Huh?

Please go as any skyline fan if a R32 is a oldscool model! I'm talking about the 1960's skyline gtb, 70's hakosuka and kenmeri and ofcourse the 80's R30's and R31.

Just want to say to you people ease of on the whole " skyline got the premium treatment idea "! If there is one manufacturer that PD has been giving to much attention to the last time, then is got to be ferrari. come on is 11 premium ferrari not a little bit over kill, there whole current lineup is featured in GT5.

You come on a site full of car enthusiasts and say the only reason we know about the veyron is because it was on top gear...yeah right. Ok

Haha yeah if you say so man. Most people here just read about cars on wikipedia and play racing sims, that hardly makes them car enthusiasts.

Oooooh I don't think you are right at all... I bet a thread of "what cars do you own IRL" would be pages deep with awesome cars in a day.

Not on about those sort of people, there are people on here who are genuine car enthusiasts that probably found out in another way.

All cars in GTHD were of Premium quality. See the image and video I posted.

Hmm, can't tell from that video and I didn't play HD, but it looks like they might be more like a HQ GT3 & 4 style where only things above the window line are properly modelled.
I guess there's something in there but it might not be up to scratch.

My goodness, where did I complain about something, I simply posted a list of cars that a clearly numbers padding. Who the hell counts 5 Impalas with different paintjobs 5 unique cars, therefore, they are "padding", if you want to call cars with unique paint jobs and tuned versions of street cars (which we can hopefully tune ourselves anyway) you might as well say Forza has an infinite car list.

Granted I have expressed disappointment in this thread, that was about 20 pages ago... my last post in no way was complaining, I simply presented numbers on how the car list was padded.

The rest of my list proves your point? How? They're the same cars with different paintjobs and maybe different stats typed in to their performance specs, they're not unique cars, hence, padding.

EDIT: Since you edited again after I responded...

And that has relevance how? I love the way people just tag on a little insult at the end as if they've somehow won an argument and are trying to act superior. All I meant by "quick glance" was that I simply looked for cars that had identical names and so were clearly the same car because they have the same name and year, someone with more time might feel like looking through each car and determining if some others are also duplicates more subtly.

Of course it doesn't take much to look at a list that's in alphabetical order, hence why I called it a "quick glance" instead of saying "it was an in depth study of the car list", geeze.

"Padding" means that they serve hardly any purpose from one another, and obviously thats not the case since many people will like the differences and will like the different types of look.

And remember, you are the one who found dispute with my comment when I said that only a little amount of cars could be even considered padding, which still stands as a valid analysis.

What does the video you posted show of the inside below the window line? Seriously?
Are you serious!? Well, I see the radiator, detailed headlights, door handles, hood pins and the entire body obviously has 10 times more polygons than a GT4 car. You can see that every part is modeled seperately instead of textured as in GT4.

All those Ferraris are unique models. The vast majority of Skylines are duplicates. Big difference.

Sure, if you're a Nissan fan then GT5 is truly heaven. However, not everyone drools over Japanese cars. I would have liked to have seen more balance between the three regions. Yes, it's a Japanese game but then Forza is an American game and yet all three regions have a well-balanced line-up.

He's talking about the interior. AKA, the part of the car that needs to be modeled fully in order to be considered premium.

I wish people would stop jerking off to the Veyron. It is an impressive car but not a big loss that it isn't premium. The only reason why anyone even knows it exists is because of Top Gear, otherwise none of you would care. That is hardly a good reason to give it the premium car treatment. It wasn't even that popular of a car in Forza 3.

Actually my wife (then my gf) first made me aware of the Bugatti Veyron.

At 1001 bhp it isn't actually street legal in her home country (New Zealand).

But hey, I'm certain she's not as big a petrol head as you are...

</sarcasm>

Oh I see. Well, the interiors weren't finished in all cars back then I guess, but they're still obviously Premium.

Prime example of what I was trying to tell kyleh. See...

Why is the '99 Impreza Rally Car not listed as premium in the official list? Another typo?

Because although in GTHD, it didn't have a cockpit view, ever. It's standard. So says the website. Just shows once again how good standards actually look.

I'm not so sure about that... it's got actual panel games and modeled door handles etc etc....

It seems that GT5 is not the only game with different models..

This is why i don't get the big fuss when playing forza3 only time you see the nice detail interior is in photo mode and when your car is in menu mode. other than that the game cars look just like Forza2 which is not a bad thing. People just want to fuss let them fuss. All I know is my S2000 is going to drive, and look better than my forza3 S2000 even though I love my Red Honda badges I created in forza3.

Having not played the game yet nor saw any of the cars on track in full screen HD it is hard to say what they will really look like but I would imagion that the standards will look fine and the others even better. I like the cockpit view option but am more of a hood cam racer. Used the roof cam in GT4. Hood cam in Forza 2 and 3. Roof cam most of the time in GT5P. I am very glad to see that we now have both hood and roof cam in GT5. I think this is a first. The cockpit cam is a nice addition and could be very interesting even though you have less visibility in this mode.

I think it would be cool to have the option to force hood cam in an online lobby and then go out an race at night in the rain or snow if possible. Would be much harder that way but could lead to a lot of fun.

For the record:

Acura NSX
Honda NSX
Acura Integra
Honda Integra

That's padding.

Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R
Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R
Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R

That's including three entirely different cars that share the same name.

Whoa the Acura NSX and the Honda NSX are very different cars same as the Integras.

I swear things are getting even more confusing! GTHD cars were clearly premium models but obviously they didnt do cockpits for all of them (for some crazy reason) thats why you end up with cars like the Celica and the old Subaru Rally car listed as standard in GT5. THESE SPECIAL CASES ARE NOT A REPRESENTATION OF THE OTHER STANDARD CARS DETAIL which is far lower in quality. So people shouldnt be saying 'oh look, thats how good standard cars' are because they are not.

So there are Standard cars, Premium Cars and Premium Looking Cars Without Interiors! :ouch:

I also noticed the hand crossing in that Celica vid, the one visual thing which really amazed me in GT4 and GTHD..... then PD went and removed it!

Robin.

I think its safe to say.. Theres two divisions in GT5. The premiums and the mutants. Mutants that have premium and standard features. Mutants that are more standard than other standards. Mutants that are standard-der than normal etc. What it boils down to is, Premium, with cockpit view, extensive deformable exterior/interior, capable at doing everything GT5 wants the premiums to do. Then, we have the mutant standard cars that have many things but none match the premiums.

Yeah that's not a typical Standard and GT5 presumably still makes use of its GTHD model, but not listed as Premium because it doesn't have high detail dashboard, footwell, pedals etc.
They've had all the time in the world to model all those things since it was shown in GTHD though. Either it will look like in the video I posted and be Premium, or they will be using the GT4 version and it will then look like all the other Standard cars. There is no way it will look like in GTHD and still be Standard.

The Celica is listed as Premium in GT5.

The only car from GTHD that is listed as Standard is the Impreza Rally Car.
