Or they could have just dropped the standard cars completely? 💡 I'd rather have 200 Prologue-quality models then 800 GT4 ones. But hey, what do I know? :sly:

Dont understand your logic. If you dont like standard cars then you dont need to use them 💡

I can see it now. "GT6 releases, with all cars modeled with less than 675 polys."

Kaz, what is the reasoning behind your decision?

I wanted my game to represent the ugly people in the world.

I wrote as good, or better.
The Standard cars don't look as good as the cars from Prologue, fact.
I could imagine that they added some more details to the cars from Prologue in the 3, doesn't change that they are Premium.

But fact based on what? I've yet to see anything concrete and not opinion-based which support your claim. I think the word claim instead of fact is more fitting at this point. I can't quite grasp the meaning if your last sentence.

Don't worry, you aren't the only one!

As mr_VOLCANO said, don't use them. Just thought I would point that out again seeing as you didn't seem to quote that part of his post. ;)

And as Dravonic said, the benefits outweigh the disadvantages by adding in the 800 standard cars rather than just having 200 premiums. Replacing the 800 standard cars with 200 premium ones would surely mean waiting x amount of time longer.

Oh Jesus Christ, not again, read the last pages again, if you still don't see it get some glasses, this is getting tiresome to be honest.

That whooshing noise you may hear is the sound of the point going completely over your heads.

Maybe those standard cars do have cockpit views. Would you rather have fifty extra premiums or 800 extra modeled cockpits.

That would be the best solution of course, but I think it's pretty much clear they don't.
Unless PD is fooling us (again) with their comments about PSP-like interior view.
I would jump in joy if they all did, but its unlikely.

Its not even that I'm bothered about the look of the models, they look good enough for me. I just need cockpit view to play properly, hood view would barely be acceptable.

Because they said standard cars will be from previous GT games and released a 30sec video everyone here are jumping to conclusion that it will be PSP, PS2 game  :banghead:

If they can dig up 800 standard cars from prologue their better than I thought.

What are you looking for as a "fact"?

I mean do you want a written quote on PD letterhead from KY himself? Is there some expert who's wordy you will take?

I mean the rest of us seem content using our eyes... just from what you can see all over the place they are not nearly on par with GT5P cars and then chepu did that comparison that shows they are almost certainly identical models...

So at this point saying it's not "fact" really doesn't get you very far.

Yeah, because of the lighting engine, doesn't change that the car is a straight port from GT4!

Indeed, but let's not forget photomode. It's from GT4, but not GT4 in race models. So if you want to be pedantic about it, you may say they are better.

Still far worse than premiums though.

Not only that. But people here are refusing to admit that these are far better version. There is no way an 480i version game look any good in HD resolution. nfs2 special edition, I used to play on PC. Even if you play that game now at say 1600*1200. It is not going to look any better unless that game is modded to high res textures 💡

NFS2....GT4....NFS2.....GT4....yeah uh....that comparison doesn't quite work. And by "doesnt quite work" I obviously mean that it fails in every possible way. By the contrary, GT4 (a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay newer game than NFS2) looks very nice on my TV in 1080i mode.

However, I will say that no matter how high you crank the resolution or mod the textures, the car models will still be the same. That's been the argument for this whole thread (the car MODELS), so you're the person (well, one of them) who this applies to:

Actually the better comparison is the same game with same assets but on a newer video card that handles higher resolution AND supports newer directx...

Then indeed the same game CAN look a lot better without need for higher res textures. Happens all the time.

Basically the standard cars are the absolute minimum to be expected in terms of improvement when porting from PS2 to PS3. Any less and it would be sheer incompetance and bufoonery.
