I dont know how the Spec II release on GT5P was but as I remeber, they added online leaderboards in that Spec II update? Thats the only thing I hope that Spec II will bring to GT5 and endurance saves ^^

How was the GT5P Spec II release? Did they gave some hints what it will content? Or did they throw it out without any infos?

That's cool 👍 but it doesn't address the core problems GT5 still has a year after release.
This depends on what you mean by "core problems." I don't consider not having leaderboards a core problem, though a well thought out and well endowed online system - with the same physics as offline - I do. Many consider the XP system no big deal, many think it is, and I sort of do. Many think the sounds and lack of selectable wheels and cockpit view on Standards are deal breakers - some hate the Standard cars and tracks themselves. I and many others couldn't care less.

If you want what I see as the central things that need to be addressed in a Spec II update, its that A-Spec needs to be longer, and include Manufacturer Cup races as in GT4. All the tracks PD made need to be used in A-Spec events, and more sensibly themed and assigned to events. Online needs to be beefed up and brought to the functionality your basic shooter had for years, including leaderboards.

Outside of that, it's all over the map. Fix the XP system. Improve the PP system. Improve the graphics of Standard cars, try and give them wheel swap options, interiors for cockpit view, more bodykit options, more Race Mod cars, more livery options... there are dozens of things that could be improved.

I definitely think classic tracks from past games should be added, all of them at some point. Standards can be improved at a much faster rate than Premiums can be made. But we have a thousand some odd freaking cars. What we need are more tracks.

By the way (a general response to the board), I don't care for the XBox library at all, outside of Forza.

I wish Kaz would add a real touge like Mt Akagi (Mt. Akina in Initial D). =/

I hope hope hope hope hope hope we get the option to make point-to-point course making back. It was in the beta of GT5 but they took it out!.

Hopefully they solved the problems 'cause having this feature would be absolutely sick. imo.

Yes, that would be cool. Considering the current functionality of the course creator, I imagine point-to-point courses being the most fun courses it could make.

I don't have many expectations for the update. That doesn't mean I don't think it will have much, I'm just not sure what it will include. However, my head will implode into a black hole if I don't get a specific set of options: REPLAY CONTROLS.

The number of times many of us have had to sit through an +1 hour replay to review an incident on the last lap of an online race hurts my brain just to think about.

Thing is, Spec II for Prologue came out only 3-4 months after the game was released. It's going to be 11 months by the time we get Spec 2.

I'm a little confused. Spec II, Spec 2, or Spec 2.0.
I want to do it with the .0 but it takes so much longer.

You shouldn't forget that Japan was hit by a rather dreadful earthquake less than 6 months after GT5 was released. Though Tokyo wasn't highly affected- buildings still shook- it did affect the productivity of very sector in the country's economy.

Of course, some would say that's 6 months after the GT5 and PD should have had major updates and DLC prepared by then (as they did with GT5P). We have to remember even though GT5 is a continuous project for PD, after it was released last November, I'm sure the project has now taken at a much slower pace and with less staff involvement (although things are probably starting to pick up).

A lot of posts have wishes that may end up disappointing the member who posted if the spec II doesn't have what they wanted...

Let's be realistic guys, not trying to be a downer or anything.👍

With that said, Here's to Spec II breathing new life into GT5.

Permanent leaderboards for all cars on all tracks? B-Spec Seasonals? New Course Maker environments? New GT-TV content? Standard to Premium? We can only speculate but I'm sure it will mark an important step in the life of GT5.

Oh yea, that sadly slipped my mind.

Either way, I don't think it's going at a slower pace because Kaz said for the most part, GT6 will just have added features and such. When Spec II was released, they were right in the middle of GT5's total development time. In this case, this upcoming Spec 2 should contain more than the one PD did for Prologue. Also, they have more experience with the PS3 now.

The most complained about thing when the game was released was the lack of brakes tuning.

Maybe they'll add a robust brake system where your brakes wear out like anything else, you can monitor their wear in addition to setting the brake controller up.

......lol

This may seem like a trivial point, but I hope that PD changes the menu back to GT5 prologue style. Somehow, GT5p's menu looks so much nicer than the current design...

I really hope they fix and improve the car sounds! Major disappointment for me. Please enable all the buttons for G27 wheel owners as well, and improve the clutch!

I would also love to see an option to set up your own bots online to race with friends by selecting the exact type of car you want for the bots to use, etc.

Im sorry but didnt PD announce the date of their dlc/update before forza announced its release date. Anyway, even if not I highly doubt PD/ Sony are afraid of Forza purely in terms of sales. What else would be the point of releasing close to the competitors release date...to impact their sales. looking at the two franchises its simply ludicrous to say PD are afraid of losing their fan base. Alos please remeber there could also be delays.

At least PD has the decency to release the major update after Forza 4's release date. Turn 10 on the other hand released Forza 3 Ultimate Collection (which basically added more cars and few minor updates to the game) a week before GT5 hit the stand.

Unfortunately for T10 there was a Forza community backlash due to the fact that some cars were planned as time-exclusive to those buying the Ultimate Collection (even if you happened to fork out for the earlier Limited Edition VIP package). Gamers are unfortunately (or fortunately if you're a publisher/developer) amnesiac and gullible. Wave something new in their face and they'll forgive and forget.

You can tune the brakes in GT5 since the beginning. What's missing is upgrading but at this point that's a bit redundant. Although I'm sure brake wear/fade can be added as another layer to the physics but oddly enough even the best racing sim available today- iRacing and nKar- have yet to model brake fade into their physics engine.

This is pretty much what I was going to post. I couldn't care less about engine sounds, standards instead of premiums, changing wheels, liveries or a large chunk of what people seem to think are serious ommisions from the game. What I want is:
More cars (if they are standard, I really won't care)
More tracks (just going through the previous 4 games and nicking a few ytracks from them would be nice)
More events (in all tiers, and maybve add a few new tiers - rally would be nice)

I could live with them binning the car delivery truck thing though.
Removing the pointless Cr. cap would be nice as well.

What I would love, not just for GT5, but perhaps for the future of GT games would be a "Create your own car" feature. You would be able to pick every part in the car from the Tires to the Body itself. Perhaps from a large list of parts, or even being able to lift parts out of other cars available in the game. Imagine lifting an F1 chassis, bolting a VW Samba bus body and sticking a sweet turbo engine in the rear. Just as an example. Would be nice if you could completely design your own car body as well . As for interior, a race car like stripped out kit would be oh so purrfect.

Sounds pretty futuristic doesn't it?

Personally all I want from Spec II is a livery designer and the JMW Motorsport 458 Italia that ran in Le Mans this year, as I designed the livery!

Wishful thinking... :)

I'd like to see a truck, suv, and motorcycle DLC(s). I'd pay for them. Also pikes peak track. Maybe some nice classics like Packard. Idk the more I was Mecum, the more my car wish list grows. All Premium or course. Haha

Everyone's saying that they'd like to see motorcycles in GT5 Spec II. Maybe it's just me but I just don't see that happening.

No. 1 priority for me is better AI. I know I will be hated for saying this but id love to see Nitrous Oxide back just for a laugh.

That would be so awesome.

But probably impossible to implement without it either becoming half-assed or not being there at all. :guilty:

Dude it's a wish for me, but I know better. Haha just like more trucks/SUVs, though those are more reasonable.

I hope they release a new GT5 version with Spec II and the updates pre-installed, a physical copy of it would be nice. But I wonder the cost and of course if it would be worthy of purchase, since I sold my GT5 copy a few months back, maybe I can get a proper GT5 game now(or in November or whatever).
