I suspect that "development" in this case doesn't have anything to do with modeling. Rather, it's partnering with car makers to capture as much of the essence of their cars as possible, gathering crash test data, and other things. If it was modeling help, I sincerely doubt we'd have only 130 some odd more Premiums than in Prologue.
Of course you would think that.
And you did what? The math? Or hop, skip and jump to a conclusion?
- (1) ...Though we'll have to agree to disagree since I've never had the feeling of being in the middle of the "filthy, rowdy world of motorsports" in any previous GT, Prologue included. On track the game always feels sterile to me.
- (2) ...Yeah, PC sims tend to have a narrower focus; but the trade-off is a much more intense focus on the cars they do include. Not GT's sometimes inconsistent work: obsessive details on certain cars, others... less so.
- (3) ...I'll agree all games pad; but none more so than GT. GT5 being the worst example of it.
I guess this is a case of different strokes.
1. PC sims seem the epitome of sterility. Frozen backgrounds during set up with the sounds of mechanics dropping tools every few seconds? Eh. Lousy graphics for the most part. Blah bots. Pretty good selection of tracks, usually, but very few cars. Dreadfully boring presentation.
2. I'm not feeling much intensity with any PC sim in any form or fashion, except difficulty on occasion.
3. Even if you take away every Skyline, Subie and Mistu, Gran Turismo 2, 4 and 5 have more cars than any game I'm aware of, save for the new Forza. And GT1 and 3 did. Color me fannish, but I love this kind of padding.
Anyhow, I'm feeling giddy - and well fed now, and don't really want to argue very much. GT5 is coming, and if people can't find some love for such an excellent game, let them eat Forza. I'll be too busy winding my way down a track to really notice.
Speaking of those yahoos, when I get some disposable time out, I need to call M$ customer service and give them flaming grief for updating my debit card info without my permission, and charging me $60 for a year of flocking worthless Live. Now they're not just a money grubbing monopoly, but a thieving one as well!
