We play GT5 to race, not to keep it in garage. Sure many people take Photos and videos of GT5 but they still end up racing by the end of the day. But thats why they have 300+ premium cars.
So, uh, you're the one to decide what everyone's playing the game for?
But, well, whatever floats your boat. I just can't stand the "ZOMG car enthusiasts drive every POS they can their hands on!" crap

GT5 is Driving simulator, no where in the title it states Graphics simulation.
'Driving' includes a lot of stuff. Cruises to show your car of, among other things.
And, dunno, I drive a car from the cockpit, so isn't that part of a simulation as well?

C'Mon man. You are taking it too far.
How can you care so much about the reduced, but still great visual detail in the standard cars, to the point you want to avoid them altogether?

Because I can, simply that. It's a matter of personal opinion. I still see them as cars from a generation past, not comparable with any recent game.

The detail is still pretty darn good, certainly good enough, and I'd rather have them included at this level of detail than not at all! Thats just crazy.

I'm not saying the Standard cars should be excluded from the game. Keep them in for people who like them, like you, to enjoy and include an option to deactivate them for those who don't like them, like me.

Actually the level of detail is fine for me if the cars "spirit" is captured corerctly. You still get the car with the new physics and hopfully everything else in the game.
If the only thing youre missing out on with standards is some exterior detail fidelity, damage, and cockpit views then I'm happy.

I'm glad you like them. I agree that great graphics are nothing without proper gameplay. But I also agree that great gameplay can be affected by lack of good graphics. For me, there has to be a balance.

Think about it, If some of your favourtie cars are standard, would you really avoid them? To me if I like the car that comes first, if it happens to be a premium thats just a bonus.

Yes, I would avoid them. Again, it's a matter of personal opinion. I just don't think they fit into a next-gen game. Besides, I prefer most of the new cars rather than the older ones.

This just shows how STUBBORN people can get in this community.

No need to call me stubborn just because I'm stating an opinion which I'm not even being terribly insistent about.

With only 300-400 Premium cars the game will go dull with lack of cars, Standard cars fill that void.

First, GT5 will have 200-250 Premium cars, not 300-400. Second, I personally don't need the Standard cars to fill a void, because for me it doesn't exist. I've played Forza 3 with 400 cars and it hasn't gone dull, I've played GT5P with 70 cars and it hasn't gone dull and I'll likely play Need For Speed Hot Pursuit with its 66 cars and it won't go dull. 200 cars is more than enough, especially considering how well Polyphony selected them.

256mb is too large for you?

The 10gig is optional and the standards being on the disc will in no way effect the games performance.

Kazunouri Yamauchi highly recommends a full installation on to the HDD for optimal game performance. I intend to follow his advice, but space is a bit short, so if I can shave some GBs off the install size that would be great.

I'm not saying that the Standards will affect game performance. I just don't want them there for the game to look more polished and consistent.

About the oil changing video, I don't have a problem on how the car looks. Realistically speaking, anything that looks better than GT4 is good enough for me. What I didn't like is that the oil change works just like GT4's: floating car, no tools whatsoever used. It's no big deal to me, really, but it's an important detail.

LMAO now your going too far. I couldnt immagine my 60 year old father going to a cruise to show off his bog standard 2005 Honda Civic SI.

Some of you guys are ubelieveably picky. Theres a car fan then there are people who are stubborn cry babies that nothing is good enough for them.

And, dunno, I drive a car from the cockpit, so isn't that part of a simulation as well?

Driving a real car will give you a much wider field of vision than that on GT5 even when you wear a helmet. I know what its like to race wearing a helmet because Ive raced go carts wearing a helmet and the field of vision isnt as restricted as it is in Gran turismo 5.

Are these cars Standard ?
Yes they are. The standard cars have black windows.they dont look as bad as some people on here make them sound. Its just some people are making a big thing out of nothing.

The one on the left (Voltz) is a standard car, the one in the right (Swift) is a Premium car with dark rear windows.
It's clear with the video in full quality.

.they dont look as bad as some people on here make them sound.
GT1 cars will look great too if you take a screenshot of them at a 160x90 pixel resolution.

The Suzuki Swift on the right is Premium (it was in Prologue), the Toyota Voltz on the left is most probably Standard.:)

The Suzuki is a standard car. Its got black windows which gives it away. Premium cars have clear windows.

If that's all you can imagine when it comes to a car cruise, you're pretty narrow minded.

And then there are people crying about those 'cry babies'. Go figure.

And that relates to the lack of cockpit view on standard cars because...?

Why am I a cry baby only because I dislike the standard cars?
Because you don't share his opinion, obviously.

It's in Prologue with an interior, it therefore isn't a Standard car but a Premium one, black windows aren't the definitive proof, I've seen Standard cars where the windows weren't completely black and Premium cars whereby the windows appeared almost black.

A bad screenshot, this will be more noticeable in-game on your HDTV.

- Less detailed 3D details that "stick out" like rear view mirrors
- Textured shading (really noticeable on the blue Peugeot 106)
- Textured doorhandles/panel gaps/details at a not so great-quality

You're right. A good example of this is the RX-8 in Prologue. The back window is very dark. You can also barely see through it from the inside of the car.

I hope there will be DLC coming out so we can download all the interiors... But still, I don't comment on those screenshots. First I thought that the Mazda MX-5 or whatever car it is, also was standard, but you know what? It was a premium car. ;) Just wait for the full game and let PD surprise you!

I'm not happy about this standard/premium thing as I've said in the past. Personally, I would have preferred if they'd given us 200-250 premium cars with cockpit view and left out the standards because let's face it, 80% of cars in the game are from a generation ago.

Theres very little difference grapiccally from what I have seen between premium and standard. What you have pointed out are just small things.

But Ill leave you guys hate on the game some more while I enjoy the standard cars and premium cars.

I really don't understand you guys still harping on about standard cars, there in the game. You are not going to change a thing with your complaining, you will probably get your wish for all premium cars is GT6. The other thing is you don't have to buy the game, problem solved for the complainers. My personal opinion on the subject!!!

You should really consider stop making false claims about people. You're being quite pathetic to be honest.

I'm haven't complained one bit. I've just shared my honest opinion, and for that I'm a complaining cry baby.

I've said a hundred times that I have no problem whatsoever with the standard cars being in the game. I will just simply not drive them.

Im pathetic? Your refusing to use the standard cars. Im not the one who refuses to use the standard cars.

Actually, I was mostly hating on you for making, well, stupid claims about what a 'car guy' is going to do and what not.

UHUH Keep convincing yourself that I was harping on about what 'a car guy' is going to do and what not.

IMHO, when you start a "Career" mode, most of the cars you can choose are standard. This is just my opinion, but it's impossible not to drive them.
Anyway...
I'm very satisfied with the standars I saw in these footage videos, and I'll enjoy standard just like premium cars. Can't wait to test a standard.

Yes, you're pathetic because you make false claims about people. I have never said I hate the game because of the standard cars.

I'll probably love the game, but I just don't like the standard cars, and it's my decision whether I'll use them or not, don't you think?

There are more than 200 premiums, and they include cars of all kinds. I don't think it will be impossible not to drive standard cars.

From the leaked videos, there's at least a Miata that's premium that you could staart with. As well as the Suzuki Swift. 200-250 cars will still give you a decent amount of cars to choose from.

 I see the cat fight is still going on. I really don't get why some of you waste your time trying to convince each other about the standard and premiums. Both cars look great. I am very pleased If people dont want to drive standard cars who really cares? I love cockpit view standards dont have them is that going to stop me from driving them No. I wish they looked like the premiums, is that going to stop me from driving them nope. I will agree that people who don't want to touch the standard or calling them old gen is pretty ignorant, but who cares its there opinion.

This picture shows me that the standards are not that far off besides the textures my boy Slip pointed out. Everybody chill and let people enjoy the game they want. I'm just glad we got to see some standard in action. They will look better on our HDTV.

Actually a small blurry picture taken off a TV of that size would make it even GT4 look close to premiums so all it tells you is that everything in the shot is so blurred down it all looks equally ugly, not that the standards look close to the premiums.

The fact that differences can be spotted at ALL in that picture says to me the difference is pretty dramatic...

Also seeing it on an HDTV up close will make the image quality better but probably make the difference in cars much more dramatically evidentand thus standards actually relatively worse.
