Can somebody please link me to the "premium list"? Assuming that people aren't just referring to the official car list which you have to go down looking for "P"s.

I have been trying so hard to be optimistic about this standard vs premium but its really killing me. The standard models are just way too standard. They are basically GT4 cars but worse. At least in GT4 we could change wheels. So now in GT5 we cant change the wheels and we dont even get a cockpit view in those standard cars. Which means you cant change wheels, or have an interior cockpit view, or damage on 80% of the cars. I got hooked on the inside driving view in other games and now I cant even use it on 80% of the cars in GT5. :yuck:👎

For those that dont realize, there are only about 220 cars that are premium. So if your favorite cars are not premium, you cant change wheels, no inside cockpit view, and no damage. So there are pretty high chances that none of your favorite cars are premium at all.

Wheels arent that big a deal. The physics is what matters the most. And 220 cars is a lot, stop saying "only 220", most racing games dont even have that much, and none have the amount of detail of that these cars have.

Riiiggggggt wheels on a car arent that big a deal.
I guess if you dont mind having a vehicle that looks like everyone else in the world then sure wheels dont matter. Let me guess interior cockpit view also isnt that big a deal. Sheesh some people will defend anything. So you really dont mind the fact that 80% of these cars have LESS detail than GT4?? You could at least change the wheels in GT4. And now you cant change the wheels on 80% of the cars in GT5. I cant comprehend how thats not big deal. lol

I can deal with this only premium cars having interior views and being in a higher resolution (even there aren't enough of them) but only being able to flip premium cars over and not standard cars just doesn't make sense (not that you should be flipping them but even so).

As for the poll result showing most people wanting them to release more premium cars later as DLC, well, you just know they're going to do this anyway just to screw us out of more money, don't you.....?

Like I said, there is now way we're all gonna drive all 1000 of the cars in GT5. Some of us won't even go over 100. So people saying scrap standards which they probably won't drive ,for more premiums which, they probably won't drive either.

Do you have any idea how closed minded you sound? Do all people like the same cars? If I gave you 300 K cars, would that be ok because you would only drive 30 of them anyway? It's the choice of cars. Either way, not everyone will be happy so there is no point arguing this topic.

Probably because they couldn't be bothered adding new underside textures under the cars

Shows how silly is to have so many cars, when most of the people who will drive them all will only be to say "well, I drove each one of them at least once".

At the moment, around 110 cars in my GT4 garage, some of them exactly the same car but tuned differently. I have basically every car I have an interest in. 110 cars, out of 600+. :ill:

Is this true?
If so than thats a baaaaad thing,
Its not that flipping cars is so rad and cool but the point of it being so great that cars rolled and flipped was it meant they got the physics right,
If they're making this concession on standards(another one) than what other physics related features will be cut back,
My earlier fears may yet come true and the "we can drive them with new physics" line may not be so true:ill:

EDIT:
It, personally to me, dosn't make sense to cut flipping/rolling becasue they haven't modelled the underside of the cars, the fact that the standard models look like they do should be proof enough that their looks aren't enough to deter PD.

There needs to be an option 6) delete 75% of the standard cars and give us 400 premiums that people will actually want to drive

I completely agree, I think their time would have been better spent focusing on developing 400 premium cars instead of 200 premiums and 800 standard. All they would have to do from there is develop more tracks with dynamic weather and night racing and an additional 200 premium cars and call it GT6. I don't think anyone here would have been angry with 400 diverse top notch cars. What they have now is what look like an incomplete game. That's not to say it isn't the best racing sim, it's just PD set themselves up for this.

I doubt that it wouldve been 200 premium cars. The premium cars were the cars they spent most on after all.

My starting car will be a Wagon R or any other derivative of it, and since there are no premium versions of this car, I will be able to test if standard cars will be able to rollover.

200 Premium cars would've been a good number (250-300 would've been better obviously) but the thing that irks me is which 200 they made premium....its sad really, once you get past the novelty cars there are really a handful of premium cars worth striving for. Not only that, but the car-list in general is pretty much a let down....can't believe there is ONE premium Zonda, no Koenigsegg, no Porsche or even premium RUF, no recent Mustangs, few Ferrari's, ONE premium Aston Martin, absence of a lot of M cars, and the absence of a lot of iconic cars in general.

I understand PD is a japanese company, but the fact that there are so few euro and american automobiles in a 2010 game is just laughable. Fine, the Japanese had a sweet line-up of vehicles in the 80's,90's, and early 2000's....but its time to move on PD! Stop rehashing the same vehicles in EVERY game you release! There are better cars on the market, believe it or not 👎

There arent that many Japenese premiums compared to other cars as there is with the standards (only 5 premium skylines). And there are 230 premium cars. Here is the premium list. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=132729

Well, those same 110 cars in GT4 you have an interest in may be devided in for example 20 Premium and 90 Standard ones in GT5, that's why it's important to eventually have a much larger selection of Premium cars so all the cars you liked in GT4 can be experienced as current gen ones with new features (as the more cars overall, the more chance there will be something you like).
And we all like different cars so a large variety (even if that means you won't use them) and a large number is important when the same quality ofcourse.
You can never have too much cars or tracks in a game, you can have too many filler though (previous gen assets or padding).

No kidding, though I believe tracks out weigh cars in GT5's needs. I was expecting 50 unique tracks, or more. But the official list from PD disappointed me. Just seems for a giant game like GT5, more than 30 were needed to avoid staleness after days of play. And guys don't bring up course maker, that doesn't replace proper tracks and never will.

Well they kiss Nissan ass to much to ignore other cars which deserves to be premium like the Iconic Countach, and Veyron. And even the RUF are left out.

This is Gt5 the "Ultimate Nissan experience"

Sadly that seems to be correct. Too many cars from 2-3 companies, while some have ZERO cars in this game.

Least Lambo is in the game, and the Veyron is also in it. Some iconic cars aren't even that lucky, and some manufacturers don't have any love.

The "Standard" cars look really neglected by PD, The shut lines and lights all look very basic compared to "Premium" cars which is expected but sort of dims GT5 a bit graphics wise. And the fact you cant change the wheels on a "Standard" cars is really stupid. I mean you could change the wheel on most production cars in GT from GT1 and some of the "Premium" cars are dreadful Japanese boxes, Like the Suzuki Cappuccino

Get rid of this Thing , and replace it with a "Premium" Version of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 or something worth driving!

The Cappuccino has to remain premium.
Too bad the Honda Beat isn't, since the Autozam AZ-1 is Premium too.
A perfect reenactment of the '90s Japanese sporty Kei ABC* trio would have been possible.

*ABC = AZ-1, Beat, Cappuccino

To be fair, the wrong choice by PD has been putting three Premium Cappuccino in GT5.
One would have been more than enough and possibly freed resources for other Premium cars that didn't make it.

No thanks i rather have a Cap, and please tell me what do you drive? I hope its boring like a mini MX5 that the Cap is!

And i'm sorry you find Japanese cars dreadful, but most of them have more soul that those supercars will ever have!

An MX5 ? o hell no! not my style. So your saying a Lamborghini Muira has less soul than a Suzuki Cappuccino? Right...... OK but isn't driving a very underpowered car just slightly boring. Thats what i was trying to get at

No its not boring, and not every one love's lambo's and ferrari's. I realy don't care for them and i will try to avoid them in GT5.

Should we update this poll on what to do for DLC and for GT6, because I said to keep it the same, and thought so long ago, if that were the case then we should have around 700 cars to be premium for GT6 or hopefully 800, then the ration of S to P will be 2-1 and not 1-2.. any nasty bits on the remaining standards can be cleaned up so as to keep the unbelievers happy.
Here is to Kaz getting the plans for the PS4 for Christmas... and cake/ケキー
