count, and that's good enough.

EDIT: so that's actually 66666.67% of increase.

200,000/300 polygons figuring on the low end.

The graphical jump from PS3 to PS4 will be far less drastic than from PS2 to PS3. That's why I don't think there is any reason for them to release a new console for at least another 4 or 5 years and even then, it will take another year or two to catch on. Plus there would have to be some major advancements in distribution(ex. optical media or global internet speed) unless they want to use bluray two consoles in a row.

Quality games will become far more scarce on a new console as well because the development times will become even longer due to the new standard of detail. At some point that extra detail is wasted since you don't even notice it while playing. Unless they come up with a more efficient way to produce detailed graphics, I expect to see more games with a GT5 length dev cycle. I think the main focus next console generation should be making games run more smoothly (60 fps standard) and releasing them without bugs/glitches. As for the consoles themselves, I'd like to see a HUGE increase in reliability.

This is GT5 some guys actually has it. Standards look pretty good IMO I will be very happy with GT5.

Considering we dont have a full premium car list then we don't know they are standards,
One could argue that they would never make a Punto a premium, but given some of the premiums already then its anybodies guess,
I will say that if it is a standard(which in fairness is quite likely) then yes it does look fairly decent, but its a horrible quality video recoreded from a tv in low res, its far from definitive on the qualit of standards as a whole.

C'mon man yea I agree the video quality is not the best but, you can clearly see some of those cars are standard they have completely blacked out windows. Also the cars look the same in that video even though its not the best quality video.

As I said, I believe there IS a high probability of these being standards,
but I can see through the windows of all the cars in that video, they aren't completely blacked out,
Regardless of that, the video is poor quality, as it is the tv only takes up half the frame of the picture,
We can't see the finer details that may or may not be missing from a standard car so its hard to say whether they look much worse or not, the excellent lighting engine has alot to do with how they look in that video.

No prob man 👍, but pause it at 21 sec you can clearly see through the Miata windows, but the car next to it is blacked at.

That's why they look the same. I'm sure that if you played GT5 on a 13" box TV from the 70s, it would be hard for you to tell the difference as well.

JDM can because in that video the cars look equally bad, which to him is good news cause he wants standards and premiums to be comparable. Add the excitement of a GT5 video and you have this.
I'd rather have an open mind and be skeptical than base anything on less than stellar evidence.
