Isn't that the case for every game. Gt is the only game i know that took their Car modeling to another level. (premium)

Do you even know what this discussion is about?

No, seriously. We are all talking about you, and you are just saying random stuff...

Im kinda confused.

the graphics and rendering i know nothing about that.

Do you even know what this discussion is about?

You know, there's this little difference between 'the same car models as in GT4' and 'they look the same as in GT4'. Then again, people told you quite a few times by nowm so I probably shouldn't bother.

Anybody else seeing the theme here?

GT is bbasically the only game that ported stuff from a last gen game. They took the modelling to another level, then went back two levels (GT5 -> GT5P -> GT4) and used those car models.

Which is the stupidest thing to do... ever.

Because Kaz didn't use the word DEFENITIVE arrogantly like Dan.

No, but he did say it would be out by now if my memory serves me correctly.

Also, Defenitive isn't a word.

EDIT: I just realised he made that post ages ago

Well, I guess it's hard not to see it...

In any case, it seems like a waste.

Luminis how is that a waste? We get to drive our favorite cars from GT4 in HI def glory with day and night transition with features we never had in GT4.
Say what you want but I know you would take GT5 just with standards cars over any racing game on a console so in the end those standars are not that bad. 👍

Because having them GT5P quality would be sooooo much better.
It seems dumb to have 1000 cars and 800 are a step backwards.

If you can't spell my name, you could at least copy/paste it...

Anyways, it's a waste in my opinion because you are forced to decide between the new features and old favourites. Do you like being told that your taste in cars doesn't sync well with what PD thought would be cars worthy to be premium? I know I don't.

I don't like to have to decide between racing my beloved Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16V Evolotion II against a E30 BMW M3 and experiencing a day/night race with high/lowbeams from the cockpit view. Stuff that only a premium can offer.

In short, I don't like to compromise on the quality of the experience just to have a higher quantity of experiences available.

You're wrong. If it only had standard cars, I wouldn't touch it. I wouldn't even think of wasting money on it.

For example, I started playing GT5P before I moved on to Forza 2. I really liked the cockpit view, and that feature not being available on Forza 2 made me ditch that game completely.

Yes... But, it's still better then having 200 only-premiums. So, the way to look at it is they gave us 200 awesome cars, and then gave us 800 decent cars from GT4 and GTPSP.

Glass half full. ;)

If you won't touch the standards, that's you, but pretty much everyone else will

Well i guess thats just in the viewers eye. 👍 If you feel that way you don't even have to drive the standards bro. You can just have a game with 200 perfect cars which in the end is still better than any other racing game on a console. 👍

You just answered your own question. The standard cars are going to be a waste to everyone who thinks like that.

Haha, I guess in a way I was arguing both sides haha...

What I'm trying to say is that I now have a much lower opinion of PD for taking a step backwards, but at the same time, I'm glad they included the 800 standards instead of just the 200 premiums.

I posted this in another thread:

Not sure if 100% correct, I did a quick search and I only own some of these:
NFS Shift: around 70 cars
Forza 3: 400 vehicles (more with DLC)
Midnight Club LA: around 50 vehicles
Burnout Paradise: around 80 vehicles (fictional)
GRID: around 45 cars
Blur: around 70 cars ?
PGR4: 122 vehicles?

Alot of these games have less features and aren't composed of the most accurate car models that you find in Gran Turismo, but to be fair also took less development time. So just looking at 200 premium models alone should be fine considering the level of detail and accuracy they bring. Then add 800 more standard models to the mix.

But those don't count (Except Forza and maybe Shift.) They aren't in the same class as GT5. You have to compare it to itself, not others of its time. That would be like comparing MW2 to Ghost Recon. You have to compare it to a worthy opponent, like Bad Company 2.

They are all on this gen (PS3/XBOX360) so why wouldn't they count? I agree they are mostly arcade racers but still this gen.
Edit: I'm talking specifically about car count. Of course those games aren't on GT's level, not even close IMO.

I'm saying that while it's better than this gen, that's obivious. If you were wondering if GT5 was going to be better than Midnight Club, Blur, Grid, etc. than you know nothing. If GT5 has only 200, that's less than it's predeccesors, so a step backwards for PD.

I assume you were being sarcastic in calling that a "little detail" ;)
Yes, I was. Forgot the rolleyes smiley....

So the argument that they aren't that bad looking is actually not even a rebuttle to the argument that they are imported GT4 assets.

Can't disagree.

Changing subject, if you look back in the messy and confusing GT5 dev process, you'll see that we exaustively discussed one single statement:

Kaz
Some cars take up to six months to be fully recreated.

Having all the cars modelled in full GT5 spec was a excessively optimistic prediction. Sadly I just figured it after the bad news.

Wow Im sorry for spelling your name wrong bro we are experiencing inclement weather so my internet keeps going in and out. Reading your rest of your post lets me understand why the fuss for your name. Umm honestly Luminis life is all about compromising, because life isn't perfect. If you thought GT5 was going to be a perfect game for only you I'm sorry man. Again i have GT5p and Forza2, and even though Forza2 didn't have cockpit view it was still a good game with features i hope make an appearance GT5. Seeing how you ditched the game over one feature lets me your hard to please.

Not really. Go back and find that loooong post by IMZIZ and he explains that they could've done it easy.

I have brought this up before... can you really? Can I 100% GT Mode with only using premium cars?

This thread has a lot of people thats hard to please , which is why I give up on getting my opinion across because I am told that I am wrong to like the standard cars and I am wrong in seing the standard cars look better in GT5 than they did in GT4. Im also told I know nothing about modelling the cars which is untrue. But I dont mind because my opinion is good enough for me. I will thoroughly enjoy the standard and premium cars equally.

 so because he said they could of done it easy PD is wrong.

Which would be a fail on PD's part.

So this is on PD because some folks don't want to man up and use standard cars? Whats the difference between players who don't like to use old cars, or race cars. My bro hate to use race cars in GT4 he makes me do those races, however he has done some and beat them to get further in GT4.(manning up)

I am seeing a pattern here... if it's missing or poor in GT5 the solution is to do without it... it's not THAT bad right?

Or they can not cry man up and enjoy the game for what its worth 👍

Exactly and I couldn't careless about other people opinions because im more than satisfied with the standard cars. I feel they look alot better than in GT4 and also insidesim said "standard cars are the same quality as those in GT5P".

I suppose at the end of the day nobody is right because we all enjoy playing racing games for different reasons. My main enjoyments are online i.e racing, hotlapping because Forza might have its faults but FM2 was epic online and has shown me what online racing is all about. Some people on here aren't event planning on playing GT5 online! still thats okay because it illustrates how we shall all enjoy playing GT5 in different ways.

My main point is these days there is so much more to racing games than just pretty graphics and playing offline. Anyone expecting the gameplay of GT5 to be similiar to GT4 is in for a shock because even PD have moved with the times!
