Like I said, there is now way we're all gonna drive all 1000 of the cars in GT5. Some of us won't even go over 100. So people saying scrap standards which they probably won't drive ,for more premiums which, they probably won't drive either.
That's not the point, I actually drove and owned at least one example of each car in GT4 and yes I drove most of the ones which weren't duplicates regularly (some ofcourse far more than others) as I appreciated and made use of the variety on offer depending on which "phase" I was going through, ofcourse not using several hundred cars in one day but over a long period of time.
And even when people only use, say a 100 cars, it would be nice to select them purely on the basis of the actual car, not whether they are Premium or not which is a criteria I know I'm going to use as I love cockpit view.
I know that if GT5 hypothetically consisted of a 1000 Premium cars only, I would collect all of them, and drive all of them at least several times depending on my preference and would treat them like I did in GT4 (whereby I didn't have to worry about lack of features as all cars were modelled the same).
My priority now lies with collecting and driving the Premium cars first and the pre-defined selection of cars it consists of (as for me these are the true GT5 cars).
Thing is, some of my favourite cars in GT4 like for example the Lotus Carlton and Elan, Jensen Interceptor, Lancia Stratos, most Ruf cars and the Alpine-Renaults (and the list goes on and on) aren't going to be driven as much (or at all) as Premium cars offer a new gameplay element (cockpit view) which they don't.
Still love those cars (as in their real life counterparts) but they don't cut the mustard anymore since they lack features I grew accustomed to playing Prologue.
Even if I were limiting myself to only a 100 cars I drove regularly, I'd rather select them based on my personal preference, not on whether they posses or lack certain key features.
