You'd have to run the 315 BHP Mustang GT, which should be an interesting match up with the 304 BHP Camaro. I wouldn't underestimate the V6 in the Chevrolet, but the changes to the Modular V8 have been more than adequate to turn the car into a real performer. The major advantage to the GT is the price, but I'm guessing an RS V6 Camaro will undercut it.

I wish there would be some final prices on the GenCoupe, it would make the picture a little more clear.

I'm wondering...

It's unfortunate that the styling looks so incredibly chunky and overweight on the base model car... and, yes, I know the car's final design was written off a long time ago... but it would be nice to see that with a little less pork up top (shave the trunk down, ease off on the hood bulge, give the thing some actual windows instead of mail-slots)... something that would probably help boost sales in these consumption-conscious times...
This is Merica. Nobody interested in fuel savings will be looking at a Camaro, and nobody interested in Camaros will be shopping for good fuel mileage. Besides, only weak people buy the V6. MERICA!

Well, given how many pre-orders there were and how many people were interested in the car at the show (of course, not a significantly significant example)... They shouldn't have too much of a problem selling the car. Of course, I think at most, 30-35% will be SS models with the V8. I think most people would be satisfied with the 304 BHP V6.

Pricing will be released on the 11th. Two days. I can make a thread if you want.

Feel free!

If I'm the Camaro guy, that most-certainly makes you the GenCoupe guy!

I'm just excited for it like I was for the Camaro a few years ago. If GM didn't take my money away, I would've been happier. Regardless, I'm just the $20k large sports coupe guy. The best car will win.

Ain't nothing more hardcore than a Beetle.

Nuthin.

After looking at more pictures that people have taken of the (base) Camaro I have to say that, damn, what a chintzy car. The interior looks like crap... It's all cheapo hard plastic, isn't it, Brad? That's what it looks like. It's like they tried to emulate the small Audis and their black simple dashes. I like what they did with the stereo/center control console, but that's about it.

Those wheels look ugly as hell. It's like they pulled them off an old S10. I hope you aren't forced to get the wheels black like that.

The engine cover is also super huge... like they are trying to make the engine look bigger than it is. My last gripe is that the car is all body. The trunk opening is pathetically small, and the shoulders are just humongous. It looks better with huge wheels, but who needs huge wheels? They didn't scale the car down from the concept car's proportions to its giant dubs.

Its not the best quality plastic, but its on-par with Malibu sedan. Of these muscle cars in terms of interiors:

2010 Mustang > 2010 Camaro > 2009/2010 Challenger

But who am I kidding, there are Russian cars with better interiors than the Challenger!

I don't know for certain, but I believe those are the standard wheels on the LS model (18" alloys will be available). Click back a few pages to the order guide, that should show whats available on all the models.

* And I still maintain that the V6 RS is the best option overall *

 Yeah, "We're better than Challenger" doesn't say much! Is the interior the same across the board or does it get better with each trim level?

The SS will have different gauges, including the ones that sit below the center stack. The big deal there is going to be the added leather, which will cover the doors, steering wheel, shifter, arm rest and obviously the seats. I can't see any major discernable difference on the dash quality overall, there may be come kind of leather covering on the top layer (ala CTS or 2010 LaCrosse), but I can't tell. The plastics overall aren't has "laundry basket" quality as GM products of say four or so years ago, but it isn't going to steal awards away from anything either.

The good news?

It doesn't make a "hollow" sound when you knock on the panels like other cars do. To me, thats a step in the right direction.

Yeah, leather all around would be a welcome addition.

About the hollow sound, though-- that's not what I heard. Did you sit in the RS? My bud said he sat in the LS and the plastic was quite hollow sounding when he knocked on it. :indiff: Of course, I would need to sit in one in person to know if he's full of it, but my above opinion still stand based on the looks of things.

I was in the same base-level LS model, and I knocked on them and didn't hear the hollow sound. The panels felt pretty solid to me, but when I normally think of "hollow," my Dad's GMT800 Avalanche comes to mind. You know, with the "gonh, gonh, gonh" sound when you hit it.

Do the Camaros come with LSDs?

I'm fairly certain that the SS does, but I do not know about the RS models on the V6. However, I'm fairly certain that the LS and LT models will peg-leg all day long.

I saw a totally badass black Camaro SS with a silver racing stripe on I-696 on the way home from work yesterday. When I hit I-94, I saw two more, and they were driving side by side. I thought I'd stumbled upon a cornucopia of Camaros, but I wasn't even close to the mother lode that a Camaro5 reader found. Sitting at the Oshawa car plant in Canada is a lot full of hot and ready Camaros. They're all red, yellow, silver, or black, and they all look ready for the showroom floor. Has production already begun for the highly anticipated (and long awaited) Chevy Camaro? No official word from GM yet, but it sure looks like it. Thanks for the tip, Andy and Jamie! Also, thanks to Elvisuperman for the photos.
^ Deja vu I sense in me:

:boggled:

Looks like they're all RS models, which isn't exactly surprising. Although its difficult to see if they're V6 RS or SS/RS models.

Hmmm.

Either way, production was supposed to start the first week of March, so getting a couple dozen out quickly seems about right. Give it about two/three weeks and chances are that you'll start seeing them in your local dealer(s) around MI/OH/IL, otherwise, they should be out in full-force by the first week of April throughout the rest of the country.
