The roof view isn't too bad. I'm big on interior view as much as the next sim fan, but having said that, I can live with driving from the roof or the bonnet, whichever.

I'm still waiting to see a video of a standard cars camera views. I still don't beleive it! :nervous:

I have no idea why you think I am "baiting" you or anything. I just asked a question. Also, I edited my post to say the "gears". I am asking if you are able to see the steering wheel with standard cars.

I think you are baiting him. So here are possible answers to future questions.
No,nope. I dont think so. I doubt it. I think its the latter. Maybe in GT6. Ask Kaz. It depends. Ummm, no. 80% dont have an interior view, internal view. Inside view. Opposite of chase cam view. Opposite of birds eye view. View from driving seat/position. View from drivers eyes. View from camera located inside a car. View from camera located on drivers helmet and a view from the eyes of an android driving a standard car with the ability to record what he sees. Standard cars have none of that.

I appreciate the video, but to me it just helps my point. I don't see anything wrong with those models. They look ace. Care to point out some stuff I'm missing? And I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm really asking if I'm missing something because those models look great to me.

It's also worth noting that since this video the corvette has been turned into a premium car....... or am i missing something??

it keeps getting worse about standard, now no rim modifications. No veyron and countach as premium, that sucks. I really feel that gt5 is just a test phase for Gt6. Gt5 is so incomplete

Oh my ur rite, its incredibly incomplete! definately not worth my 60 dollars. I got an idea, i wont buy it, yeaaaaa

Oh nonono, I have been enlightened by such greats comments, making me realize that the best of efforts have not been put in this game, and PD only thought about modeling the most badass cars ever modeled for a game, and then thought holy shnikes, if we did all thousand cars there would never be a release date, so they definately didnt do their best to try to get as many premiums as possible, because they decided oh lets add day/night cycles yeaaaa, ohhhh and dynamic rain and snow with that, oh and race modifications, because that won't definately add to the experince. And lets try to vary the cars and race leagues with 16 people online and prolly more tracks than any game! yeaa! I can't believe PD would try to make such an incomplete game.

:)

Yeah ;) one in soft top version (premium), and the other is hard top version which is standard.

I hope the toyota mr-s (00' or 02') will be premium ? anybody can speculate on this?(we have seen a mx-5 premium so why not the mr-s :P) 💡

I think it's fine. I only have what, 20 cars in my garage in gt4 right now? I mean come on, who among us is actually going to unlock and buy and drive and moan about all the cars?
200 is, well there could have been more, but it's still a good amount of cars.

All I wanted was to know if you could see the steering wheel. I didnt ask for all of that. I have no clue why you guys would think I would try to bait anyone when asking simple questions. I dont even hardly post here to even know any of you all.

Yes, anyone can speculate on that.

Also in terms of rims I think you will find that you will be able to change the rim style on the standards (just like you could in GT4) but not the size or width. whereas with premiums you will be able to option wider rims and different diameter rims. (im guessing you'll keep the same rolling diameter though)

Good shouts on the cars still available. Apart from the Alfa GT, some of the others have had minor facelifts in that time, such as the 1-series, 3-series and the DB9.

I never got past 50 in GT4. Now while I unlocked every car in GT5P, 1000 cars in the garage is going to take me years.

I hope PD keeps track of how many cars people actually use. I would love for them to do a graphic similar to the one done on Just Cause 2.👍

Fair enough, I was the same when I first saw it.
GT's fantastic lighting engine does an amazing job of covering lots of the cars problems, such as poor textures and darkened windows.
If you watch in high res you can pause at several stages and get a good look at the car models,
Here are a few examples:

LMP1.jpg

Notice the flat texture headlights, the bodywork is much noticebly less refined then the premiums(note the bump before the cockpit),
Also the low texture quality for sponsors.

Mus1.jpg

Again the flat textured lights, particularly visible on the lower spotlights,
The tinted windows are obvious, Also look at the inner side of the wheels, flat.

GT1.png

This one has the flaws highlighted already.

Of course you could always say that you need to inspect the images closely to see these problems,
But then again how hard do you have to look to see the welding on the exhaust of a premium when its moving.
These flaws will highlight themselves in photomode(assuming you can actually use standards in photomode).

Again, if a premium car is outstanding because its super detailed despite not seeing many of the minute details modeled, then surely equally standards are poor because of their flaws despite them not being visible straight away.

I was willing to accept the standards despite there obvious inferiority to premiums, but it seems the standards could be far more limiting then I and many others had originally feared.

really bad for sure. after 6 years gt4 plus 200 cars and really poor damage. They don't evaluate physics like always.

Do some research, you are the only person on this forum who doesn't know that the damage in the gallardo video is on BEGINNER, we have seen miles better damage already in demos.

Guys, don't bite my head off, ok? :) I was just wondering if anyone else is somewhat disappointed with the car list? I mean, there are pretty much no new premiums that I didn't know about before and it looks like there are only 181 premiums or am I wrong?

well,I am... and the reason is because MANY great cars are missing and because some of the most desirable cars are standard :/

if someone wants to call me whiner, please just STFU kids.If you're not blind then you'll see that this game is a bit far from perfection.

I've never seen somebody say something as intelligent as this. 👍

Same here. It gets boring for people to hear me say the same things over and over again, but I was okay with the standard cars. Yes, I didn't like at all that cars received different treatment, but I could live with it. However, I can't live (at least not happily) with standard cars that are worse than their GT4 counterparts. That you can't change the wheels on a standard car is something terrible that I didn't expect at all.

Dang, the 04 Ram Quad cab is standard.

Seriously though, I agree there are some cars that should be Premium, and some I think should have been Standard, but it is out of our control. There are still plenty of Premium cars to get. I also think that some of those might be a mistake. I do think the Bugatti should be Premium, because of the detail and modeling that it has. We all know the F40 is most likely a mistake too, since it is multi-piece model (Premium) with cockpit view and even listed as Premium in the leaked video. I also think that the '70 Challenger that is listed with the RM is incorrect, and think it should be the '08. I say that because in the intro video, it shows a RM '10 Camaro and RM C6 Vette, and I though I seen the '08 Challenger kinda blurred in the background. It would make since to have a late model muscle car RM race since that was shown. However, the '07 Mustang does not show a RM model, but that might also be a mistake.

People, with 1031 cars, there is going to be a few mistakes.

My god i can't understand why they didn't make a premium model of the BMW M3 CSL. I know that not everybody likes this car as much as i do, but i think its a pretty important bmw car and one hell of a car at all, and with just 1300+ cars here in germany its very rare too.

i hoped so much this thing would be premium and now big disappointment.
also other cars i hoped to be premium are not p.
i know that its just not possible because of the lag of time but ...

at least the fiat 500 is p... :D

I have a favor to ask:

Can someone create a separate list of just the premium cars?

Or two seperate lists, would probably be just as good.

I'm at work or I'd do it.

I am a bit disappointed with the car list, but nothing I wasn't expecting.

181 premiums, 76 of which were in the GT5P original car list. So that's a total of 105 new premiums. 9 of which are NASCARs (5 Impalas, 4 Camries), 4 modern Corvettes, 2 Audi R8s, 2 Citroen GTs, 2 '70 Challengers, 2 current body shape Vipers, 2 Ford Fusions, 2 '04 Integra Type Rs, 2 '07 IS Lexuses (Lexi?)... I'm gonna stop there but so far I'm only half way through the list :P That's already down to about 90 unique cars that weren't in GT5P.

Now I'm not saying that the premiums aren't impressive and I'm sure I'll have lots of fun driving them, but you have to call it like it is. We have about ~70-80 new premiums, 30 or so variants of those same premiums, ~80 copy/paste from GT5P and 800 GT4 copy/pastes. Doesn't sound quite as impressive when you think of it like that.

NFS Shift had 72 cars (according to random google search, not sure how many were different models of the same car). Forza had a few hundred cars with modelled interiors (maybe not to the same standard and many would be duplicates, just trying to compare apples with apples ;)).

None the less, I'm eager to see the game in the flesh, weather looks nice, graphics look good, I wont judge the physics until I play it. Though I might try and play it at a friend's house before I go lashing out for a whole PS3 :P

I just copy/pasted the list into a text file then opened the text file in Excel, tell it to import delimited and specify space and ".". Then you can sort them alphabetically by the S or P tag column... but the results dont look as pretty so I'll let someone else who has more time to burn do it neater ;)

EDIT: I just noticed some of the P/S standard cars are unique, though most are just variants of P cars.

So do we think a few inconsistencies are just typos ... or any hope that Standards will have a cockpit view?? Ex. Ferrari F40.

I'm probably stretching lol. Just was hoping for a bit more as we're approaching the 2011 calendar year. If we had this game in 2006/07 as a launch title my expectations would have naturally been less.

In all fairness I haven't played it yet, so I'm trying to keep my whining too a minimum. :)
