PS3 General Discussion

RJ45 ends of a network cable would be used to plug your router into your PS3...

Maybe someone can answer this is the same post as your question Toronado.

What games for the PS3 actually use 7 controllers?

EDIT: Thats not gone well........

Why wouldn't they work? The PS3 supports up to 7 controllers doesn't it?

The only games i can think of that it would be practical in are sports games.

6 actually, as the remote uses slot seven.

And, none that I can think of, although The Beatles Rock Band does have three vocals, two guitars and drums for six players, but the vocals all use the same DS3 for their controls.

Perhaps something like Trivial Pursuit will allow it? I haven't tried the game so I don't know.

I tried 2 SAs and 1 DS3 and the game only registered 2 controllers. I'm not sure how to set up the controller assignment so that all three are registered by the game.
Interesting. It is likely because the PS2 only had two controller ports and they didn't emulate the multitap.

I'd suggest sending it in as an idea to Sony, but I doubt they will do any firmware updates to the PS2 stuff.

It supposedly does work the way you suggested, but I'm not sure whether the person on Yahoo Answers was talking out of his ass or if I just am not setting things up correctly. I've never used a multitap before (or, I have, but I don't remember how it was set up), so I don't know the first thing about how they worked on the PS2 either.

Edit: Figured it out. Controllers need to 1/1-A, 1B, 1C, and 1D. Have to go home to confirm, but I suppose it makes sense now that I think about how multitaps actually worked. I was doing it 1/1-A, 2 and 1B.

I like my old one and its the first time it broke down. I put a 320 GB HDD in this one. My game is still in the PS3 and that sucks a lot :(

Appie,

Have you reviewed this thread on the YLOD?

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=119187

I have repaired (myself) my launch 60gb 2X already, the first repair lasted a month. I am still running on my second repair. Even if Sony repairs your PS3 which many people have done for $150USD doesnt mean it will last long. Check out the thread.

I don't know man. I have a 2 warranty ( 3 weeks left) and i like them to fix, so im donwe with it. I just hope i can get my game lol.

If you have a warranty, then definitely have Sony take care of it.👍

Aw man I'm sorry to hear that. Mine died back in July. Hope you get things fixed up soon.

Yeah, thank you. Made a backup a couple of weeks ago and i found my old 60 gig HDD wich came with it, so, i hope i can send it on monday.

Not sure if this has been brought up before but does anyone else find that the internet browser on the PS3 repeatedly freezes?

It was ok until they brought out the 3.01 firmware update, now whenever I use it, 9 times out of 10 it'll freeze after a random period of time :(

Can't say that I've noticed it, although I only use the PS3 browser occasionally. I've had it open over an hour once in the last week or so, though, and it hasn't misbehaved.

Only if I am doing something that causes multiple instances of Java to open and close, like You Tube. Flickr also seems to give it issues. It seems to have problems letting the memory go and eventually freezes, but it is nothing new since 3.0 for me.

But if I am just letting one thing run for a long time it is fine. I have had Pandora running for hours on end.

Ok, cheers guys, but I think I may have solved the issues now, I deleted the cache, the cookies and the search history, and it seems to be (so far) problem solved 👍

My PS3 turned itself off & i cant get it to turn back on & my game is still in it, I still have a 3yr warrenty on it, so i'm ok with getting a 120G for free, but how do i transfer my data if it did die?
