Great episode, missed it mon sunday due to work and just downloaded today.

What an episode!

NEW fastest car
NEW fastest star
Budget car challenge = Guaranteed laughs.
Clio Vs Downhill MTB = Whoa!, i thought i rode like a maniac!! This was probably my favorite part of the episode.

I wonder what became of the remains of the old supercars? normally the final challenge is to sell at a profit but not in this one

Next week ought to be good, with the veryon race, especially with May flying the plane :scared: even better is that i'm fonna be able to catch it on TV, which has been a couple of weeks.

Remember in the last ep, the Marcos TSO-GT was meant to be on it. But it was replaced by the Zonda F, so maybe on the next ep. The TSO-GT will be on, also Hamster and May will not have to worry about waiting much.

At the start of the race, did not see May flying the plane in the trailer. On the Top Gear ads.

The Saleen S7 is already there.

The Ferrari, or the Dino rather was a proper Dino, it just wasn't a Dino 246. There was a number of different Dino's built, the 246 your thinking of was just one of them.

Ah but you could argue (and just for the hell of it I will) that its not a true Dino either.

The Dino name was originally used by Ferrari (well apart from naming his son) for the range of V6 racing engines conceved (and early design work done) by Dino himself. The name was used on the 206 and 246 because of the engine itself, the Ferrari name was not used before it because the factory was worried that old-school Ferrari owners would believe the car had devalued the brand.

As the 308 GT4 2+2 was fitted with a V8 (and therefore started the line of cars that is now the F430) and not a V6, then its not realy a Dino.

All that aside officially it was badged and sold as a Dino from 1973 - 1976, those manufactured from 1976 to 1980 were badged and sold as Ferrari.

I have seen his new DVD, the C6 still needs to be improved more for the cornering. It may be the best handling Corvette, but it still needs way more improving.

When US finally do a better handling car then the best supercar makers:

TVR
Aston Martin
Lotus
Noble
Ferrari
Lamborghini
Ferrari
Pagani
Bugatti
Koenigsegg

Then they will all take the handling up to the next level.
you forgot porsche. :)

I bet the Corvette could take an Aston, they weigh about 1000 lbs. more.

In his comparison I think he was talking class for class, a Corvette isn't in the same class as any Aston, for their class, Astons are among the best handling cars made, the DB9 IS the best handling car in it's class. The Sagaris (same class as the Corvette) out handles pretty much anything thats bigger than an Elise (including the C6 Corvette). The Bugattis is in a class of it's own so it has to be the winner, the Pagani Zonda F just beat an Enzo and an MC12's lap records, so I think it's safe to say thats pretty damn good. Lotus Elises can out handle anythin in that list, only purpose built track day cars can beat that.

I'm a bit confused about the Bugatti veyron. Ive looked around and i have seen quite a few versions of the Veron but the one JC will be driving in TG with the large rear spoiler, is that the actual production car or can you get it in other versions like without the spoiler, without the two coloured body etc...

No theres only one production version of the Veyron, they all have two wings, the lower one and the one the goes up and down for aerodynamic stability. They all come in two tone, but there are some darker colours that can be chosen where the whole car looks one colour in poor lighting.

The Veryon has gone through a lot of subtle changes and not so subtle changes during it's devlopment, the ones without the lower wing must be earlier concepts.

You mean like on the porsche boxer, when you go over 70 or 80mph a little wing comes out of the back??
I never noticed that on the Veron. I think they should keep the large spoiler up, it looks pretty good.

Well it's not little it's proper wing that pops up as your speed increases, when you speed really increases a second wing (more like a spoiler really as you described it) pops up as well.

I think the carrera GT has a very similar one, both are absolutely HUGE! they remind me of old Grand Prix car wings (before they were restricted)

and yes i think it must be a speed deployable type like the boxster and cayman have as well as the 911 turbo i believe.

Actually, doesn't the Veyron's rear wing sit nearly flush when you set it in the "I want go 250mph" mode?

As I understand it, yes. The whole car sort of "tucks in" to become more aerodynamic, allowing the higher speed. The flip side is that you lose a lot of the downforce, which means the car won't turn as well, as is more likely to lose control. So that may be handy in a straight line, but not for any real driving.

I picked that up from earlier in this thread, so read around a bit, should answer quite a few questions. I'll admit I know very little about the car, but it seems really cool in any event. Can you say GT5? ;)

Yeah, neither of the wings deploy in VMax mode.

Well your right. The rear wings stay down, the front splitters tuckin, a couple of the intakes close. They all open and pop out again immediately if you press the brakes, and Bugatti staff will tell you NOT to do a VMax run on anything but a smooth straight road.

Highlights for this Sundays Top Gear

This week the boys attempt Top Gear's biggest ever trans-European duel. And what better weapon could Jezza choose than the world's fastest car - the Bugatti Veyron.

But if you think Richard and James don't stand a chance, fear not. Mr May has an ace up his sleeve.

Also, the Stig goes to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff to test a pair of Porsches.

The Top Gear guest this week is gardening supremo Alan Titchmarsh. But can he handle the Liana as well as he handles a trowel?

Hmm... I know there is an underground carpark they used for the rally, but this should be interesting. Perhaps they used teh stadium inbetween kitting it out for a concert.

Looks good for this weekend.

luckily i taped that last episode,i just hafta keep listening to that zonda over and over again! and i can't wait for the veyron!

Anyone know what two Porsches are they going to test? It also seems that they won't be showing Hammond getting shot at, AGAIN. And it doesn't seem like they'll be showing the Bugeye Sprite or that baby blue R34 from the preview.

They should be showing Hammond getting shot at in this series. Because well last series they did not put it on.

But look guys now we don't have to wait any longer till the big race. We just have to wait another day.

Ok the star guest this week is Formula One legend Nigel Mansell now folks.

I've got to wait until tomorrow, I'm going to be out tonight getting severely drunk, it's a a lady friend of mines birthday and she works in a pub, you do the maths. I'll be visiting mininova first thing in the morning and watching it when I get home from work. I would record it but I'd need to setup my VCR and I a: can't be bothered, and b: don't have any new casettes so it'll be a crap picture. I'm really, really looking forward to seeing this one too.

Not long now only about 4 hours and 11 mins till Top Gear is on yay. I am tempted to go out and get some grub for todays ep.

Not for me its gone quick for me, left going up the shop too late. I just have a sandwith insted. And free also.

Very good show. I don't think it was the best, but VERY good.

Buggati Amazing, Marcos surprising and Porsches predictable (4wds understeer but get better traction yadda yadda).

I never thought Alan Titchmarsh was an F1 champion and a Indy car champ :dopey: Oh, wait....

What a race, but Clarkson most likey is right. There will never be another faster road car ever, but nothing could of got better. Then Nigel Mansell being the fastest ex and current F1 Driver.

But that face what a race, also funny part from the race. Ladie hearing the car, she turns around. And she misses it before it stops for refueling.

Did anyone see when he went pass a bunch of stones, on the side of the road. That all the stones could not handle the power going past it. So it made the stone fly even when they were not on the road.

The Sound was top notch from the car, and its cool how people can see the W16. And last thing one funny part was when Clarkson, was hamming that sound device lol.
