Thanks for quick reply but not what I was hoping to read :ill: just wow no cockpit view on most of the cars. Thats just hit and miss, its totally gonna throw me off form having to keep changing views per events depending on the car I have. I'd love to see how this is implemented in the game, I guess its just gonna skip couple less viewing angles when toggling through the views when driving standard cars, I just know my fam and friends are gonna ask me "hu why can't I go in the cockpit view on this car". I was planning on buying a wheel to but but I don't think I'll bother now because using a wheel when not in a cockpit view doesn't appeal to me.

Dont be dumb bro, people have used wheels way before cockpitview, its called bumper cam, and some people feel thats the better of the two to drive from. So don't deprive urself of the wheel experience, and dont forget theres 200 cars with cockpitcock.

I can't readily think of any car in GT4's line-up that hasn't been replaced yet.

I was thinking about this recently. A quick browse netted me these:

  • Alfa Romeo GT (it can still be configured, though the 3.2 is gone)
  • BMW 120d (a slight power boost has happened)
  • Chrysler 300C (a very, very small visual change)
  • Lotus Elise 111R (would've applied up until a few months ago)
  • Toyota Tacoma X-Runner

The RX8 also, speaking about the RX8 i hope we get the facelift version in GT5.

Exactly this. There is still going to be OVER 200 car's that will be premium. Other than Forza, no other game this gen can boast a car lineup that large, and certainly not so detailed.

I don't think people are grasping just how many cars 200 is. Personally i have never owned over 100 car's in any GT game, but obviously i can appreciate some people have owned many more.

While I agree 200 cars is a good number, it's a kind of hard thing to compare because most car games limit their cars to exciting race cars making them all kind of interesting.

A lot of GTs cars are ones you might like if it happens to be your daily driver, but if not it's quite possibly one of many cars you won't ever really be interested in and will just blend into the many other low class or novelty cars, uninteresting cars making that car count a little less substantial.

i just hope the jzz30 is a premium, this car was toyotas shot at the leading GT cars of europe and it single handedly gave toyotas sister company, lexus a firm footing to work from. besides my daily IRL is a 450rwhp jzz30 and i want to build it in gt!

that said, i am quite disturbed that novelty cars such as the combi and that other volkswagon are taking up valuable premium numbers though :(

I don't know why PD decided to make so many "common cars" premium. Isn't the Honda CR-Z premium? I've no problem with this, as they'll still be a blast to drive, but w/e.

A CR-Z is common? They made all types of cars premium cause they know what their players want. Simple as that. No everyone like riding around in an ENZO all day long. More people prefer average cars in GT games over supercars.

All cars new to the series are premium, plus some older GT classics like TOM'S Castrol Supra.

I suppose "common" wasn't the right word. But anyways, like you said, I wouldn't want to drive exotic cars all of the time, ergo, I have no gripes.

To those who can look beyond just physics, physics, physics cockpit view is relevant and know a driving sim isn't just centred solely around one aspect but also how the information provided through those physics is accurately visually processed and, perhaps more relevant in a game, providing the simple pleasure of 'sitting' in a perfectly replicated interior looking at an actual dashboard instead of some generic dials in an empty space.
I know how much you guys love me bringing this up, but the cockpit view for me is completely wrong, having me leaning way back or sitting with my bumm a couple of inches from the floor. I lost an image I took of the horizon from my view, and a couple showing how much lower it is in Gran Turismo, so I guess I'll have to start over with both someday. But it should be perfectly understandable that if all views are wrong anyway, it's a no brainer that a person would use a view which suits them best or are used to, if cockpit view is... shall we say, cocked up. ;)

As for those of you who still lament that Standards are in the game, I hope you guys aren't too put off if you find us beside you online racing in cars with polygons here and there.

i have to say i am perplexed that they created 80 odd premium cars for GT5p yet only managed to create another 120 in 4 years for GT5? (most of which are nissans..) This also includes (IMHO) some glaring omissions.... you now have the franshises of Ferrari & Lambo and yet you don't create a premium countach.... diablo... or a ferrari 360, 250gto, 288gto, 308gtb, dino246 or dino308gt4, 355 or of course all the newer ones like.. 599XX what the hell are they thinking....???? oh and don't forget the Veyron.... sigh... and yes i know not everybody wants the exotics... but some of the above are clearly classic cars that changed motoring...

luckily for those of you who don't like using the interior view the whole std vs premium argument is superflous.... mind you in the days of GT4 i thought bumber cam was the antzpantz...

when gt5p came along i thought interior view would suck... but i have to say after a little time using it became very accurate (imho) and it certainly gives you a great sense of occasion.... I guess a big TV helps too....

So yeah anyway i am all for interior view.... maybe my wish of DLC will happen. after all he said it wouldnt happen in GT5p and he surprised everyone with downloads of newly released cars... so anything is possible especially if they get a lot of flack for certain ommission...

So all of the standards will have interior views, but just not the cockpit view?

That is the big QuestionMark/Argument that has been raging since std vs premium was announced.... when i refer to interior view i also mean 'cockpit' view...... until somebody proves otherwise STD cars 'do not' have a cockpit view whilst driving... i for one have always hoped that wasn't the case but i'm afraid i am with the majority here.... no view period of the interiors.... :grumpy:

I am talking about an interior view, not a cockpit view.

Can you clarify the difference? i thought they were one in the same :dopey:

Cockpit is a form of interior view, but a view in an angle. An interior view is the view just showing the wheel and gears (I dont know if thats how GT fans explain it, so forgive me but that is what I mean).

Well if yr genuine and not taking the pi$$... the answer is no, in GT premium cars you can look straight and side to side (in cockpit view) but you cannot look at your feet... again there is no interior view in std cars period! if u r baiting me.... i'm glad u have nothing better to do with your time!! lol...

I have no idea why you think I am "baiting" you or anything. I just asked a question. Also, I edited my post to say the "gears". I am asking if you are able to see the steering wheel with standard cars.

Except we're not just going by that 1 poor quality video, remember months ago there was a video released showing standards,
Oh wait, here it is:

WOW, these cars show the same flaws that have recently come back to light, but when this was released we were all(as usual) told we were wrong, standards won't have those problems, they'll look better in the final game,etc,etc...

No assumptions here. Keep in mind this is a direct source video from PD/Sony themselves and is viewable in high-quality, a bigger TV wont make the flaws any less noticeable, you'll quickly find out the opposite is true.

I appreciate the video, but to me it just helps my point. I don't see anything wrong with those models. They look ace. Care to point out some stuff I'm missing? And I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm really asking if I'm missing something because those models look great to me.

did you just ask me if I was dumb? Wow, what is with you GT forum people?

When I saw your username and the fact that apparently others thought you were baiting people, I thought for a moment you might be an alternate account of that other user. If you think that person is dumb that's your opinion, not mine.

:)

I'm sorry, I thought the "D" was meaning the word "dumb" lol. My bad.
